Chapter 268 Jasmine Starts a Live Broadcast
If it was for a year, just the interest alone would be over two million dollars. Split in half, that's still over a million dollars.
"A year without working, without doing anything, and I'd still have over a million dollars in interest!"
Larry grinned from ear to ear. "But this has to stay a secret. After all, this money isn't mine; it's from the 'I am a Wealthy Individual' show. I just said the house cost three million dollars more than it did."
"So the show thinks I spent that extra three million on the house. If they find out, they have the right to take it back. Only I know about this, not even my wife. So there's nothing to worry about."
Larry thought to himself as he walked back to the villa.
In the living room, only Jasmine was there.
At that moment, Jasmine was taking pictures of the villa with her phone and posting them on Facebook.
"Larry!"
Seeing Larry, Jasmine quickly put down her phone, a bit nervous about being caught taking pictures.
"It's fine, take as many pictures as you want. Treat this place like your home!" Larry smiled and said.
Even though Larry looked down on George and Jasmine, who came from the countryside, he still tried to be polite.
After all, both of them weren't exactly clean, and their clothes were shabby.
Even Sarah was a bit unhappy with them.
Who would be okay with two strangers suddenly living in their house? Especially a newly bought villa that they hadn't even had the chance to enjoy themselves, now occupied by poor relatives from the countryside.
But Larry had already told them at the dinner table that they could stay as long as they wanted.
Once said, it couldn't be taken back. Even if Larry was unhappy, he wouldn't show it on his face.
"Okay!"
Jasmine nodded. "Larry, you're so much more generous than that loser Noah!"
With that, she picked up her phone to take more pictures.
"You stay here, I'm going upstairs to take a shower."
Larry smiled and headed upstairs.
After taking pictures of the entire living room, Jasmine opened the Facebook Live app.
After dinner, she had quit her job at the karaoke bar and got certified as a live streamer on Facebook. Now she was officially a Facebook Live streamer.
With the app, she could start streaming anytime.
Jasmine changed the title of her live stream to "First Day in the New Villa," aimed the camera at herself, and hit the start button.
Immediately, she appeared on the phone screen.
"If Luna can catch the eye of a rich guy and make over fifty thousand dollars a month, I'm not that far behind her!"
Jasmine said proudly, "Surely some rich guy will notice me and send me a million-dollar gift, maybe even two million! Then I'll be making millions a month!"
The more she thought about it, the happier she got.
"As for that loser Noah, I don't even want to think about him. Just thinking about him makes me angry. A guy like him, just lazing around at home, can't compare to me at all! When I'm making millions a month, I'll buy a villa even bigger than his and make him so jealous!"
But to Jasmine's disappointment, ten minutes into the stream, no one had commented.
A few people had popped in, but they quickly left.
Then, someone with the username "Big Autumn Wind" entered the stream.
"Welcome Big Autumn Wind to the stream! If you like me, please subscribe!" Jasmine said, trying to keep the viewer.
"Damn, what kind of streamer is this? So ugly!"
Big Autumn Wind commented.
Seeing the comment, Jasmine's face turned red with anger.
"If you don't like it, don't watch! Why insult me?!"
"Insult you? I'm just telling the truth! Look in the mirror and see for yourself!"
Big Autumn Wind commented again. "You might be the second ugliest streamer on all of Facebook Live!"
"Second ugliest? Then who's the ugliest?" Jasmine asked, curious.
"The ugliest is Hailey, but she has a lot of fans and makes thousands of dollars a day in gifts."
"Hailey?"
Jasmine's eyes flashed; the name sounded familiar.
But before she could think more, Big Autumn Wind had left the stream, and the viewer count was back to zero.
"Why does no one watch my stream? The only person who commented called me ugly."
Jasmine was disappointed. "I'm not ugly, I'm not that different from Luna. Why would they say that?"
She felt really upset.
"Welcome King Rolls-Royce Guy to the stream!"
A flashy title appeared in the comment section.
"Rolls-Royce Guy?!"
Jasmine rubbed her eyes, thinking she was seeing things.
But the notification was real, Rolls-Royce Guy had entered her stream!
Facebook Live had a new system where the more a viewer spent, the higher their level.
The lowest title was Knight, followed by Baron, Viscount, Marquis... and King!
King was the highest level, requiring a monthly spend of a million dollars on Facebook Live.
This level came with many privileges, like immunity from being muted by streamers, 24/7 customer service, highlighted text, and highlighted entry notifications.
"Could it really be Rolls-Royce Guy?!"
Jasmine's heart raced, the viewer count was now 1.
"Is it really Rolls-Royce Guy?" Jasmine asked cautiously, taking a deep breath.
"Yes."
A comment appeared, in bright red, highly visible, and at level 75.
"It's really Rolls-Royce Guy!"
Jasmine's heart nearly jumped out of her chest. She couldn't help but stand up and pace around nervously.
"Rolls-Royce Guy, why are you in my stream? Do you like me? I heard you gave a streamer a million-dollar gift, can you give me some gifts too?"
"And everyone says you're the owner of Facebook Live, is that true?"
Jasmine asked a bunch of questions in one breath.
But Rolls-Royce Guy remained silent.
"Rolls-Royce Guy, why aren't you saying anything?" Jasmine asked, puzzled.
Still silence.
Then a notification appeared: "Rolls-Royce Guy has subscribed to this stream."
"Rolls-Royce Guy subscribed to me!"
Jasmine jumped with joy. "Does he like me? But why isn't he talking or giving me gifts?"
"But just subscribing makes me really happy!"
Suddenly, there was a crisp sound.
On the coffee table, an antique vase was accidentally knocked over by Jasmine, shattering on the floor.
"What was that noise?"
Larry and Sarah came downstairs.
Seeing the broken antique vase on the floor, Larry's face changed, full of pain.
"My antique vase! How did it break?"
"Larry, I'm sorry, I accidentally knocked it over," Jasmine admitted.
"But don't worry, Larry, I'll pay you back."
"Pay me back?"
Larry's face changed slightly, suppressing his anger. "Can you afford it?"
"It's just a broken vase, right? In the antique market, it's only worth a few bucks. I may not have much money, but I can afford a few bucks." Jasmine said nonchalantly.
