Chapter 112 Blind Date

Bella sneered, "You take care of him? Are you his wife, or am I?"

Nia's face twisted at Bella's words, but she grudgingly handed Sterling over.

As Bella helped Sterling upstairs, he realized it was her, not Nia, supporting him.

The moment they got into the room, Sterling suddenly pinned Bella against the door, his hot breath on her neck.

Bella's heart raced. "Sterling, what are you doing?"

"I want you," he replied.

Bella's face turned crimson. Just as she was about to respond, Sterling let her go and headed to the bathroom, remembering what the doctor had told him a month ago.

Bella watched him go, trying to calm her swirling emotions. She slipped under the covers, knowing Sterling had probably had too much to drink. But she also knew he wouldn't force her if she wasn't willing.

With that thought, Bella relaxed and drifted off to sleep.

When Sterling came out, he saw Bella was already asleep. He shook his head helplessly, knowing now wasn't the right time. There was still a wall between them.

He climbed into bed and wrapped his arms around her, falling into a deep sleep.

The next morning, Bella woke to find Sterling gone. But then Nia barged into her room.

Bella was annoyed, thinking Nia had no sense of personal space or respect.

Seeing Nia first thing in the morning soured Bella's mood. "What are you doing here?" she snapped.

Nia flopped onto Bella's bed with a grin. "Just wanted to chat. Can't I do that?"

Bella, however, had no interest in chatting with her.

Seeing Nia lounging on her bed, Bella said, "What is there for us to talk about? Go find Sterling if you want to chat."

Nia seemed a bit deflated by Bella's harsh tone. "Why so harsh? What did you mean by what you said to me yesterday? You think you're the lady of the house and you can kick me out whenever you want? I'm a guest here invited by Sterling, so you can't kick me out."

Bella didn't want to argue. "Nia, stay if you want, but stop causing trouble."

Nia got upset. "Bella, is this how you treat guests? I'm just trying to chat, and you're always so cold and sarcastic."

Bella didn't want to expose Nia's true intentions. Nia was eyeing her husband and yet had the nerve to say such things. She took a deep breath and said calmly, "Fine, what do you want to talk about?"

Nia immediately said, "I want to talk about you and Sterling..."

Before she could finish, Bella cut her off. "Enough. I don't want to start my day talking about Sterling with you," she said, frowning as she got out of bed.

Bella threw off the covers, washed up, and headed downstairs, completely ignoring Nia who was trailing behind her, yammering away.

Just then, Bella's phone rang. It was Anna, asking her to tag along on a blind date.

Bella thought she misheard. "A blind date? You?"

Anna sighed on the other end. "Yeah, can you believe it? My mom's still trying to set me up with someone."

Anna continued, "I get it, though. Our family's hit a rough patch. My mom's no longer living the high life, and I'm not the rich girl I used to be. She's probably hoping to marry me off to some wealthy guy so she can keep living comfortably."

Bella was speechless. She couldn't believe Qiana was still dreaming big.

Not wanting to stick around and deal with Nia, Bella decided to join Anna. She had the driver take her to the coffee shop where the blind date was set.

When Bella arrived, Anna wasn't there yet. She ordered two coffees, and just as she finished, Anna rushed in, still in her work clothes, probably straight from the office.

Anna plopped down, looking frazzled. "My mom is driving me nuts."

Bella slid the coffee over with a smile. "So why'd you agree? You usually don't go along with her schemes. What's different this time?"

Anna groaned. "Bella, I didn't want to. But my mom withheld my salary and threatened to keep my bank card if I didn't go."

Bella shook her head. "I can't believe she's still at it. That's really over the top."

Anna took a sip of her coffee, looking defeated. "She's always been like this. She used to set me up on blind dates, and I never went. Now I have no choice."

They both sighed and waited. After a while, Bella asked, "So, who's this guy? It's been an hour, and he still hasn't shown up."

Anna shrugged. "Mom said he's some CEO of a listed company, worth billions, too busy to get married. I don't even know where she found him."

Bella frowned. "Worth billions and still needs a blind date? Wouldn't he just have to snap his fingers and countless girls would throw themselves at him?"

Just as Bella was about to voice her doubts, the coffee shop door swung open.

A man with a briefcase under his arm walked in. He looked about 50, with a face full of fat, sparse hair, and a big belly. And he walked with a limp.

Anna and Bella exchanged a look, both thinking the same thing: Could it be him?

Sure enough, the man waddled over to them and flashed a yellow-toothed grin at Bella, looking sleazy.
