Chapter 245 The Head of the Family
George and Jasmine reluctantly went outside to find a hose and help Noah wash his car.
"Damn it, that asshole, he even hits his relative! Fuck, I'm gonna spread it all over the whole Oceanbridge City when I come back!" George grumbled as he scrubbed the car. "I'll ruin his reputation!"
"What's that? Complaining about washing a car?" Noah's voice came over.
George shuddered all over, startled that Noah had heard him from so far away, he quickly shut his mouth.
Meanwhile, Lisa and Chloe were helping the unconscious Daniel into the house.
"Dad, hang in there! I'm calling an ambulance right now!" Lisa said, her face full of worry as she pulled out her phone to dial 911.
"No need for an ambulance," a voice suddenly said. Daniel's eyes fluttered open.
"Dad?" Lisa was shocked. She hadn't expected Daniel to wake up on his own.
More importantly, his eyes were clear and he seemed perfectly fine, not at all like someone who had fainted from anger.
"Wha... what's going on with you? Did you just faint away?" Lisa asked tentatively.
"No, I was faking it," Daniel admitted with a shake of his head.
"Why?" Lisa was baffled.
Daniel sighed, "If I didn't pretend to faint, how could I just stand by and watch Noah disrespect our relatives? If word got out, my dignity would be in shambles."
Daniel then added, "For the sake of my reputation, I had to pretend to faint. Whatever happens next, I'll just act like I don't know. If it gets out, the blame will fall on Noah, but not me, and I won't lose face this way."
"Dad, is reputation really that important?" Lisa was exasperated. She couldn't believe Daniel had faked fainting, causing her unnecessary worry.
"Of course it is! Personal reputation is extremely important!" Daniel's eyes widened, "That trash, I can't control him anymore. He's become arrogant and doesn't respect me at all. He even threatened to kick me out! It's disgraceful, especially in front of our relatives!"
"Dad, Noah isn't a trash," Lisa said, her expression cooling.
"If he's not a trash, then what is he? Even if he can afford this house, how much money does he really have?" Daniel retorted, "More importantly, he has no respect for his elders! George is his relative, his elder! Jasmine is also his relative, and he treated them like that! He has no sense of propriety!"
Lisa sighed, knowing it would be hard to change Daniel's opinion of Noah.
"What's happening outside now?" Daniel asked.
"Noah made them wash his car," LIsa replied.
Daniel blurted out, "Wash his car? This is infuriating! If word gets out that George had to wash a car, my reputation will be ruined! Noah doesn't care about his reputation, but I do!"
Daniel was trembling with anger, but he knew that even if he went out to intervene, Noah wouldn't listen to him.
Daniel sighed and decided, "Forget it. I'll just keep pretending to be unconscious. It's better to act like I don't know what's happening. Going out now would only make things worse."
With that, Daniel closed his eyes and lay still.
Lisa could only helplessly shake her head.
Half an hour later, George and Jasmine had cleaned Noah's car inside and out until no dust could be seen.
"Noah, is... is the car clean enough now?" George asked cautiously, putting down the hose.
He was genuinely afraid of Noah now. If Noah dared to hit his own relatives, what else was he capable of?
Jasmine rolled her eyes, scorning at George's flattering attitude. But she kept her thoughts to herself, not daring to voice them.
"Good," Noah said, inspecting the car. "Now you two can leave."
"Leave?" They both looked confused.
"Where to?" George asked.
"Noah, you can't be serious about kicking us out, can you?" Jasmine said, her face darkening.
"Do you have short-term memory loss? I've already said I was kicking you out. Did you forget it so soon?" Noah frowned, "Did you really think you could stay in my house forever?"
"Noah, you're being heartless! It's late at night, where are we supposed to go?" Jasmine said angrily.
"That's your business," Noah replied coolly.
"Unbelievable! Noah, do you really think you're the master of this house? Daniel! Daniel!" George shouted as he stormed into the house.
"Oh no, George is coming! Lisa, help me out here. Tell him I can't wake up and that we've already called an ambulance!" Daniel's face changed, and he quickly closed his eyes again.
He felt a pang of bitterness. He knew he couldn't handle this situation and could only pretend to be unconscious to get through it.
The door burst open, and George rushed in. Seeing Daniel on the bed, he shook him vigorously.
George yelled urgently, "Daniel! Wake up! Your useless son-in-law is kicking Jasmine and me out! It's late at night, where are we supposed to go? Wake up and do something!"
However, no matter how much George shook him, Daniel remained still.
"George, stop shaking him. My dad's unconscious, and we've already called an ambulance. If you keep shaking him, what if something happens to him?" Lisa said coldly. She had no fondness for George either.
"It's over. If Daniel doesn't wake up, are Jasmine and I really going to be kicked out by Noah?" George took a few steps back, his face pale.
Noah walked in at that moment, glancing at Daniel and then smirking.
"Daniel, why did you have to faint now of all times? Wake up, or Jasmine and I are at this jerk's mercy!" George lamented.
"It doesn't matter if Daniel is unconscious. As long as it's happening in this villa, I'm in charge. I'm the real head of this household, not Daniel," Noah said, his hands behind his back, a cold smile on his face.
Hearing this, Daniel's breathing raced, his face turned red as he gripped the bedsheets tightly, trying to contain his anger.
"You asshole, you're bragging! Only Daniel has the final say here! Would you dare say that when Daniel's awake?" George scoffed.
"Cut it out, fuck off here," Noah said impatiently. He grabbed George and dragged him out of the house, throwing him outside.
At that moment, four security guards were patrolling the area. Seeing Noah, they immediately stood at attention and saluted.
"Get these two trespassers out of here," Noah ordered, pointing at George and Jasmine.
