Chapter 321 Rouged Lips
"Man, these rich folks drop at least half a million bucks every night at the Intoxicated Red Boat," the young guy said, glancing up at the third floor with a mix of envy and jealousy. "Their starting point in life is where we regular people can only dream of reaching, even after several lifetimes."
Noah also looked up at the third floor, a bit surprised. He hadn't expected to run into members of the three major families from the East Coast on his first day in Silverlight City.
On the third floor of the yacht.
"Liam, you came all the way from Skylake State to Silverlight City, over six hundred miles. Was it just for that internet celebrity, Clementine?" Hawk, dressed in Armani, smiled as he spoke. His handsome face and sharp chin gave him a somewhat delicate appearance when he smiled.
"I had no choice. My family gave me a hundred million dollars to play around with, to invest in something, start a company, and gain some social experience," Liam, wearing a floral shirt, replied with a helpless smile. "But you know me, I'm just a spoiled rich kid. My degrees were bought, so how could I possibly run a company or make investments? This hundred million dollars is likely to be wasted in my hands."
"But a person needs to have some ambition. I don't have many hobbies—just clubbing and chasing women. When I'm home, I play video games, watch live streams, and sleep. So I thought, why not use this money to start a live streaming platform? After all, there are successful examples to follow."
"Successful examples?" Orla, who was sitting nearby, asked calmly. "Are you referring to Facebook Live, which is quite popular in the live streaming world?"
"Orla, you're so smart!" Liam opened his mouth, and a servant beside him peeled a piece of tender Arctic shrimp and placed it in his mouth. "Facebook Live has recently emerged as a strong contender in the live streaming industry. In less than a month, it's already on track to become the third most popular platform. It might even go public on Nasdaq within a year."
"I've heard about that. They say the mysterious owner behind Facebook Live is a very wealthy individual," Hawk nodded.
These true heirs of wealthy families, though some were spoiled, had a keen eye for industry trends and potential.
"That's right. I had someone investigate, and Facebook Live's rapid growth is due to two reasons," Liam explained. "First, they have substantial funding. Second, they poach top streamers from other platforms."
"And I have both of those," Liam continued. "My live streaming platform already has a business license and technical staff. Now, I just need quality streamers. That's why I want to recruit Clementine and see how it goes."
"That's a good decision." Orla nodded, her expression calm and composed. "Clementine may be an internet celebrity known for short videos, but she has five to six million followers. If you can recruit her, it should bring a lot of viewers to your platform and help it grow faster."
"With your endorsement, I'm even more confident, Orla! I've received word that not only is Clementine here today, but her manager is also here. After her performance, I'll talk to them about it," Liam said with a light smile. "I just hope Mr. Harris and you won't compete with me for her."
"Don't worry, I'm not interested," Hawk smiled slightly.
"I'm just here in Silverlight City to soak up the culture. I'm not into this kind of thing either," Orla added.
"Good to know!" Liam nodded. With Hawk and Orla out of the running, he felt confident he could sign Clementine. After all, among the people at the Intoxicated Red Boat, the three of them had the highest status. Liam didn't even consider the people on the other two floors.
At that moment, four graceful women finished their dance on stage and exited.
"Now, please welcome Clementine to the stage," a voice announced from behind the scenes.
"Clementine is here!"
"The internet celebrity Clementine is an amazing dancer, especially in classical dance!"
"Yeah, watching her dance makes me feel like a king from ancient times."
"I spent half a year's salary, twenty thousand dollars, just to see Clementine!"
The crowd's eyes lit up with anticipation.
Soft footsteps echoed as a girl slowly walked onto the stage. She wore a white dress that trailed on the ground. Her delicate face, flawless skin, and pink lips made her look like an angel from a painting.
A beauty mark adorned her forehead, and her large, watery eyes were captivating.
She was breathtakingly beautiful—Clementine!
Seeing Clementine, the audience held their breath, stunned by her beauty, afraid to make a sound and disturb the vision before them.
"She's gorgeous!" Liam was also taken aback, nodding in admiration, a hint of greed in his eyes. "Once I sign her and make her my employee, I have a good chance of getting this beauty to my bed. Just the thought of it is thrilling!"
'She has a nice aura,' Noah observed, stroking his chin. This was his second time encountering Clementine; the first was at that highway service area. 'I wonder how well she dances. If she's good, maybe I can recruit her for Facebook Live.'
At that moment, the yacht's lights dimmed, and a blue spotlight focused on Clementine. She began to dance, performing the classical piece "Rouged Lips." Her graceful movements and flowing dress vividly portrayed the shyness, anticipation, and joy of a girl awaiting marriage.
"Bravo!"
"Beautiful!"
The audience applauded enthusiastically.
'She dances very well,' Noah thought. If Clementine joined Facebook Live, the platform's growth would undoubtedly accelerate.
As "Rouged Lips" ended, a middle-aged woman with glasses and a slightly plump figure walked onto the stage. She was the same woman who had mocked Noah at the highway toll booth—Clementine's manager, Pippa.
"Hello, everyone. I'm Pippa, Clementine's manager and the head of her studio," Pippa said with a smile, her gaze sweeping over the second and third floors. "We came from Imperial City, and we're here not just to perform at the Intoxicated Red Boat, but also because Clementine hopes to pursue a career in acting. We're curious if any heirs in Silverlight City are interested in her."
"Oh my God! Is this a sales pitch?"
"Talking business right after the dance?"
"Clementine is so beautiful. I wonder who will get lucky."
The guests' expressions changed upon hearing this.
On the third floor, Liam smiled. Everything was going according to plan.
"Five million dollars for a two-year contract with Clementine!" Liam stood up and announced loudly.
"Liam is interested in Clementine?"
"He just offered five million dollars!"
