Chapter 312 The Murphy Family Sends Their Regards
Billy shivered, sweat dripping down his back. Mason and Ethan were treating Noah with so much respect—just who was Noah, really? Could what he said in the living room be true? Was his status in the underworld really that high?
Bodhi and Daisy were the most shocked. They stood there, mouths open, unable to believe what they were seeing.
"How is this even possible?" Bodhi and Daisy exchanged glances, seeing the shock and disbelief in each other's eyes. They had spent the past few days with Noah, and aside from his decent skills, he didn't seem to have any other remarkable qualities. In fact, he had some flaws, like his tendency to brag. Especially earlier in the VIP lounge, Noah had boasted about his high status in the underworld in front of everyone, which had led to a burst of laughter and ridicule. Even Bodhi and Daisy had felt a bit annoyed, thinking his bragging was way over the top and completely unrealistic.
But now, they realized Noah wasn't bragging! Even Mason and Ethan treated Noah with such respect—how could Noah's status be low?
"Mason and Ethan are the top dogs in Oceanbridge City's underworld! If they treat Noah like this, just how high is Noah's status?" The thought made them shiver, not daring to think further, as they looked deeply at the young man on the stage.
"Kid, who the hell are you?!" Otis glared at Noah, his eyes bloodshot. He hadn't expected that just as he was about to kill Mason and take his place, a young man would appear out of nowhere.
"You don't need to know who I am. Tell your men to stand down," Noah said calmly.
"Stand down? In your dreams, I—" Otis sneered, but before he could finish, bang! A gunshot rang out! Noah shot Otis in the other knee.
Otis fell to his knees in front of Noah. "It hurts so much," Otis gritted his teeth, feeling a sharp pain in his legs.
The men in black on the railing hesitated, their guns pointed at Noah. "I'll say it one last time. Tell your men to stand down, or you die," Noah said, pressing the gun to Otis's forehead, exuding a chilling killing intent.
Feeling the killing intent, Otis shivered, his spine cold as if he were in an ice cellar. He did not doubt that if he didn't withdraw his men, the young man in front of him would shoot him without hesitation.
Otis was terrified of dying—terrified beyond measure! Once you're dead, everything is over. "Withdraw, everyone withdraw!" Otis shouted without hesitation.
The men in black on the railing immediately retreated upon hearing the order. The tense atmosphere instantly relaxed.
Seeing this, Lucas' bodyguard walked up to Otis and restrained him. "Mr. Anderson!" "Noah!" Mason and Ethan both addressed Noah respectfully.
"Noah。" On the other side, Yves, sitting on a wooden chair, looked deeply at Noah, his heart racing, a hint of killing intent in his eyes. Luke had been captured because of Noah and was now sentenced to death. With Yves' influence, it was easy to find out these details. Noah had even received a Good Citizen Award for it, though his face had been pixelated during the award ceremony. But Yves had used technology to uncover Noah's true appearance—it was the young man in front of him!
"Luke is tied to the Murphy family. This grudge has to be settled!" Yves' eyes burned with a deadly intent. His main reason for coming to Oceanbridge City was to take out Noah. Luke's capture had made the Murphy family a laughingstock in the eastern underworld, with countless people mocking them. To restore their lost honor and reputation, Noah had to die. His secondary goal was to support Otis's rise to power. But with Otis captured, that goal seemed out of reach.
"But Noah must die." Yves discreetly slipped his right hand into his coat pocket, where a gun was hidden.
"Who would've thought there'd be a rebellion at the succession ceremony?" Noah said with a slight smile, casually tossing his gun to Ethan as he watched Otis being taken away.
"I didn't see it coming either. Otis has always been ruthless, but I treated him like a brother. I never imagined he would rebel and kill five elders," Mason said with a helpless smile.
"Mason, those men in black..." Ethan's eyes flashed.
"They've probably fled!" Mason replied. "With Otis captured, they're leaderless. If they don't run, are they going to wait to die?"
"That's good!" Ethan sighed in relief.
"Go ahead with your succession ceremony. I'll be watching from the side," Noah said calmly, walking over to the nine wooden chairs and sitting in the central position. Mr. Huang sat beside him.
Noah had heard Mason say that Yves had come from the eastern underworld to witness the ceremony, so he didn't pay much attention.
"Otis has been captured, and the five elders have agreed that Ethan will succeed to my position. Does anyone have any objections?" Mason asked loudly, looking around the stage.
"No objections!" "I support Ethan!" The crowd responded loudly, their voices echoing.
As they spoke, they couldn't help but glance at the young man in the central chair, full of curiosity. They were most curious about the young man's identity. The Oceanbridge City underworld had never heard of him, yet Mason and Ethan treated him with such respect.
"Who is this young man?" "I can't figure it out!" "But we definitely can't provoke him. Mason and Ethan are so respectful to him!" The crowd thought to themselves.
Bodhi and Daisy still had their eyes on Noah, unable to fully process what was happening.
"Since everyone is satisfied, I announce that from now on, Ethan will succeed my position!" Mason declared loudly.
"Ethan!"
"Ethan!"
"Ethan!"
The crowd cheered like waves.
With that, Ethan smoothly succeeded Mason, becoming the leader of the Oceanbridge City underworld. Noah couldn't help but smile, nodding in satisfaction. Ethan's rise was his doing, and seeing him in this position gave Noah a sense of accomplishment. This was his own influence.
Just as Noah was smiling, a shadow suddenly appeared in front of him. Moving swiftly, it was Yves! He grabbed Noah's head with his left hand, whispering in his ear with a sinister smile, "Noah, the Murphy family sends their regards. Luke died because of you, and you must pay with your life for disgracing the Murphy family."
His right hand held a gun, pressing it against Noah's abdomen, and he pulled the trigger without hesitation!
The gunshot rang out! Noah's face turned pale as paper, blood gushing from his abdomen, the smell of blood filling the air!
