Chapter 118 Who Do You Think You Are?
Swoosh!
It was a stone, cutting through the air.
Snap!
The stone hit the driver's hand.
"Ah!"
The driver let out a scream of pain and reflexively pulled back his hand. He looked at the back of his hand and saw that it had become swollen and painful.
Rumble...
The mother and daughter looked up and saw that the excavator's bulldozer had stopped.
"Huh? What's happening?"
Caleb furrowed his brows and looked over at Noah. His gaze landed on Ethan and he immediately smiled.
"Oh, Ethan is here! And why did you bring so many people with you?"
"Caleb, like this isn't very nice, is it?"
Ethan glanced at the mother and daughter, his face darkening.
"What's not nice about it? My demolition method is efficient. Everything can be demolished within a week," Caleb grinned. "Besides, Ethan, you already assigned this area to me. You took my bribe and signed the contract. You shouldn't be meddling."
"Maybe not, but the contract doesn't say you can use violence for demolition," Ethan said coldly. "Your actions have violated the contract."
"These cheap commoners refuse to leave. They want one hundred thousand dollars each. I’ve been forced to use violence." Caleb shrugged.
"Caleb, the contract states that each household should receive three hundred thousand dollars. What do you mean you’re giving them only one hundred thousand?" Ethan raised his voice.
"What do I mean? Do you think I don't want to make money? I need to support my workers. Are you suggesting that I let them go hungry?" Caleb glared at Ethan without fear.
"Whatever, I won't waste my time talking to you. Men, move those two aside. They're obstructing our demolition work."
"Alright!"
Immediately, two workers walked toward the mother and daughter, reaching out to drag them away.
"Ah! You can’t demolish this house!
"I beg you not to demolish my house!"
The mother and daughter burst into tears.
As it seemed like the mother and daughter were about to be dragged away...
Swoosh!
Two more stones flew through the air.
This time, the stones landed on the foreheads of the two workers.
The two workers trembled and screamed in pain, holding their foreheads.
"It hurts so much!" they stepped back, looking at their bloody palms.
Caleb finally glanced at Noah and saw him holding a few stones in his hands.
Both the mother and daughter turned their gaze toward Noah with gratitude. They knew that this young man had stopped the two workers.
"What are you doing, kid?" Caleb's face turned cold. "You injured the driver of my excavator earlier. I didn’t say anything because of Ethan. And now you've injured two more of my people. Are you looking for trouble?"
Noah remained calm and ignored Caleb. Instead, he stepped forward and helped the mother and daughter to their feet.
"Thank you, Sir!" the little girl said in a sweet voice as she looked up at Noah with her big eyes.
She was very cute.
"Thank you for saving us." The woman also looked at Noah, her face filled with gratitude. However, she expressed concern. "But you should stay away from here. Caleb has dozens of people under his command, and his methods are ruthless. If you provoke him, you’ll definitely suffer."
The woman looked back at the breakfast shop, her eyes filled with tears, and said desolately, "This house was passed down to me by my father-in-law. In any case, I won't let this kind of person demolish it. I am prepared to die."
Noah smiled gently, touched the little girl's head, and said to the woman, "Don't worry, now that I’m here, this house won't be demolished. I promise you that the relocation in this area will be handled according to the law and will satisfy you."
"Oh, who are you, kid?" Caleb sneered when he heard that. "The relocation in this area is my responsibility. The contracts have been signed and I can demolish as I please! Who do you think you are?"
"Caleb, right?" Noah turned around and looked at Caleb, his voice suddenly indifferent. "I'll give you two options. First, you can be in charge of the relocation in this area, but you must adhere to the contract and give each household 300,000 dollars without any reduction. Violent demolition is prohibited.
"The second option is for you to immediately leave this place, and I'll bring in someone else to handle the demolition."
"Heh, who do you think you are, kid? How dare you talk to me like that?" Caleb's eyes were full of disdain. "The contracts have been signed, even Ethan can't change anything. This area is mine for demolition! Do you think you're the head of the slum redevelopment? Do you think you're a high-ranking member of Noah Capital?"
"So, you've chosen the second option?" Noah's voice remained indifferent.
"Fucking kid, don't talk to me like that, or I'll break both your legs!" Caleb cursed loudly. "Do you know that Ryan is behind me?"
"Oh, I remember now. Ethan told me that you broke the legs of a resident when you were demolishing houses. The injured person is at home waiting to die because they have no money."
Noah spoke without hesitation and looked at Caleb before saying, "Today, I’ll break both your legs too."
As soon as Ethan heard that, he shouted, "Go!"
Noah had given the order to break Caleb's legs. Ethan charged forward without hesitation.
His followers followed suit and rushed toward Caleb.
Caleb was confused as he had not expected Ethan to suddenly attack him. Most of his men were working and were caught off guard.
In the next moment, Caleb was surrounded by more than ten people. Fists, shovels, and hammers were raining down on him.
Caleb screamed in agony. "It hurts so much!"
His subordinates, who were about to fight back, realized that Caleb was already being held by four people. His face was swollen and covered in blood and looked a pitiful sight.
Ethan seized the chainsaw and pulled it fiercely. The sound of the saw starting filled the air. Ethan gripped the chainsaw with both hands, stared menacingly at Caleb's men, and warned, "Don't come any closer, or I'll saw him!"
The restless men immediately halted their advance.
"Stay where you are, don't move!" Caleb, terrified, yelled with a pale face. He truly feared that Ethan would saw off his head in an instant.
"Ethan, if you have any demands, just say it. Keep the chainsaw away from me, I'm afraid of dying." Caleb's voice trembled as he spoke.
"Kneel!" Ethan kicked Caleb's butt with force. Caleb fell straight to the ground, landing on his knees in front of Noah.
With his hands behind his back, Noah looked down at Caleb indifferently and said, "I just said to break his legs."
"Bring someone here to break his legs!" Ethan ordered. Following his command, two of his men approached with shovels in hand.
"What... what are you doing?" Caleb panicked and shouted, his complexion turning pale.
Ethan kicked Caleb in the back once more, causing him to fall face-first to the ground.
"Let go of me!
"What are you doing?" Caleb struggled relentlessly but to no avail. Four people approached and pinned him down. Two men held onto the shovels, aimed at Caleb's knees and smashed them viciously. Two crisp cracks resounded.
"Ah! It hurts!"
Caleb looked up and let out a piercing scream. His knee had been broken.
