Chapter 125 Kneeling Down
"Why can't my thumbprint be on it?" Daniel scoffed. "I sleep with the golden bull every night. Can't my thumbprint be on it?"
"You must have some incredible strength to leave a thumbprint on the bull's neck while you're asleep," Noah said, looking at Daniel with ridicule.
"What do you mean by that, Noah?" Daniel's face darkened abruptly.
"What do I mean, Daniel? Do I even need to say more? Did Chloe steal the horn or did you? Don't you have a clue?" Noah said coldly.
"Noah, do you really think I stole the horn?" Daniel glared at Noah angrily.
"If you didn’t steal it, why would your thumbprint be on the golden bull's neck?" Noah said.
"Though gold is relatively soft, cutting through a bull's horn still requires some strength. When you cut the horn, you exerted quite a bit of force to do it," Noah continued.
"Noah, you worthless person! How dare you try to accuse your father-in-law!" Daniel pointed at Noah, enraged.
"I'm not accusing you of anything; if you don't admit it, I'll call the police to handle it. The police can determine the direction of force applied when the horn was cut based on this thumbprint and confirm whether you stole it or not," Noah said calmly.
"And if Chloe stole it, she would definitely leave fingerprints on the horn. Even if she wore gloves, she would leave traces if she entered your room. The police can easily figure it out," Noah added.
"In short, if you still want to argue with me, then I'll call the police. If it turns out Chloe stole it, I'll apologize to you. But if you stole it and falsely accused a good person of theft, don't blame me for severing ties with you, my father-in-law," Noah said in a plain but ice-cold tone that weighed heavily on Daniel's ears.
Daniel's face turned somewhat unpleasant, and he finally glare.: "Fine, I admit it. I cut the horn."
"But Noah, you worthless person, don't you dare say I stole it, understand? Max gave Lisa the golden bull. Lisa's things are my things. Is it against the law for me to cut off my own horn?" Daniel said.
"You’re finally admitting it," Noah said coldly with a smile.
Chloe also breathed a sigh of relief, but tears still flowed as she felt extremely heartbroken: "Daniel, I have no grievances with you. Why did you accuse me of stealing the golden bull’s horn?"
Because of this incident, Daniel had slapped her and she had even kneeled before him.
"Hmph, what about it? You won’t be comfortable as my housekeeper!" Daniel said arrogantly.
"I won't kick you out this time, consider yourself lucky! But as long as you work as a housekeeper, I guarantee you won't have a good life," he added.
"Ah!" Chloe's face turned pale from fear.
"Dad, you just slapped Chloe and accused her of theft. Now, apologize to her," Noah said expressionlessly. "And also, since Chloe kneeled before you just now, you should also kneel before her as an apology. I will let go of this then."
Boom!
Daniel's whole body shook when he heard that.
Then, he looked at Noah in disbelief, his hair standing on end and veins bulging on his face. "What do you mean, Noah? You want me, your father-in-law, to kneel down and apologize to a housekeeper, a servant? Say it again if you have the guts!"
"Fine, I'll say it again." Noah stared directly at Daniel. "You kneel down now and apologize to Chloe. If you do, I won't pursue this matter any further."
Daniel, Noah's father-in-law and elder, often ridiculed and harassed Noah, but Noah endured it. It was like in some families where parents were unreasonable and abusive towards their children. However, children were still children, and they should respect and be filial to their elders. Even if they didn't respect them or show filial piety, they shouldn't violate their principles.
For example, in a family where the father drank, gambled, and didn't work every day, and even beat his children when he came home, the children could endure it, ignore it, or confront him, but they absolutely could not insult their father or even take a knife to him and commit patricide. They were still their elders.
Noah had always thought about it this way. Noah could tolerate Daniel's cold gazes, mockery, and harassment toward him. Daniel was his father-in-law, Lisa's beloved father. If Noah really did something to Daniel, Lisa would be very sad.
But Noah also had his principles. Daniel's unreasonable and arrogant behavior couldn't harm others or make Lisa unhappy. For example, the decorations and furniture. If they were placed in the house, Lisa would definitely not be happy about it, so Noah had stood up against him.
Also, when Daniel had hit someone in a hit-and-run, he had refused to admit it and accused the other person of insurance fraud. That had crossed Noah's bottom line. So, Noah had confronted him again.
And this time, Daniel had crossed the line again. He had falsely accused Chloe of being a thief and even physically assaulted her, forcing her to kneel down.
Daniel's actions had trampled upon Chloe's dignity. Noah could not just stand by and watch it happen.
At this moment, Daniel was so angry that his blood was boiling. His whole body was trembling, and his eyes turned red.
"What are you doing, Noah?!
"You threw away all the furniture and decorations I bought a few days ago, and I didn't hold you responsible for it. I let it go.
"You hired a housekeeper to come to our house without my consent, and I didn't hold you accountable for it either. I have been generous with you!"
Daniel raised his voice, gritting his teeth.
"But I didn't expect... but I didn't expect that you, a useless person, would actually make me kneel to a housekeeper! I am your father-in-law! I am Lisa's father! What gives you the audacity to say something like that to me?!"
"Daniel, I have tolerated you because you are my father-in-law and Lisa's father," Noah said coldly. "But you hit Chloe and made her kneel down. Put yourself in Chloe's shoes, what would you do if you were her?"
"Heh, I wouldn't put myself in her shoes!" Daniel sneered. "This housekeeper is just a servant, she has a worthless life. What's wrong with making her kneel? Can’t I do that?"
"Are you sure you won't kneel down?" Noah's voice was ice-cold.
"Dream on!"
Daniel's face turned pale as he said, "I would never kneel down to a housekeeper!"
"Well, since you refuse, I’ll have to call the police," Noah said calmly. "You mentioned that horn, valued at three hundred thousand, very accurately. I just don't know how many years that three hundred thousand would give you in prison."
"What? Noah, are you trying to call the police on me?" Daniel's face changed dramatically as he looked at Noah incredulously. "I'm your father-in-law, do you dare to call the police on your father-in-law?"
