Chapter 333 Not Paying the Bill
Kurt placed the menu in front of Audrey and the other female teachers with a flourish. "Order whatever you want," he said generously, though he felt a pang of regret inside. This meal was likely going to cost him a small fortune.
"But Noah," Kurt turned to him, "you can just get a steak and an orange juice. Together, that's $888. I'm treating, but that's all you're getting. I won't pay for anything more expensive!"
"Mr. Lowe is right, Noah," one of the female teachers chimed in, glancing down at her menu. "You're lucky to even be at the Eyfel Hotel. You don't deserve the expensive dishes."
Noah picked up another menu and said to the waiter, "I'll have the caviar, foie gras, filet mignon, truffles, and a glass of Vannahmen juice."
"Very well, sir," the waiter replied, noting down Noah's order.
Kurt and the others were stunned. "Noah, are you out of your mind? Ordering such expensive dishes!" Kurt's eyes widened. "That'll cost six thousand dollars! Especially that Vannahmen juice—it's the top brand from Valeria, and a glass alone costs over a thousand dollars!"
"And the caviar and truffles—those are luxury items. Can you even afford them?" Audrey frowned. "You should stick to the steak and orange juice Mr. Lowe suggested."
"Yeah, who orders like that? Waiter, cancel everything he just ordered!" the other female teachers grumbled, thinking Noah must be out of his mind. They couldn't believe he had the nerve to order such expensive items when Kurt was paying.
"I want to eat them, is that a problem?" Noah rolled his eyes.
"Want to eat them? Sure, but can you afford it? That meal will cost you a year's salary!" Audrey snapped. "Everyone likes good food, but you're just a nobody from out of town. Can you really pay for it?"
"Noah, are you trying to ruin me?" Kurt's face darkened. "I'm already being generous with the $888 meal. Don't push your luck!"
"Six thousand dollars' worth of food is way out of your league. I'll let you have a $2,000 meal, but that's it. Cancel everything else he ordered," Kurt instructed the waiter.
"Sir," the waiter looked at Noah.
"Don't cancel. I'll pay for it myself," Noah said calmly.
"Very well." The waiter nodded and left.
"Noah, can you really afford this? That's six thousand dollars, not sixty!" Kurt was incredulous.
Audrey added, "Noah, that's your entire year's salary. Is it worth it to spend it all on one meal? You might not even be able to pay your rent after this!"
"He's just trying to show off. We ordered meals totaling eight thousand dollars, and he alone orders six thousand dollars' worth!" the female teachers muttered.
"What I can afford is none of your business. You eat your food, I'll eat mine," Noah said, unfazed. "Besides, I don't have to pay for this meal."
"Don't have to pay?" Kurt and the others were dumbfounded.
"Noah, are you planning to dine and dash? This is six thousand dollars we're talking about!" Kurt warned. "You can still cancel your order with the waiter. If you can't pay, you'll be in big trouble!"
"Yeah, if it were just a few thousand dollars, you might get away with washing dishes. But six thousand? They'll probably make you work here to pay it off!" the female teachers speculated.
Noah ignored their comments. Soon, the dishes were served.
Noah picked up his knife and fork and began to eat.
The female teachers glanced at Noah's luxurious spread and then at their own plates, swallowing hard. Noah had caviar, truffles, and Vannahmen juice—delicacies they had only seen on food shows. Their own meals were just ordinary steaks and juices.
Even Kurt couldn't help but swallow. Noah's food looked and smelled amazing, while theirs seemed bland in comparison.
Moerover, Noah kept marveling at his food as he ate, adding to Kurt and the female teachers' desire, saliva almost flooding out their mouths.
'Enjoy it while you can. You'll regret it when it's time to pay,' Kurt thought bitterly, stabbing a piece of steak. "Let's see how you handle the bill."
The female teachers looked at Noah with cold eyes, as if he were a dead man walking.
After about half an hour, the meal was over.
"Let's go pay," Kurt said, standing up eagerly. He couldn't wait to see Noah get what he deserved.
Audrey and the other female teachers quickly followed, sharing Kurt's anticipation.
"Your total is $74,200," the cashier said to Kurt with a smile.
"I'll only pay for the four of us. He'll pay for his own." Kurt pointed at Noah.
"That will be $12,000 for the four of you," the cashier replied politely.
"Alright," Kurt said, swiping his card.
Noah approached the counter.
"Sir, your total is $62,200," the cashier said to Noah with the same smile.
"Noah, are you going to skip out on the bill? Now's the time to regret it!" Kurt said smugly.
The female teachers looked at Noah with mocking eyes.
"Call your boss," Noah said calmly.
