Chapter 63 Gift Money

Lisa looked confusedly at Noah. She had no idea about the relationship between Noah and Michael.

"There’s no need to congratulate me," Michael waved his hand. "I should thank you. If it wasn't for you, my dad wouldn't have asked me to come work at his company."

" I'm the manager at my dad's company now, with an annual salary of over three hundred thousand dollars. I even found a girlfriend. I've realized that entrepreneurship is not worth it. It's much better to inherit the family business and live comfortably for the rest of your life!"

Michael kissed the woman's cheek and then looked at Lisa.

"Lisa, I've realized that I was a fool. I was so infatuated with you back then, but now I see that you're nothing special."

"Wait, you're the person Michael liked before?" The woman beside him looked Lisa up and down and sneered.

"Well, you really are nothing special. You're not that good looking. And I have to thank you, if it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have found such a great boyfriend."

She held tightly onto Michael's arm and smiled. "Do you see this bag around my waist? It's LV, worth over ten thousand dollars. Michael bought it for me! And the cosmetics inside the bag are all Dior, worth over twenty thousand dollars. Can your poor husband afford to buy you such high-quality cosmetics?"

"Sorry, I don’t really use cosmetics," Lisa said calmly.

"You don’t? I guess it's because you can't afford them, or maybe you only use cheap cosmetics from roadside stalls. You're too embarrassed to admit it," the woman teased.

"I have to thank you for introducing me to Noah. He pays for my monthly nail and hair salon visits, as well as photon skin treatments. I'm very happy with him," Lisa said gratefully.

The woman sneered, her tone filled with sarcasm, "Women need proper maintenance. I can already foresee your future. If you don't take care of yourself now, in three years, you'll have wrinkles and become an old hag. Ah, it's such a pity that your husband is poor. You can't even keep your own beauty!"

Michael nodded, a hint of disdain in his eyes.

"Lisa, you’re a fool for being with that loser Noah. You'll turn into an old hag eventually! Oh, by the way, Lisa, I have something to tell you. I are getting engaged in two days. Since we were college classmates, it's only right for you to contribute some money to the engagement," he said.

"Money for the engagement? Dream on!" Lisa rolled her eyes. "We have no relationship whatsoever, so why should I give you money? Even if I did, it would be a waste."

"I knew it," Michael sighed. "You must be living a hard life since you’re married to Noah. You can't even afford engagement money."

"Lisa, Michael is your college classmate and used to be my boss. It's customary to give money for an engagement like this." Noah suddenly spoke up.

"How can we give this kind of person money for the engagement?" Lisa shook her head. "It would be a waste, and we won't get anything in return."

"Why would it be a waste? We'll be moving to a new house in a little while and we'll definitely have a wedding banquet. Just make sure Michael returns the money then." Noah smiled.

"We’ll be moving to a new house?" Lisa was taken aback.

Michael also froze for a moment but then burst into laughter. "You're kidding me, Noah. You're moving to a new house? Is it another rundown building in a walk-up apartment? Well, I guess that’s still a house. I'll pay for the engagement then! Oh, and don't forget to invite me over to see your new house!"

"When did we decide to move to a new house, Noah?" Lisa was confused; she had no idea about this.

"We’ll be moving in about half a month, you'll see it. It's currently under renovation," Noah said casually.

"Noah, you're not buying a second-hand house or property from speculators, are you? You’ll be a savior for other people!" Michael laughed again. "I think that's all you can afford."

Noah couldn't be bothered to argue and just hugged Lisa's shoulder as they walked out of the room. "Let's go, Lisa. Oh, and Michael, I'll transfer the engagement money to you."

"Huh, who are you trying to fool? Just buying a second-hand house makes you so arrogant!" Michael sneered. "I live in a villa; you can't even compare!"

"There’s no need to get mad over that loser. He’s not even on your level," the woman comforted. "I'll make sure you feel good tonight."

"Yeah." Michael's eyes lit up.

...

"When did you buy a house, honey? Where is it?" Lisa finally couldn't help but ask when they got back home.

"I bought it a couple days ago. It’s that one villa in the best location, halfway up Golden Summit Peak," Noah replied.

"Stop playing around!"

Lisa rolled her eyes at Noah. That house had been sold for 78 million to some mysterious rich man. There was no way Noah could afford it.

"You'll find out in two weeks," Noah said.

"Fine, if you want to be all mysterious. I won't ask then."

Lisa pouted, although she didn't have much hope.

Michael had a point. That house was probably an old house or one of those speculative houses, with a slightly lower price compared to the current market and not in the best location.

But Lisa was already happy to be getting a new house. It had always been her wish.

...

The next evening, Noah suddenly received a call from Lisa.

"Come to my office, honey."

"What's up?" Noah asked suspiciously.

"That Ivan from yesterday has been standing downstairs for almost an hour now. It seems like he wants to pick me up after work." Lisa sounded scared.

"I see, wait for me." Noah hung up the phone, his gaze turning cold.

This Ivan was quite bold. He was trying to pick up Lisa right in front of Noah's eyes. What was he thinking?

Noah immediately left the house. It was rush hour now and if he took a taxi, he estimated he would be stuck for half an hour.

He might as well take the second-hand bike. If he was fast enough, he could get there in about fifteen minutes.

Fifteen minutes later, Noah arrived on his bike at Lisa's office building.

At this moment, Ivan was standing by the side of the road, looking at his watch.

It was a Vacheron Constantin watch, reflecting the evening sun, and was quite eye-catching.

"Only ten more minutes before she gets off work." Ivan calculated the time.

Beside him was a white Audi A4L. The passenger window open and there were a total of 99 roses arranged on the seat. It looked vibrant and romantic.

Clank clank...

Ivan heard the sound of metal friction.

Ivan looked over and was instantly stunned.

He saw a young man, riding a bike, approaching him unsteadily.

That sound was the sound of the bike's iron chain.

"Noah..." Ivan's eyes widened. He was speechless.

What was he doing riding a bike?

And the handlebar of the bike seemed rusty. How old was that bike? Had it been produced in the last century?

Finally, Ivan couldn't help but burst into laughter, clutching his stomach and pointing at the bicycle.

"Hahaha, Noah, are you trying to make me laugh myself to death so that no one will compete with you for Lisa? What are you doing on a bicycle?"

Noah remained indifferent as the bicycle he was relying on broke so he had to lean it against a lamppost.

"I'm here to pick up my wife," he said calmly.

"You’re riding a bicycle to pick up your wife? It’s the first time I've seen something like this!" Ivan continued to laugh.

"What do you say? Why don't you just ride an electric bike instead? A bicycle... hahaha!"
