Chapter 65 Really Pregnant

Ryan was floored when he found out Bella had picked up a pregnancy test. Once he got over the shock, he couldn't wait to share the news with Sterling.

'That's awesome! Maybe having a kid will thaw things out between them,' Ryan thought, grinning as he sat in the car. A baby could really warm up the place.

Sterling, who was on the phone, started shaking when he heard about the pregnancy test.

He shot up from his chair, ready to bolt, just as Debra walked out of the bathroom, fresh from her shower.

"Sterling, where are you going? I just got out of the shower. Can't you stay a bit longer?" Debra purred, wrapping herself around him and pressing her chest against his arm.

Sterling's eyes flashed with disgust.

"I've got urgent stuff to handle at home. You stay here," he said, pushing her away and heading for the door.

Debra stood there, stunned, watching him leave. She stomped her foot in frustration, making her chest bounce.

"He must be going to see that witch Bella again. Damn it, what does she have that I don't? My chest is bigger, my butt is perkier, and I'm way sweeter. Why? Why do you like Bella?" Debra fumed, smashing things around the room. But no matter what she did, she couldn't win Sterling's heart.

Sterling left the hotel and sped home.

Bella used the pregnancy test as soon as she got it. When she saw the positive result, she was in shock.

"I'm really pregnant? How is that possible? We only did it once," Bella muttered, her hands shaking as she held the test.

She instinctively touched her belly, feeling like she could sense the new life inside her.

Bella remembered what Sterling had once told her: if she had a kid, he'd let her go.

She craved freedom, but she didn't want to end up like her mom, Mira.

"My kid can't grow up without a mom. I have to keep this a secret." Bella decided. She couldn't let Sterling know about the pregnancy.

Bella had a plan. She figured Ryan might spill the beans to Sterling, so she bought two tests.

She hid the used one and took out a new one, dropping a few water droplets on it.

After that, she felt a bit of relief.

'I need to find a job now. I might have to leave here with my kid,' Bella thought, starting to send out resumes online.

Just as she sent out her last resume, she heard a car horn outside. A car sped into the driveway.

Sterling jumped out and rushed into the villa.

Bella heard footsteps pounding up the stairs, and before she knew it, the bedroom door flew open.

Sterling, out of breath, demanded, "Why did you buy a pregnancy test? Are you pregnant?"

"No, I'm not," Bella said, trembling and instinctively hiding the test behind her back.

Sterling grabbed her and snatched the test from her hand.

When he saw the negative result, he was taken aback.

"I told you, I'm not pregnant," Bella said, biting her lip in frustration.

Sterling put the test down, looking at her with a mix of emotions.

Bella felt a wave of guilt, like she'd done something wrong.

'Do I regret it? No, it's not that. I don't love Sterling, and he doesn't love me. Having this kid would be a nightmare. I have to get out of here with my baby,' Bella reaffirmed her decision.

Sterling didn't say another word and left the villa. He'd spend another night away.

Bella didn't feel guilty about what she'd done. She believed she was right.

The next morning, Bella anxiously waited for responses from the companies she had applied to.

One company replied: [Thank you, Ms. Grey, for your interest in our company. However, after careful consideration, we regret to inform you that you are not suitable for this position.]

Bella closed her laptop in disappointment. This was the tenth design company to reject her application.

She walked downstairs, feeling defeated, where Zoey had already prepared lunch for her.

"Zoey, why can't I find a job?" Bella asked, staring at the food with no appetite.

Zoey sighed and shook her head. "Mrs. Windsor, everyone knows you're Sterling's wife. Sterling's wife doesn't need to work for someone else. By sending out resumes, you're basically telling people that your marriage with Mr. Windsor is in trouble, and those companies don't want to offend him. Maybe you should try asking Micah."

Bella shook her head, rejecting Zoey's suggestion. She had already quit Micah's company and couldn't bring herself to go back.

"Or maybe try Colin? Never mind, he probably doesn't have a suitable job for you either," Zoey said, shaking her head.

"Do I really have to depend on Sterling to survive?" Bella asked, still unwilling to accept it.

Zoey rolled her eyes. "I don't get it. If I were you, I'd be thrilled to have a guy willing to spend money on me. I wouldn't leave until I spent all his money. If you think Mr. Windsor is keeping you around to torment you, why not spend his money to torment him?"

Bella shook her head with a bitter smile. No one could understand her feelings.

Zoey shook her head and walked away, thinking that Bella was living too miserably. Talking to her always felt suffocating.
