Chapter 284 Bigger Fry
Noah shot a surprised look at Zaid.
In the eastern part of the country, three families reigned supreme: the Moores, the Whites, and the Harrises.
These families were the real deal, towering over everyone else in the region, commanding respect and awe.
Compared to them, the four big families of Oceanbridge City were like small fry, not even worth mentioning.
Noah hadn't expected to run into someone from the Harris family here.
Now that he thought about it, the Mercedes G350 parked outside probably belonged to Zaid.
"Nice to meet you, Mr. Harris."
Noah greeted Zaid with a polite smile, though his expression stayed cool.
The Harris family might be a big deal, but Noah didn't really care.
Even though the Harris family was one of the top three in the eastern region, to Noah, they were just like the four big families of Oceanbridge City—insignificant.
Noah's family had immense wealth and economic power, capable of influencing the global economy.
While the Harris family might be renowned in the eastern region, to Noah, they were just slightly bigger fry.
"I'm just a minor branch member of the Harris family, not really qualified to represent the main family," Zaid said modestly, though a hint of pride flickered in his eyes.
Even as a minor branch member, any family head in the eastern region would treat him with respect.
For instance, when he had business dealings with Kyle, the head of the Benson family in Oceanbridge City.
Although Zaid had considerable assets himself, with medical equipment factories across the eastern region and supplying 30% of the hospitals' medical equipment through his family's financial management center, Kyle, as the wealthiest man in Oceanbridge City and head of the Benson family, had no need to treat him with such deference.
But Kyle did, solely because Zaid was a member of the Harris family of Silverlight City.
"Mr. Harris, you mentioned we've met before. When was that?" Noah scrutinized Zaid, finding him increasingly familiar.
"At the Benson family headquarters," Zaid replied with a smile. "Mr. Anderson, your actions that day left a lasting impression on me."
He gave Noah a deep look.
That day at the Benson family, Zaid had been invited to discuss a collaboration on rare metals with Kyle.
Just as they had reached an agreement, unexpected events unfolded.
Mason had come to demand someone from Kyle, followed by Sea's arrival.
The outcome had shocked Zaid.
Sea and Kyle had knelt before Noah, begging for their lives, and handed over the entire Benson family to Noah to save themselves.
This left a deep impression on Zaid, making him wary of Noah.
When he saw Noah enter the private room earlier, his hair had stood on end.
"Mr. Anderson, not just me, but the entire Harris family is very interested in your rare metals. Would you consider selling them to us?" Zaid asked. "Of course, the price is negotiable."
"Well..." Noah was about to respond when Ally, Sofia, and the other reporters entered the room.
"Mr. Harris, this is a celebration dinner. Let's discuss business after the meal," Noah said calmly.
"Of course." Zaid smiled and kept quiet.
The reporters noticed Noah sitting at the head of the table and their expressions shifted.
They quickly caught on. Nathan, the main sponsor of "I Am a Super Rich," treated Noah with great respect.
It made sense for Noah to sit in the main seat.
Among the reporters, Sofia was the most anxious.
Noah had been vilified by millions of viewers, largely due to his reports.
He had written about Noah's supposed disrespect, arrogance, and other negative traits in her notebook.
Now, he couldn't afford to offend Noah.
If Noah held a grudge, he might lose his job.
Sweat broke out on Sofia's back as he felt a wave of fear and unease.
Soon, everyone had arrived, and the celebration dinner began.
Noah remained silent at the head of the table while Nathan stood up to host the event.
First, he thanked the show's director for creating such a great program.
Second, he expressed gratitude to the reporters for their hard work, which directly contributed to the show's success.
He then encouraged the production team to keep up the good work and make "I Am a Super Rich" even more exciting, aiming for higher ratings.
Finally, he addressed the funding issue.
Nathan assured the production team that as long as they made a great show, money would not be a problem.
His words were inspiring.
Before Nathan finished speaking, the room erupted in applause, and the production team was visibly excited.
The sponsors were all smiles.
The better "I Am a Super Rich" performed, the more money they would make.
Then it was time for food and drinks.
The director and producers took turns toasting the sponsors, promising to make "I Am a Super Rich" even better. The atmosphere was lively and joyous.
After about two hours, the celebration dinner came to an end.
"Mr. Evans." Ally approached Nathan, then glanced at Noah, unsure of what to say, looking nervous.
Although she didn't know Noah's exact identity, Nathan's attitude suggested Noah was someone important.
This made Ally feel uneasy.
She had previously spoken rudely to Noah, and if he held a grudge, it could be troublesome.
"Mr. Anderson, I've said what I needed to. Do you have any instructions?" Nathan asked Noah.
As the chief sponsor, Facebook Live had significant influence over the "I Am a Super Rich" production team.
This meant Noah had considerable influence as well.
"Cancel my episode. Don't air it," Noah said, glancing at Ally. "As for the ten million dollars, I'll return it to the production team. You can choose another ordinary person to give the money to."
Noah had no interest in being on TV.
"Mr. Anderson, please reconsider," Ally pleaded, her face pale. "Your reputation is really bad right now. Millions of viewers are unhappy with you. You could use your episode to clear your name."
"I don't care about my reputation," Noah said calmly.
"What about Larry's next episode?" Sofia asked.
He wasn't foolish. Knowing Noah's significant status, she treated him with respect.
Larry and Noah had a conflict. Would Noah be willing to promote Larry?
"Larry's episode will continue as planned," Noah said calmly.
Larry's high ratings would undoubtedly bring Noah a lot of money, so there was no need to cancel his episode.
Of course, if Larry used the ten million dollars in a way that violated the rules of "I Am a Super Rich," Noah wouldn't hesitate to take action.
