Chapter 241
After saying that, George hung up the phone.
Noah shook his head helplessly. George was just like Daniel, so unreasonable.
He waited for a whole hour and Noah was about to fall asleep.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Someone knocked on his car window.
Noah looked over and saw two people standing outside.
One was a middle-aged man, around fifty or sixty years old, with a dark complexion and sunken cheeks. He was short in stature and was wearing a dirty white coarse cloth garment, covered in dust. In his hand, he was carrying a sack.
At this moment, he was using a pair of narrow eyes to size up Noah.
The man standing next to Noah is Jasmine, George's daughter. She is in her early twenties, wearing a red dress and heavy makeup, with bright red blush on her cheeks. She looks at Noah with disdain. Jasmine is Noah's sister.
"You're Noah, right?" George asks as he looks Noah up and down. Noah nods and unlocks the car door.
"Dad, I thought you said we would be riding in a Mercedes. Why is it a van now?" Jasmine looks at Noah's car and complains, "I wanted to experience what it's like to ride in a Mercedes!"
"Hehe, Daniel may drive a Mercedes, but he wouldn't lend it to his son-in-law. What if he scratches it? That's probably why," George chuckles and gets in the car. "But Daniel isn't very loyal, making Noah drive a van here. I don't know what to say about him."
"Sigh, I wanted to experience what it's like to ride in a Mercedes," Jasmine shakes her head helplessly and gets in the car too.
Jasmine glanced out of the window at the magnificent and luxurious villas, her mouth agape in astonishment, as if she had entered the grandiose garden like Liu Laoliu.
Having grown up in a village, she had rarely seen even a residential complex, let alone such high-end villas.
"I never thought you would live in such a nice place," Jasmine looked at Noah, "I noticed that the entrances to those villas are filled with BMWs, Audis, and Mercedes-Benz cars. Aren't you embarrassed to drive a van here?"
"It's my own money that bought the car. Nothing to be embarrassed about. No stealing, no robbing," Noah replied expressionlessly.
"Jasmine, you don't know," George interjected, "I've heard from our relatives that this villa belongs to Lisa. She got a big project and apparently this villa was specially assigned to their company, worth several tens of millions!"
"I see. So it seems Noah has benefitted from Lisa's good fortune to be able to live in this place," Jasmine laughed mockingly, her voice tinged with sarcasm.
They soon arrived at the entrance of the villa, where Daniel was already waiting to greet them.
"Long time no see!" Daniel smiled when he saw George getting out of the car.
"Yeah, it's been almost ten years," George nodded, also revealing a smile as he looked at the villa in front of them with envy, "You've become a rich man now! Living in such a nice villa! Unlike me, still living in a mud house in the village!"
"Ah, I have a good daughter. If it weren't for Lisa, my daughter, I wouldn't be able to live in such a nice villa," Daniel said, feeling a sense of pride wash over him, though he pretended to be modest.
"Daniel, hello!" Jasmine got out of the car and greeted Daniel.
"Oh, Jasmine!" Daniel's eyes lit up, "You've become so beautiful after all these years!"
"Where did you get that idea?" Jasmine blushed.
Beep beep!
Noah locked the car and couldn't be bothered to stand aside and watch Daniel chat, so he walked straight into the house.
Seeing Noah leave, George frowned.
"Daniel, your son-in-law lacks manners! He doesn't even offer to bring us inside for a cup of tea."
"Oh, George, my son-in-law is just like that. If you get used to it, it's fine," Daniel hurriedly forced a smile, cursing Noah in his heart.
This useless son-in-law only knows how to embarrass me!
Would it have killed him to take the initiative and invite our relatives inside for a cup of tea?!
"Jasmine, you've grown up so much. Have you found a boyfriend yet?" Daniel shifted his gaze back to Jasmine.
"Not yet, still waiting," Jasmine replied.
Jasmine shook her head and said, "My man must have a house and a car, with a monthly salary of tens of thousands. Only then can he be worthy of being my boyfriend. But up until now, I haven't found my Prince Charming. But I believe that one day, he will come for me!"
There was anticipation in Jasmine's eyes.
"Great, it's good to have such aspirations!"
Daniel praised, "Daniel, you may not know much about dating, but you do have some experience."
"When looking for a boyfriend, never look for someone like my son-in-law Noah. This guy doesn't do anything all day, just eats and waits for death. At one point, he said he was going to deliver takeout and I was actually relieved, thinking that this useless guy finally had some ambition and found a job."
"But how many days has it been? This kid stopped working. I haven't seen him deliver takeout at all in these past few days. He has no perseverance at all! This is how his whole life will be."
"Daniel, are you saying that Noah doesn't have a job?" Jasmine widened her eyes, unable to believe it.
"Yes, he doesn't have a job," Daniel sighed.
"How can that be!"
Jasmine covered her mouth in surprise. "No job and no income? Who supports him?"
"Isn't it your sister Lisa? She works every day, early morning till late night, just to support this useless Noah," Daniel said helplessly.
"Ah? Lisa is so pitiful!"
Pity appeared in Jasmine's eyes. "In the future, I absolutely cannot marry someone like Noah, so as not to end up like sister Lisa."
"It's good that you have the determination," Daniel nodded. "Come on, let's go inside and stop standing outside!"
"Okay!"
Daniel led the two of them into the house, and after they settled down, he called out,
"Chloe, we have guests, bring some tea!"
Chloe brought the tea and placed it on the table.
"Daniel, you're amazing, living the life of the rich, being able to afford even a nanny!"
George gestured a thumbs up towards Daniel, filled with envy.
"Wow, Dad, look, there's a small golden cow, it looks so beautiful!"
Jasmine pointed to the center of the living room, where a golden bull was displayed, lifelike.
In order to save face in front of relatives, Daniel had brought out the bedroom's golden bull and the carved statue of the Greek god.
George stepped forward and touched the bull, saying,
"Daniel, is this bull gold-plated?"
"Gold-plated? How is that possible!"
Daniel smirked proudly, "This bull is pure gold!"
"Pure gold!"
George's eyes widened, finding it hard to believe.
"Then how much is this bull worth?"
"Probably around seven million," Daniel said nonchalantly.
"Over 7 million!" George's legs went weak with shock, and he sat on the ground, his teeth chattering. "This Golden Bull... over 7 million! It's too expensive, isn't it?" 7 million was a number he couldn't even imagine.
"Daniel, where did this Golden Bull come from?" George asked again.
"When our family moved, a real estate developer gave it to my daughter Lisa to please her," Daniel replied.
Seeing George's expression, Daniel's smugness grew even stronger.
