Chapter 81 Grabbing Money
The male classmates in the group were furious. "I didn't expect to provoke their anger," Noah said helplessly. "Evelyn’s such a troublemaker."
Lisa frowned. If it weren't for Evelyn's words, the male classmates in the group wouldn't have exploded.
[Quick, tag Lisa! I want to know why she married a loser!]
[Yeah!]
[Come on, Lisa!]
Someone mentioned Lisa in the group.
"Just pretend you didn't see it." Lisa couldn't be bothered to respond.
[What are you all discussing?] Someone in the group popped up, their profile picture a shining golden coin. [I just had some banking business to attend to and didn't have time to read the group chat.]
[The class president is here!]
[Troy, you finally came!]
[We have some unfortunate news to announce to you.]
Everyone kept chiming in.
[What's the news?] Troy asked.
[Never mind, I won't say it. I'm afraid it will hit you too hard!]
[Yeah, you should check the chat records yourself!]
[Better have some fast-acting heart medication ready next to you, I'm afraid your heart won't be able to handle it.] This message was followed by a sneaky smile emoji.
[What a mystery. Let me take a look at what's going on,] Troy said, with an eye-rolling emoji.
The group fell silent.
After two minutes, a broken heart emoji appeared.
Then, after a few seconds, a voice message appeared.
Noah opened the voice message, and a slightly heavy voice came through.
"How is this possible? How could Lisa get married? Lisa didn't agree to date me when I tried to pursue her back then. How many young people in Oceanbridge City could compare to me?" The voice, filled with shock, anger, and confusion, roared.
Shortly after, another voice message appeared.
"I've read the chat history. Damn it! The person Lisa married is actually a worthless, unemployed loser?
"So you mean Lisa is supporting the family with her job? Damn it! Lisa is so kind, but she married a man like this? She’s probably being bullied at home!"
Noah was taken aback and looked at Lisa. "Does Troy have a problem? Do I bully you at home?"
"Yes!"
Lisa blushed. "Ever since you recovered from your illness, you've been bullying me every night!"
"Cough... That's a different story," Noah touched his nose.
[Don't get angry, Tory. Lisa might be secretly watching the chat!]
[Yes! It's the end of working hours. Tag her in the group chat,] someone in the group said.
[Lisa, can I talk to you?] Troy sent a message and tagged Lisa.
"Ignore him, he's annoying," Lisa remained indifferent, leaning against Noah's chest, casually drawing circles on his chest.
Five minutes passed, and the group was quiet. No one spoke.
[It seems like Lisa is busy and isn’t reading the group chat!]
[Probably!]
[Hard to say. Maybe she's really watching secretly but doesn't want to reply to the class president.]
The classmates began to discuss the situation.
[How about this, class president? Send some money in the group and see if Lisa takes it. That would prove she's here.]
[That's the only option left. Everyone get ready. I'm going to send the money,] Troy said.
In the next moment, a notification that Troy was sending some money appeared.
The notification had five words on it, [Lisa, come out quickly.]
Everyone scrambled to snatch the money.
[Oh my god, I got 199!]
[How much did Troy send us? I got 200!]
The classmates were all stunned as they clicked on the notification to check the details.
[It... it’s 20,000 in total!]
[Why are you so generous, Troy?]
The classmates were dumbfounded.
[This is the first time I've seen someone send 20,000!]
[You must be rich, you're a tycoon!]
[It's just a small amount of money for me," Troy sent a message. "Originally, I was going to send 100,000, but the group red packet has a single limit of 20,000.]
[Awesome, Troy! You're awesome!]
Many thumbs-up emojis appeared in the group chat.
After a while, Troy clicked to see the recipient details and found that Lisa hadn't received the money.
[Since Lisa didn't take the money, I’ll keep sending it until she appears!] Troy announced in the group.
[Wow!]
[Boss, this is very extravagant. You just sent 20,000 and now you want to send more?]
[Yeah! So extravagant!]
[Troy is awesome!]
The group exploded with excitement as fingers tightly held their phones, ready to snatch the money.
In the next moment, a notification popped up with the message [Lisa, I miss you so much].
It was another 20,000!
[Amazing!]
[The money I grabbed is worth a day's wages!]
[Troy is awesome!]
[I heard Troy’s currently working in banking and preparing to become a bank president. He's just different!]
[Thank you for the money, Troy!]
People in the group started to flatter Troy.
"This guy is quite wealthy." Noah smiled as he held the phone.
"Troy's father is the president of a state-owned bank in Oceanbridge City. He also owns many financial companies. Naturally, he’s rich. You can even find his father's name on the list of Eagleland's richest people. Although he’s at the bottom, it's still impressive." Sarah explained.
Noah smiled and didn't say anything else.
He remembered when he was a child, there had been a guest at home, supposedly named Donovan, who was said to be one of the top ten figures on the list of Eagleland’s richest people.
When Donovan had seen Noah's father, Larry, he had immediately knelt down, continuously kowtowing with tears streaming down his face, begging Larry to invest in his company and help alleviate his financial difficulties.
...
Troy opened the recipient details, but still didn't see Lisa's name.
He sent another 20,000 with the message [Lisa, does your useless husband have money like me?]
[Troy is awesome!]
[Snatch the money!]
Following that, he sent five more red envelopes directly targeting Noah with the following titles:
[Lisa, why did you marry such a useless husband?]
[Lisa, why don’t you get a divorce? I still love you!]
[You useless man, you stole my woman!]
[You’re worthless, don't let me see you!]
[Lisa, come back soon!]
Finally, Troy stopped sending money.
[It's over, both of my bank cards have reached the limit, and I've run out of change. Let's end it here for today,] Troy said.
[Amazing, you sent 140,000 in total!]
[Troy, you’re truly incredible!]
[Lisa's husband can’t compare to you. There's a world of difference!]
[Thank you, Troy. I've managed to snatch over a thousand dollars in this short time,] Evelyn also chimed in.
[Let me tell you, Lisa's husband's name is Noah, and he’s a real useless person. You shouldn't get angry over someone like him because he is like an ant to you.]
[But that ant that stole my beloved woman!] Troy replied, with a frustrated expression on his face.
[You still have a chance, Troy!] Evelyn messaged in return. [This class reunion is your opportunity to win Lisa back!]
"Oh? Does that mean Lisa will be there too?" Troy asked excitedly.
[I just said so, didn't I? Lisa and I will go to the reunion together, and we'll bring along that loser Noah!] Evelyn said. [Once you two meet in real life, the difference will be evident, and Lisa will naturally make the wise choice!]
