Chapter 56 Reunion
Noah was startled. He hadn’t expected Mia to do that.
He reacted quickly, blocking his face with one hand and holding onto Mia's shoulder with the other.
Noah stopped Mia Just before the red lips landed on his face.
"I'm not interested in you." Noah pushed Mia away expressionlessly.
"Noah... you..." Mia was surprised.
She had thought that Noah's indifference was an act and that he would agree to be with her if she took the initiative.
But now it seemed that Noah truly had no feelings for her, just as he said.
A wave of despair, pain, and sadness flooded Mia's heart, and she started crying again.
"Noah, I don't think I'm too bad-looking myself, why are you treating me like this...? Sob... sob..."
Bang!
Noah impatiently closed the door as she cried.
"Sob... sob!"
"Noah, I like you!"
"Can't you give me a chance... sob..."
Outside the door, Mia's crying grew louder.
Noah couldn't be bothered and went back to his room to sleep.
...
Wealth Square.
Sarah and Larry walked out of the building, both with unpleasant expressions on their faces.
"Damn it, that Everett guy is too condescending! He said we're nothing and it’s not worth talking to the higher-ups at Noah Capital!" Sarah angrily expressed, feeling insulted.
The situation was simple.
Lisa had taken the two of them to Noah Capital's headquarters to discuss the change of CEO position.
The higher-ups at Noah Capital, including Everett, received them warmly.
But the warm reception was only for Lisa. They served her tea and smiled politely.
However, when it came to Sarah and Larry, they didn't even offer them a seat, let alone serve them tea.
Lisa proposed to have Larry become the CEO, but Everett immediately sneered. "Give it up? Impossible!"
"He’s a mere construction worker, what makes him think he can be the CEO?"
"The CEO was unanimously decided by the higher-ups at Noah Capital. Even a construction worker like him doesn't have the qualification to speak to me."
In short, Everett's words were venomous. He said whatever he wanted, and in the end, he even mentioned that Larry's company wouldn't get even a drop of profit from the slum renovation!
In the end, Larry and Sarah slunk away from Wealth Square, feeling dejected.
"The higher-ups at Noah Capital are idiots!"
Larry started the car. "My experience and abilities are just as good as Lisa's. I should be the one in that position! Just you wait, with Lisa in charge, the slum is definitely going to encounter trouble within half a month!"
"We have to discuss this with Dad!" Sarah took out her phone and dialed Daniel's number.
...
In the evening, Daniel told Lisa to have dinner at his place again.
Since it was his father-in-law's orders, Noah had to wait for Lisa to finish work so they could drive to his father-in-law's house together.
"I heard that Summit Retreat Oasis was auctioned off today. The building in the middle of the hillside was for sale. Several billionaires were competing fiercely for it."
Daniel was eating his meal and casually said, "That auction was livestreamed, and the final transaction price for that villa was 78 million dollars!"
"78 million dollars?!" Larry and Sarah were both stunned. That amount of money was terrifying to them.
"Yeah, an ordinary person can’t earn that in several lifetimes, but the wealthy use it to buy villas," Daniel sighed lightly.
"I don't understand the world of the wealthy," Lisa said.
"Heh, Lisa, you'll understand sooner or later. After all, you're still in charge now. You won’t just become wealthy in just one or two years, right?" Sarah chuckled and a hint of jealousy flashed in her eyes.
"Even if you earn that kind of money, you can't buy anything at Summit Retreat Oasis. It shouldn't be a problem for you to buy an average villa though!" Sarah said.
"An average villa is not interesting. To be honest, I would also like to live on Golden Summit Peak and experience that villa," Daniel said with a hint of envy in his tone. "I just don't know if there's any hope for me in this lifetime. There’s no way Noah will earn enough for that, so I’ll have to pin my hopes on Larry."
"I’ll work hard so you can live in Summit Retreat Oasis within twenty years!" Larry quickly said.
Daniel nodded approvingly. "Sarah already told me about what happened today. Lisa, you're still in charge of the impoverished district project, right?"
"Yes, Dad. Noah Capital's upper management didn't agree to give the position to Larry," Lisa said.
"Who knows if you gave them a heads up in advance? Otherwise, why would Noah Capital's upper management refuse so decisively without thinking about it? They didn't even give you a chance to speak!" Sarah smirked coldly.
"I promised to give the position to Larry, so I couldn't have given them a heads up beforehand! I'm not that hypocritical!" Lisa angrily replied.
"It's hard to tell whether you're hypocritical or not." Sarah said.
Lisa wanted to explain further.
"Alright, stop arguing!" Daniel slammed the table and glared at Lisa. "Lisa, Sarah is still your sister. You need to watch your attitude when you talk to her!"
"I..." Lisa suddenly couldn't find any words to say, feeling very wronged. She didn't understand why her father was taking Sarah’s side.
Sarah, on the other hand, secretly chuckled.
"I called you all here to discuss one thing," Daniel said. "Lisa, since you're still in charge, why don’t you give any outsourceable projects related to the impoverished district to Larry? What do you think about my proposal?"
"No, it's not possible," Lisa shook her head. "The upper management of the company has already made it clear that they will not work with the company where Larry works."
