Chapter 10 Portraits
Bella glanced at her phone and rolled her eyes. 'That jerk Sterling snuggled up with me all night and now he's whining about it.'
"What's up, Bella? You look pissed," Anna said, trying to peek at Bella's phone.
Bella quickly shoved her phone away and shook her head. "Nah, just some spam. Anyway, our first class is art, right?"
Anna, easily distracted, nodded. "Yeah, art class first. I think we're supposed to draw a portrait today."
They strolled into the art room, where everyone was already waiting for Ms. Thalia Murphy to drop the assignment.
Bella got her drawing stuff ready as Thalia walked in.
"Alright, class, today we're drawing the person who’s left the biggest impression on you," Thalia announced, and everyone started sketching.
Bella knew exactly who she wanted to draw—Zoey, who was the nicest person in the whole family.
But as soon as Bella's pencil hit the paper, Zoey's face blurred, and Sterling's face popped up instead.
'Why Sterling? I don't wanna draw him. I'd rather draw Owen,' Bella thought, but her hand had a mind of its own, sketching away.
Over an hour later, Bella was done.
Her drawing showed Sterling sitting at a desk, looking over some papers.
Sterling's handsome face, perfect posture, those cold eyes, and slightly furrowed brows made the drawing look almost like a photo.
Bella stared at her work and thought, 'How did I end up drawing this? Sterling must've really gotten into my head. No way, I still have time to erase his head and put Owen or Ryan there.'
Just as she grabbed the eraser, Thalia's voice came from behind her.
"Is this Sterling Windsor? This is really well done, way more lifelike than the others," Thalia said, snatching Bella's paper.
Bella frowned. Thalia was complimenting her, but there was a hint of sarcasm.
"You girls, always dreaming of rich and powerful boyfriends instead of focusing on your studies. At least ten of you drew Sterling. I know you all like him, but don't you have anyone else important in your lives?" Thalia scanned the room, making all the girls look down in embarrassment.
Finally, Thalia's eyes landed on Bella. She held up Bella's drawing and said mockingly, "Compared to the others, this one is really good. You even nailed the surroundings and expressions, like you saw it with your own eyes. Your imagination is something else."
