Chapter 69 Meeting

Noah arrived at the Oceanbridge City Emperor Bar in the afternoon.

"Please follow me, Noah." Lucas immediately greeted Noah respectfully upon seeing him.

They entered the elevator and went up to the sixth floor. Noah arrived in Mason's study.

"Noah!"

Mason had been focused on reading, but immediately put down his book when he heard the noise and saw Noah enter.

"You're here!" He stepped forward.

"What are you reading?" Noah looked at the desk.

"Some scripture. I want to repent a little after shedding so much blood." Mason smiled.

"Repent? Does repenting actually work?" Noah shook his head. "If repenting were as simple as reading scripture to eliminate your sins, everyone would believe in God."

"You're right, Noah." Mason rubbed his chin. "But reading scripture might give me a psychological comfort, so at least I won't have nightmares at night."

Noah didn't dwell on this issue and instead asked, "Do you know Garrett?"

"I do," Mason nodded. "He’s greedy and lustful by nature. He holds a prominent position in the real estate industry in Oceanbridge City and has some connections to the underworld. Although we have no conflicts, a few people at Splendid Real Estate Company actually work for me."

"Why would your people work in his company?" Noah looked at Mason unexpectedly.

"One should always be cautious," Mason replied with a smile.

Mason smiled and said, "Although I have no ill intentions toward Garrett, I can't guarantee that he won't try to sabotage me. That’s why I placed some people in his company."

He added, "In fact, I have placed people wherever there is a potential threat to me anywhere in Oceanbridge City."

Noah praised, "How impressive, you old fox."

"Haha, I had no choice. I've been taken advantage of too many times in the past." Mason laughed.

"If you have time, help me investigate Garrett. He recently took over the outsourcing project in the slum area and secured one-third of the project," Noah said.

"Since you said he’s greedy and lustful, I'm afraid he won't settle for just one-third and might do something," Noah expressed his concerns.

"Alright, Noah." Mason nodded.

After some more small talk, Noah left.

...

In the evening, Lisa served a delicious meal during dinner.

"Honey, I'm going out to discuss the details of the slum redevelopment project with Garrett. I’m not eating dinner," Lisa said.

Lisa carried a briefcase and wore a black suit, giving off a powerful and confident aura.

She looked at Noah affectionately and said, "You should eat, don't go hungry! Once we settle the details, construction will start in the slum area, and I’ll start making money! Our life will only get better!"

"Okay, honey, take care!" Noah ate his meal and casually asked, "By the way, where did Garrett arrange to meet you?"

"We agreed to meet at a Japanese cuisine restaurant called 'Suzuki-ya'."

Lisa seemed puzzled and said, "Usually, business meetings are held at cafes or something similar, as the atmosphere is more relaxed. But he specifically chose a Japanese restaurant."

"Did you ask why?" Noah frowned. This Garrett guy seemed a bit strange.

"I did. Garrett said that the restaurant is good, and the private rooms are quiet, which makes it suitable for business discussions," Lisa explained.

She looked at the time and said, "It’s getting late, honey. I'm going now."

"Okay, remember to call me if you have any problems." Noah nodded.

Shortly after Lisa left, Noah's phone rang.

"Noah, I found something out," Mason said. "Larry went to Garrett's Splendid Real Estate Company yesterday."

"Larry went to see Garrett?" Noah's eyes narrowed. "Why?"

"We’re not sure. Larry and Garrett had a private discussion in a room," Mason said.

"However, when Garrett went to Suzuki-ya today, he had his subordinates prepare a dose of Rohypnol and ether. That subordinate is someone who’s been working undercover with me, so we just discovered that."

"Rohypnol and ether?" Noah's gaze turned cold instantly. He knew that those were substances that could induce anesthesia and strong hallucinations.

"Take some people with you to Suzuki-ya. I’ll go there right now," Noah said immediately.

"Okay, Noah."

...

Half an hour later, Noah arrived at Suzuki-ya.

"Noah!"

Mason had already arrived. He was dressed in a gray suit, and held an iron stone in his hand.

Several black Buick business cars were parked by the road, and the doors opened, forty to fifty well-dressed men got out of the cars.

"Hello, Noah!"

" Hello, Noah!"

" Hello, Noah!"

They all bowed their heads and shouted in unison.

"Are there enough people, or should I get some more?" Mason asked.

"It'll be enough." Noah looked at Suzuki-ya. "Is this an important restaurant?"

"No." Mason shook his head. "I’ve already checked. The owner of Suzuki-ya is a student who studied abroad in the island country and returned to open this restaurant. It's an average business with not much traffic."

Obviously, Mason had prepared for Noah's arrival.

" I asked about it earlier. Lisa and Garrett's private room is called "Kobe Palace." I’ve reserved a seat in the adjacent "Tokyo Hall,"" Mason added.

"Then let's go in and have these guys go to other private rooms," Noah said.

Noah stepped into Suzuki-ya.

"Great!" Mason and Noah entered the restaurant together. Since they had already reserved a seat, a waitress led them to a private room.

They took off their slippers and sat on the floor. There was a faint fragrance in the air, and candles were burning in the corners of the room.

"What would you like to eat, gentlemen?" The waitress handed them the menu.

She was dressed in a white kimono, had wooden clogs on her feet, her hair was pinned up, and her face was painted with blush, giving her a touch of an island country woman's charm.

Noah ordered some salmon and sushi, and that was it.

During the process, Noah listened attentively to the conversations in the adjacent private room.

The private rooms in the restaurant were all separated by wooden partitions with canvas on top, with average sound insulation.

In addition, Noah had been trained, so his hearing was much better than the average person. He immediately heard the sounds from the adjacent room.

"Lisa, try this salmon. The tuna at this restaurant tastes great," Garrett called out.

"No thanks, I'm not a big fan of fish," Lisa replied seriously. "Garrett, let's talk about the details of the slum area reconstruction."

She took out a thick stack of files from her briefcase and placed them on the table.

"This is about one-third of your project that we need to discuss, which is the future planning and construction of these projects..."

"Oh,Lisa, don't be so serious!" Garrett interrupted Lisa.

"Since I’ve taken on the project in the impoverished area, we will certainly have many opportunities to interact in the future, so we’ll naturally become friends! Since we’re friends, why don’t we chat and eat at the same time? Let's put work aside for now."

"Garrett, work is work, and friendship is a different thing. We should discuss work first before talking about other things."

Lisa frowned slightly. After Garrett called her to the private room, he had been vague about the impoverished area project and was instead trying to get closer to her.

This made Lisa somewhat dissatisfied.

"Haha, why should we rush work,Lisa? Let's have a meal first!"

Garrett rubbed his bald head and laughed. "Let me tell you, the most famous thing about this restaurant is vodka. It's the essence of the island nation. You must try it!"

After speaking, Garrett poured a glass of alcohol for Lisa.

He pushed the glass toward Lisa.

"Come on , take a sip!"

Garrett stared at Lisa, his eyes showing a hint of strangeness - greed, anticipation, and excitement.
