Chapter 78 The House on Golden Summit Peak
"Zoe!" Larry immediately stood up and shouted.
"So you're Larry," Zoe looked Larry up and down and nodded approvingly. "Sarah told me about you. You’re a hardworking man who takes care of the family. Sarah was lucky to marry you!"
"Hello, Zoe," Noah said, standing up as well.
He hadn't seen his mother-in-law, Zoe, many times, but it was still polite to address her properly.
"So you're Noah?" Zoe looked Noah up and down, furrowing her eyebrows. "I heard from relatives that you are a useless person without a decent job. My daughter Lisa married you, what bad luck."
"You're really stupid, Daniel. Are you blind? Couldn't you have found a better son-in-law? Someone like Larry?" Zoe looked at Daniel again. "Aren't you worried that Lisa will suffer with him?"
Daniel's face turned awkward. "I didn't want to find someone like Noah either, but at that time, Lisa insisted on marrying him, so I had no choice! At that time, he seemed alright, he had also graduated from college, who knew he would turn out to be such a useless person!"
"Hmph, you're the one who was blind!" Zoe snorted coldly. "I'm glad I divorced you back then. Otherwise, I wouldn't know how difficult life would be with someone like you!"
She raised her hand and waved it in front of Daniel: "Do you see this ring on my finger? It's worth seventy to eighty thousand dollars. If I were with you, could you buy me such nice jewelry?"
"You just bought a few pieces of jewelry, stop showing off!"
Daniel didn't back down and took out his car keys. "Do you see the logo on This? It's a Mercedes-Benz. I'm driving a Mercedes-Benz now too! It's an E350L, worth over six hundred thousand dollars. Isn't that more valuable than your cheap jewelry?"
Lisa shook her head helplessly. They had divorced back then was because Zoe despised Daniel for being poor. In the end, Zoe had married a wealthy boss.
Now, every time they meet, they always compared their lives.
"A Mercedes-Benz? Did you buy it yourself?"
Zoe was stunned. "Daniel, I know exactly what kind of person you are. You care too much about your image, but you're not willing to work hard. When you were young, you were just like that useless Noah. Can you really afford a Mercedes-Benz? Are you kidding me?"
Daniel secretly glanced at Lisa. That car had actually been a gift from her.
But he still stood tall and said, "I bought this car myself and paid in full! I made a few hundred thousand dollars from investments a couple of years ago, so I bought the car! How about that, are you jealous?"
"Heh, I didn't expect that you could afford a Mercedes-Benz," Zoe sneered, feeling jealous inside.
Daniel, on the other hand, was very pleased to show off in front of his ex-wife. Naturally, he felt great.
"Lisa, I’ve been through it all."
Zoe looked at Lisa and said, "When you look for a husband, you must find a wealthy one, or at least someone with ambition. They can't just idle around like that Noah. Otherwise, your life will be miserable!"
"Mom, Noah is great, and I love him," Lisa said seriously.
"What's so great about that worthless person?"
Zoe rolled her eyes. "Right now, all you think about is living happily ever after with your loved one. That's how I used to be too.
"But in the end, I divorced your father and married someone wealthy. My life is comfortable now. I relax and walk my dogs every day. I'm no different from a wealthy wife. I hope you’ll be able to live this life too, so for now, what you need to do is divorce Noah."
"What your mom says makes sense, Lisa. I support her on this," Daniel said.
"Lisa, when I get to the health bureau, I'll help you look around," Mike chimed in. "Many talented young people work in government agencies, and there must be someone who’ll suit you, Lisa. Anyway, someone like Noah is not good enough to be my brother-in-law!"
"Good, you knows how to take care of people, Mike!"
Zoe nodded in satisfaction. "Now that you're a government official, and you're smart and clever, your career should go smoothly. You should keep an eye on Lisa and take care of her!"
"Don't worry, Zoe. I've got this!" Mike patted his chest.
"Mom and dad, I’ll it one last time, I will never divorce Noah!" Lisa spoke with determination.
"And Noah is great, he’s very ambitious and not the loser you make him out to be. Just a few days ago, he bought a house!"
"A house?"
Everyone was stunned.
"Wow, Noah bought a house?"
Jake was the first to speak. "Is it a second-hand house someone else was selling? Or maybe a dilapidated house in a corner somewhere?"
"It might be a dangerous house!" Mike chuckled, covering his mouth.
"Noah, where did you get the money to buy a house? You didn’t steal it or rob someone, right?" Sarah curiously asked.
"Sarah, some houses actually only require a down payment of a few thousand dollars, they don't cost much," Larry explained. "Like the dilapidated house that Jake mentioned, or a small second-hand house. You can buy those with a down payment of fifty to sixty thousand."
Sarah nodded. "It seems like Noah must have bought that kind of house. Maybe he’ll only live there for a few days before it collapses!"
"Where is the house you bought, Noah?" Zoe asked, "It's not in some desolate place, right?"
Lisa felt a bit uneasy because she also didn't know where Noah's house was located.
"The house is in Golden Summit Peak," Noah said casually.
Golden Summit Peak!
Everyone present fell silent.
"Hahaha!"
Jake couldn't hold back any longer. He laughed heartily while clutching his stomach. "Noah, are you asleep? You must be dreaming. I can’t believe you’re saying you bought a house in Golden Summit Peak!"
Sarah slapped her thigh and nearly lost her breath from laughing. "Hahaha, Noah, oh Noah, you... you're too funny! We all usually ignore you, but you didn’t have to say something like that just to get our attention!"
"Summit Retreat Oasis? Each one starts at tens of millions. You... you actually said you bought a house there. I can't take it... I'm laughing too much, hahaha!"
"You’re lying again?"
Daniel was so angry that he sputtered. Noah always embarrassed him!
It was bad enough when they were with James. Now he was humiliating himself in front of his ex-wife.
He had just managed to get the upper hand by showing off his Mercedes, but now Zoe would look down on him again.
Sure enough, Zoe spoke, "Daniel, you really disappoint me. I can’t believe you approved of such a boastful waste of a son-in-law!"
She then looked at Lisa, "Lisa, now you know how much your husband likes to brag, right? Are you going to be happy with this kind of man? Get a divorce quickly!"
"Don't worry about it, I’ll find a good man for Lisa!" Mike immediately said, looking at Noah. "And Noah, please leave, you're not welcome here! You're just a loser, you’re good enough to eat with us!"
Suddenly, Mike's phone rang.
