Chapter 160 Mr. Windsor's Explanation
Bella turned around and spotted that tall, handsome figure—it was Sterling. He found her so fast.
She quickly looked down, pretending she hadn't seen him.
Anna rolled her eyes. In such a tiny place, it was painfully obvious Bella was pretending not to notice him.
Sterling walked up to them, and they both acted like he wasn't even there, one was looking down while the other was looking around.
He glanced at the table full of food they had ordered, clearly enjoying themselves.
Sterling snorted and sat down. "You two sure know how to have a good time, spending my money and then calling me a jerk. How does it feel to spend my money guilt-free?"
Bella and Anna's faces flushed. Seeing Bella shrink back, Anna cursed inwardly, 'Useless,' and decided to take charge.
"I knew it. Your photos with Debra are everywhere. The paparazzi are probably camped outside your place."
Worried Anna might lose her cool and confront Sterling, Bella gently tugged on Anna's sleeve, signaling her to chill.
But Anna ignored her and even pulled out her phone, showing it to Sterling. "Look for yourself. Bella's already seen the photo of you and Debra. You should explain to her first."
Bella frantically tugged at Anna's sleeve, trying to stop her. If Sterling got mad, she wouldn't be able to calm him down.
But he suddenly said, "I don't know about the photo. I just ran into Debra by chance. She posted it without my knowledge, and I didn't dine with her. That's my explanation. As for having a sexual relationship, how do you know? Did you see it? Do you have any evidence?"
Sterling glanced at Anna after speaking.
Bella was shocked that Sterling explained without getting mad at Anna. That was so unlike him.
But Anna pressed on, "Do you dare to call Debra and confront her?"
Worried, Bella thought, 'Why doesn't Anna ever feel afraid?' She looked at Anna expressionlessly, thinking, 'Forget it.'
But to her surprise, Sterling actually took out his phone and dialed Debra's number.
Anna immediately said, "Look, you even kept her number. What are you explaining? Hypocrite."
Sterling fell into Anna's trap without realizing it. He never expected that someone with his experience in the business world could be tricked by a young girl like her.
He threw his phone on the table and said, "Anna, do you know what happened to the last person who pissed me off?"
Anna snorted, "None of my business. It's clearly you and Debra causing trouble, and Debra is deliberately showing off in front of Bella. I won't get involved in your affairs. You made Bella suffer, so I can't just let that slide."
Bella saw Sterling rendered speechless by Anna. Though she wanted to laugh, she held back and simply said, "Forget it. Sterling, you haven't had a meal yet, right? Join us. After all, it's your money paying for it."
Sterling was so mad he felt like his insides were on fire. "I'm not hungry. Got stuff to do. We'll settle this tonight," he snapped.
He stood up and stormed off to the manager's office upstairs in White Bay Restaurant.
Bella shot Anna a look full of blame. Anna just shrugged. "Bella, what's with you being so obedient? When you went to Foster Villa to confront Debra for me, you were fearless. I heard you even brought a stick and bodyguards and really roughed her up. With your skills, why are you scared of Sterling?"
Bella panicked. "Don't spread rumors. I didn't hit her."
Anna shook her head. "Whatever. But if Sterling came here to find you, why did he leave?"
Bella sighed. "I think he's here to find Colin, not me."
Anna suddenly looked worried. "Colin is here?"
She glanced around but didn't see him.
Bella added, "This restaurant is actually owned by Colin."
Anna felt even more confused. She took another bite of food and said, "I knew the taste was familiar. So it's him. Is he crazy? His company keeps him busy enough, and he still managed to open a restaurant."
Anna and Bella exchanged speechless looks. Not long after, they saw Sterling and Colin coming out together, heading their way.
Anna felt guilty as soon as she saw Colin, like a mouse spotting a cat. She was profoundly uneasy.
They pushed their food around on their plates, not really eating. Colin naturally saw Anna and walked over with Sterling.
Sterling said, "Enjoy your meal. We'll talk tonight."
Colin looked at Anna with a smirk, saying nothing, but his attitude made her even more nervous, though she didn't know why.
Sterling and Colin went to the front desk, probably to pay the bill for them, and then left the restaurant.
Back at the villa in Whitewater Bay, Sterling was irritably chain-smoking, his expression dark. Colin had to turn on the air purifier. "If you keep smoking like this, you'll set my house on fire."
Sterling, looking grim, pulled a stack of documents from his briefcase. "Take a look. Someone's messing with me."
Colin lit a cigarette, took the documents, and the more he read, the deeper his frown became. "Fuck, who is this? How dare they come at you? Who did you piss off this time? With your power, who would dare to mess with you?"
Sterling shook his head. "I investigated the other company. It's a shell company abroad, and the person behind it is well-hidden. Over the years, many have tried to bring me down, but only this one has caused me a real loss. I'm having someone look into it, and I'll go abroad when I have time. The loss at the overseas branch is a heavy blow."
