Chapter 240: Driving a Mercedes-Benz

"We have someone, Noah," the financial director replied. "Our assistant financial director has been in the finance industry for ten years and is capable of handling finances for companies of all sizes. If Noah needs him, you can use him without any problems."

  "Then let's use him."

Noah replied, "I'll go there tomorrow and arrange for him to transfer to the company."

"Okay, Noah. I'll inform him now and make sure he's prepared," the financial director said.

Noah put down his phone and let out a long sigh.

The matter of the second listed company was resolved.

He knew it would be difficult to make Kroger a listed company within a year, especially in Oceanbridge City. It would have to expand to the entire Starlight City, and even half of Eagleland, to have a chance.

At least, every provincial capital in Eagleland should have a Kroger presence.

"In terms of funding, billions of dollars may not be enough. It seems like I'll have to ask my family for money," Noah's gaze flickered.

"But now is not the time to rush. First, stabilize Kroger in Oceanbridge City and restore its dominance in the American dollar within three months, then consider expansion."

"The next step is to negotiate logistics cooperation with the Winchester Family. This is a small part of my father's global logistics layout."

"I had a deep conflict with Gideon before, so it won't be easy to negotiate cooperation with the Winchester Family. If the soft approach doesn't work, I can only resort to the hard approach."

Noah pondered, contemplating his future plans.

  "Noah! Noah!"

There was a sudden voice from downstairs. It was his father-in-law Daniel.

  "What's the matter?"

  Noah went downstairs and asked.

Daniel was lying on the couch, playing with his phone and propping up his legs. When he saw Noah, he glanced at him and said:

"George's daughter wants to work in the city. Go pick her up at the South Station in Oceanbridge City."

As he spoke, Daniel took out a bunch of keys and threw them on the table.

"Take the Mercedes, don't drive your crappy van. Otherwise, it'll be embarrassing for our family!"

  "George? Which George?" Noah frowned.

"It's your George. Although there is no blood relationship, you should call him George according to seniority," Daniel said impatiently.

"Hurry up and go. After all, you're from the same village, and you can consider yourself relatives. Be polite and behave well. Don't embarrass me. I've already given your phone number to George, and he will call you when he arrives at the station."

"Can't you go yourself?" Noah rolled his eyes. He didn't feel like going to pick someone up.

"Me?!" Daniel widened his eyes. "I haven't fully recovered yet, and you want me to go pick someone up? What if something happens on the way?"

Noah glanced at Daniel and shook his head helplessly, walking towards the door.

Since a relative is coming, it is more polite to go and pick them up.

"Hey, Noah, aren't you taking the car keys?" Daniel shouted.

"I'll drive my own car," Noah replied nonchalantly as he drifted away.

"What? Your own car!" Daniel's face changed.

"No, you must take my Mercedes! How can you go to pick up a relative in your crappy van? Do you want them to make fun of us? If you embarrass yourself, it's one thing, but what about embarrassing me?"

  Noah completely ignored him.

By the time Daniel looked outside, Noah had already driven far away.

  "Nonsense! Absolute nonsense!"

Daniel was so frustrated that he stomped his foot. "If we don't take the Mercedes and use the van to pick up our relatives instead, what will they think? How will I explain it? And driving a van will definitely invite ridicule! This is embarrassing, it's just making me look bad!"

  ...

Oceanbridge City South Station, the largest transportation hub in Oceanbridge City, combines high-speed rail, train, and bus stations, with hundreds of thousands of people passing through daily.

About an hour later, Noah arrived at the station in his car.

He aimlessly looked out the window.

There were people coming and going on the platform, with passengers hurrying around with their bags.

At the exit, there were scalpers trying to solicit customers, as well as some hotel owners asking if people needed accommodation.

After about ten minutes, Noah's cellphone rang, and it was an unknown number.

  "Hello," Noah answered the call.

"It's me, George," came a slightly deep voice from the other end. "Where are you? My daughter and I just got off the train and we're coming to find you."

"I'm at the South Station exit, with license plate number SEA.HWL21, with my hazard lights on. You'll see it as soon as you come out," Noah replied calmly.

"Alright! By the way, Daniel told me that my son-in-law was coming to pick us up in a big Mercedes. Did you drive a big Mercedes?" George asked tentatively.

"No, I drove my own car to pick you up," Noah replied casually.

  "So it's not a Mercedes?"

On the phone, George's voice sounded slightly dissatisfied. "Well, if it's not a Mercedes, then it's not a Mercedes. Your car will do. Wait for us there, my sister and I will grab a meal first. We didn't eat on the train, we're starving."

"George, there's food at home, you can eat when you get there," Noah furrowed his brows.

"Just wait for me, why so much nonsense!" George's voice suddenly raised, with some anger. "What's the big deal if I ask you to wait for a bit? It's lucky I'm not mad at you for not driving a Mercedes to pick me up! I'm hungry now, I'll have a meal with my sister and make you wait, and suddenly you're impatient?"
