Chapter 397 Flattery
The journalists at today's real estate conference were already crafting some clickbait headlines.
#Shocking! Why is a real estate tycoon so respectful to a teenager?
#Silverlight City Real Estate Conference: A Mysterious Teen Appears!
"Mr. Anderson!" Daryl walked up to Noah and greeted respectfully.
"How are things over in Oceanbridge City?" Noah asked, glancing at him.
"Pretty good. The real estate market is steadily progressing, and I've made quite a bit of money," Daryl grinned. "Of course, all of this is thanks to you, Mr. Anderson. Without you, I wouldn't be where I am today."
Noah nodded. "Have you liquidated your company's assets?"
"Sure. Excluding properties like neighborhoods and buildings, I have about $30 billion in liquid assets," Daryl replied.
Previously, his net worth was around $3-4 billion. In such a short time, it had increased nearly tenfold, which was an astonishing growth rate.
For others, it might take decades to achieve this.
"And with my current credentials, I can secure loans of over $100 billion from banks, so entering the Silverlight City real estate market shouldn't be a problem," Daryl added.
"I've also made quite a few friends in the industry here, so it will be easy to establish myself. Capturing 30% of the market within two years isn't too big of a challenge."
"That sounds good." Noah nodded. Silverlight City, being a top-tier city and the capital of Imperial State, had a real estate market worth over a trillion dollars!
With just $30 billion, it would be difficult to have significant influence in Silverlight City's real estate industry.
But with this $30 billion, Daryl could secure $100 billion in bank loans and do much more—gaining greater influence, for instance.
Nowadays, it's rare to find someone in the real estate industry who doesn't owe money to banks.
Even Cameron had over $10 billion in bank loans. But in a place like Silverlight City, he was just a minor real estate tycoon.
"Mr. Anderson, next I'll be attending the conference with other real estate tycoons and answering some questions from reporters," Daryl said.
"After the Q&A, there's a banquet at the Drunken Immortal Restaurant. We can attend together. At the banquet, I'll discuss the supermarket issue with them. They'll surely agree to such a trivial matter."
Daryl knew that Noah's main purpose for sending him to Silverlight City was the Evergreen Market branch.
"Alright, you go ahead." Noah nodded and found a place to sit, quietly waiting.
Half an hour later, the Q&A session ended, and Daryl was about to go eat with the real estate tycoons.
"Mr. Fields, your entry into our Silverlight City real estate market is like a shot in the arm for us!"
"Yes, with you here, more funds will flow into the real estate market, and we can open more developments and make more money!"
"Let's go have a good meal and celebrate!"
A dozen real estate tycoons from Silverlight City, all dressed impeccably, were chatting and laughing.
They surrounded Daryl, showering him with flattery. Cameron was among them.
"Mr. Fields, your arrival is gonna give Silverlight City's real estate market a huge boost, which is great for us smaller players too!" Cameron said with a smile.
Daryl smiled warmly, engaging in enthusiastic conversation with them.
"Mr. Fields, do you remember me?"
Suddenly, a voice came from the corner, and a man walked over, smiling obsequiously.
"And you are?" Daryl looked the man up and down, feeling he looked familiar, like he'd seen him somewhere before.
"Larry, this isn't the time for flattery!" A man beside Daryl snorted. "Mr. Fields is the top real estate tycoon in Oceanbridge City. You're just a small contractor. You're nothing in front of Mr. Fields. How could he know you?"
"Mr. Fields is on a level you can't even touch. You need to work under me for four or five years before you have the right to speak to Mr. Fields. Understand?"
The man standing in front of Daryl was Larry. The man mocking Larry was Ulysses Jennings, from the Jennings family in Silverlight City, and one of the city's minor real estate tycoons.
Larry was a small contractor Ulysses had taken on recently, bringing $500,000 to him, hoping to get some work.
Ulysses had some previous dealings with Larry and, after some thought, agreed. He had hundreds of small contractors like Larry under him. One more wouldn't make a difference, as long as they made him money.
Ulysses had brought Larry along to the real estate conference. But Larry wasn't qualified to answer reporters' questions and could only wait on the sidelines.
"Mr. Jennings, I'm not trying to flatter. I really have met Mr. Fields!" Larry trembled, smiling bitterly. He had recently taken out a $500,000 loan from the bank to work under Ulysses. Ulysses was his boss, and he didn't want to cause any misunderstandings.
"Mr. Fields, please think again. We really have met!" Larry looked at Daryl. "At Summit Retreat Oasis, at Lisa—my sister-in-law's housewarming party, you gave her a golden bull. Do you remember?"
Daryl stroked his chin and finally remembered. "So it's you. We have met."
He recalled that Noah didn't seem to have a good relationship with Larry. Thinking of this, Daryl's expression turned a bit cold.
"Larry actually knows Mr. Fields!"
"Could there be some connection between them?"
"I heard Larry is from Oceanbridge City, and Mr. Fields is also from Oceanbridge City. This is worth pondering!"
Cameron, Ulysses, and the other real estate tycoons' expressions changed as they looked at Larry. Daryl knew Larry, and he had just arrived in Silverlight City, needing people. Maybe in the future, he would promote Larry. Larry's prospects were limitless!
Hearing this, Larry was ecstatic, trembling with excitement. Daryl remembered him!
"Mr. Fields, could I possibly work under you...?" Larry's eyes sparkled as he gathered his courage to speak. He knew this was an opportunity to attach himself to the top real estate tycoon in Oceanbridge City, Daryl!
Looking at Daryl, Larry's breathing quickened slightly. 'If I can attach myself to Daryl, I'll soar to great heights, and Noah will be crushed under my feet!'
