Chapter 124 The Buffalo Horn

Chloe nodded and began to clean the room.

Swish, swish...

Daniel leisurely cracked open sunflower seeds, casually tossing the shells onto the floor.

As Chloe finished mopping the floor, Daniel threw away another handful of sunflower seed shells.

"Hurry up and work, can't you see the sunflower seed shells on the floor?!" Daniel scolded.

"Yes, Daniel," Chloe obediently replied and cleaned up the sunflower seed shells again.

...

In the evening, Lisa finished work and Chloe served dinner.

The food was delicious...

Every dish was full of flavor and visually appealing. It was a feast.

"Chloe's cooking is amazing, honey, the food is so delicious!" Lisa praised as she picked up a piece of meat and tasted it.

"Have some more, then." Noah smiled, happy that Lisa was satisfied with Chloe's cooking.

"Chloe, the food is ready, come and eat with us!" Noah immediately called out when he saw Chloe standing in the corner.

"Noah, she's the housekeeper, the maid. How can you let her eat at the table?!" Daniel furrowed his brows. "She has no understanding of her place, there should be a clear distinction between master and servant."

"I don't need to eat at the table, Noah," Chloe waved her hand.

"Come on, sit at the table and eat with us," Noah insisted, his voice leaving no room for doubt. "In our home, there is no distinction between master and servant, everyone is equal. There’s no master-servant relationship between you and me. I pay you a salary, and you cook and clean for me. It's a simple matter of equality."

As he spoke, Noah reached out his hand and pulled Chloe to sit at the table.

"Yes, let's all eat together, it'll be nice. Come and eat, Chloe!" Lisa added.

"Chloe, try the food you cooked yourself! It's delicious!" Luna put a piece of meat into Chloe's bowl.

Bang!

Daniel suddenly became furious and slapped the table. "Noah, are you an idiot? Master and servant have never eaten together since ancient times. This meal is ruined!"

"Ah!" Chloe was startled, her face turning pale as she quickly stood up. "Noah, I'll wait for you all to finish before I eat."

"I told you, everyone is equal here, there is no distinction between master and servant. Sit down and eat with us, Chloe," Noah insisted.

"Noah, if you think this food is inedible, you don't have to eat it," Chloe said calmly, sitting down again and looking at Daniel.

"You’re really pushing it, Noah! You don't even let your father-in-law eat!" Daniel glared at Noah.

"What's wrong with Chloe and us eating together? I think it's fine. I don't understand why you're angry," Luna said, perplexed.

"Luna, you don't understand... Forget it, let's just eat together!" Daniel sighed and started eating.

Joking aside, what else would they eat if not food? Would they starve if they didn't eat?

That was just Daniel's character. He bullied the weak and feared the strong.

Since Noah stood his ground, he naturally yielded to him, especially since he lived in Noah's villa.

For the next week, Noah woke up naturally every morning, had breakfast, took walks, and played chess with Donovan, living a relaxed and enjoyable life.

News came from Ethan that Dylan, a resident of the impoverished area, had finally signed a contract on the second day after his water and electricity were cut off and the two cement houses he had just built were forcibly demolished. He agreed to the relocation and received compensation of four hundred thousand dollars.

In the following days, Ethan probably wouldn’t encounter significant difficulties during his work on the relocation and compensation in the impoverished area. Even if there were challenges, Noah was confident he could handle them.

...

One day, Noah lay on the sun lounger on the top floor of the villa, basking in the sun.

"I knew you were a thief! You've finally shown your true colors!" Daniel's furious voice came from downstairs.

Noah went downstairs and arrived in the living room, where he found Chloe standing there, tears streaming down her face.

Daniel looked enraged and raised his hand.

Smack!

He slapped Chloe hard in the face.

"I really didn't steal the cow horn, Daniel!" Chloe cried out loudly, not daring to dodge, allowing the slap to land on her face. The burning pain seared through her.

"You didn't steal it? Then why is the golden bull missing a horn? Did it just run away on its own?" Daniel shouted, pointing to the table.

There was a golden bull on the table.

However, the left horn of the golden bull was gone, and had cut marks indicating it had been sliced off by a sharp object.

"I haven't even seen this golden bull since I came to Noah's house. How could I have stolen the cow horn?" Chloe cried, her face full of grievances.

"You're still making excuses? I’ll beat you to death!" Daniel raised his hand angrily for another slap.

But before the slap could land on Chloe's face, Noah grabbed his wrist.

"Let's talk about this calmly, Daniel. Don't resort to violence," Noah said expressionlessly, gripping Daniel's wrist with one hand.

"Noah, you useless piece of trash, you’re trying to stop me?"

Daniel strained to pull his hand back, but found that he couldn't move. "I'm not trying to stop you. I'm telling you, don't hit her. We can talk it out," Noah said expressionlessly.

"What do you mean talk it out? Are you blind? Can't you see that the golden bull is missing a horn?" Daniel pointed at the bull furiously.

"Noah, I swear I didn't steal that bull's horn!" Chloe looked at Noah, extremely anxious. "Noah, you gave me a job and doubled my salary. If I had any sense of gratitude, I wouldn't steal that bull's horn!"

"Humph, this golden bull is made of pure gold and is worth 7.5 million dollars. One horn could be worth 300,000 dollars. Who knows, you might have been tempted by the money. You steal and still have the nerve to stand in front of me? Aren't you going to kneel down?" Daniel sneered.

Plop!

Chloe knelt directly in front of Daniel, tears streaming down her face. "Daniel, I’ve never even seen this golden bull during my time at the Lin family. How could I possibly steal its horn? I swear, if I stole it, I'll never live in peace!" Chloe cried.

Chloe burst into tears. Noah picked up the golden bull and examined it. The cut end of the horn was very smooth, indicating that a sharp knife had been used to cut it horizontally.

"Hmph, that means nothing. We kept the golden bull at home, and you’re the only outsider. Apart from you, no one else would have stolen it," Daniel said expressionlessly.

"Chloe, get up. If you really didn't steal the horn, I’ll clear your name. Besides, this golden bull is mine, not my father-in-law's. I should be the one to take responsibility for this." Noah helped Chloe up.

"When did the golden bull become yours, Noah?" Daniel's eyes widened. "Mac clearly gave the golden bull to Lisa! Lisa is mine!"

Noah couldn't be bothered to argue about the ownership of the golden bull with Daniel. He picked it up and examined it closely. "Dad, I see a thumbprint on the bull's neck. Whose thumbprint is it?" Noah handed the golden bull to Daniel.

Daniel's gaze flickered slightly when he saw the thumbprint, and he said, "That is a thumbprint, and it's mine."

"Why is your thumbprint on the golden bull?" Noah asked expressionlessly.
