Chapter 218 Money and Power?
"Causing trouble?" Noah shook his head, "Absolutely not. You guys are being unfair. We paid first, so why are we second in line for the radiation therapy?"
"Dean Brandon, Ms. Smith brought her father for treatment, so I put them second," Zachary explained.
Brandon's eyes lit up as he looked at Mary, a smile spreading across his face. "Since Ms. Smith is here, she should be first in line."
Mary was wealthy, owning several jewelry stores, so naturally, she deserved special treatment.
Then Brandon turned to Noah. "You're second, and that's final. If you don't like it, get a refund and leave. We don't lack patients here!"
Noah frowned, surprised at Brandon's blatant favoritism.
"Boy, that's the benefit of having money," Mary said smugly, looking at Noah. "With money, you can get special treatment everywhere. You poor kid. Why should anyone let you go first?"
"Exactly!" Zachary nodded, sneering at Noah. "You're young and inexperienced. Consider this a lesson. In this world, only money and power can you get special treatment. Learn from this. You can either wait your turn or get a refund and leave. Those are your only options!"
Dean Brandon watched Noah coldly, saying nothing.
"Noah," Grace bit her lip and spoke up, "maybe we should just take the second spot."
Noah rolled his eyes and scoffed, "Money and power? I wanted to reason with you without using money or influence, but you look down on us. Competing with me in money and power? You have no idea who you're dealing with!"
"Do you have some kind of background?" Brandon sneered, "Even if you do, so what? I'm the dean here. My word is final. Not even God can change that!"
"Dean Brandon, Kevin is here!" a voice called from outside.
Upon hearing this, Brandon and Zachary's faces changed.
"Hurry up, bring him in!" Brandon ordered immediately.
Kevin Lewis was from the Benson Family, one of the top families in Oceanbridge City. He managed the family's relationships with suppliers and distributors.
St. Mary's Hospital had acquired a cesium radiation therapy machine due to Kevin's influence. The machine cost ten million dollars, but the hospital got it for thirty percent of that price through Kevin.
The purchase contract had two conditions: first, the Benson Family would take forty percent of the profits from each use of the machine. Second, the Benson Family could reclaim the machine at any time.
So, Kevin had to be treated with utmost respect. If he was displeased and took the machine back, the hospital would suffer greatly.
Footsteps approached, and soon a middle-aged man in a suit, with an arrogant demeanor, walked in.
"Mr. Lewis!" Brandon and Zachary greeted him with exaggerated respect, bowing their heads.
Kevin nodded, maintaining his arrogant expression. He had every reason to be proud. The Benson Family controlled the cesium supply, and hospitals across the eastern region respected him, hoping to get a cesium radiation therapy machine.
Kevin's power had grown significantly, and hospitals courted him daily with gifts and money, hoping to secure a machine.
The Benson Family's influence extended beyond Oceanbridge City, making them a rising power in the state and neighboring states. Many believed they could become a top family within ten years.
"The radiation machine is already sent to your hospital. I'm here to check its effectiveness," Kevin said, not even glancing at the others.
"Mr. Lewis, you're just in time. We're about to start a radiation session," Brandon said obsequiously, "But first, we need to get rid of an eyesore."
He turned to Noah. "You have no choice now. Get out, or I'll call the police!"
"What's going on? Someone causing trouble in the hospital?" Kevin frowned.
Zachary, worried about Kevin's reaction, quickly said, "Not really. Just a petty thing. A poor guy wanted radiation therapy. We told him to wait, but he wouldn't listen. We're just about to kick him out."
Zachary pointed at Noah. "Mr. Lewis, it's this guy."
Kevin followed the direction of the finger, still looking arrogant. But when he saw the young man in front of him, he was stunned, as if struck by lightning. His arrogance vanished, replaced by shock.
"Mr. Anderson!" Kevin blurted out. He couldn't believe he had run into Noah here.
Who was Noah? Kevin knew very well. The Benson Family's rapid rise was due to the cesium Noah had provided.
Noah had a terrifying background and was ruthless. At the Benson Family headquarters, even the family head Kyle and the old master Sea had knelt before him, begging for mercy.
More importantly, Noah was the true power behind the Benson Family, and he was also Kevin's ultimate boss.
And now, St. Mary's Hospital wanted to kick Noah out?
Kevin's eyes turned cold.
"Mr. Lewis, do you know him?" Brandon and Zachary were puzzled by Kevin's reaction.
"Is this the person you said was causing trouble and needed to be kicked out?" Kevin took a deep breath, trying to calm his racing heart.
"Yes, that's him!" Brandon said obsequiously, "Mr. Lewis, just wait a moment. I'll call security! Security! Security!" Brandon shouted loudly.
"Ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous!" Kevin snapped, glaring at Dean Brandon. "From now on, your hospital's cesium radiation machine is being reclaimed by me!"
