Chapter 307 Delicious Food

Colin didn't wait for Anna to finish speaking before he grabbed her wrist, anxiously circling her and scanning her from head to toe, as if to ensure she was unharmed.

Once he confirmed she was safe, he let out a long sigh of relief, his tense body finally relaxing.

Only Colin knew the indescribable anxiety and fear he felt when he learned she was on Caleb's turf.

At that moment, he was busy in the kitchen preparing dinner. He dropped the spatula abruptly and rushed out of the house without hesitation, driving over as if the traffic lights were mere decorations.

His only thought was to see her as soon as possible and ensure her safety.

"Caleb has something on you, doesn't he?" His voice was low and firm, his eyes revealing an unwavering determination.

"If he bothers you again, you must tell me immediately. I won't allow anyone to threaten or harm you anymore. Did he do anything to you just now?"

Anna shook her head gently, her eyes glistening with tears, but this time, they were tears of relief and liberation.

"It's okay, Colin. He let me go, and I no longer have anything he can use against me. From now on, I can truly start over, free from his shadow, and live the life I want."

Hearing this, a surge of uncontrollable emotion welled up in Colin's heart. He couldn't hold back any longer and pulled her into a tight embrace.

Anna's eyes widened in surprise, a mix of shock and shyness on her face. "What are you doing? Did you rush over here just for this?"

Colin's embrace was warm and strong, dispelling all her fears and anxieties.

He didn't answer, just held her tighter, showing her through his actions that no matter what the future held, he would always be her strongest support.

He slowly released her, then gently guided her into the car before getting into the driver's seat himself, a playful smile tugging at his lips. "No, I just happened to be passing by."

In the past, Anna's carefree nature might have made her believe his words without hesitation.

But after everything she'd been through, she was no longer the naive girl she once was. His lie no longer held any power over her.

Who would just happen to pass by here at this hour? And Whitewater Bay and the Powell Mansion were in completely different directions.

But Anna didn't expose Colin's lie. She quietly took the passenger seat and, with an unusually mature and steady tone, said, "You know, you're a good guy. You're handsome and wealthy. Your mom really wants you to get married soon so she can have grandkids. You shouldn't insist on being a bachelor forever. If you meet the right girl, marry her and settle down. Stop playing around."

Colin glanced at Anna, his tone slightly teasing. "You sound older than me. Are you turning me down? Besides cooking and being handsome, I'm pretty useless. Don't give me too much credit. The family business? That's all my parents' doing, not mine."

It was the first time Anna had heard someone "tease" themselves like that, but she could sense a unique compliment hidden in his words.

She smiled softly, a gentle and reserved smile that seemed to acknowledge the sincerity behind his playful remarks.

Colin looked at her, his thoughts a mystery. Knowing she would soon leave, he hid his disappointment and said lightly, "Am I seeing things? Why are you smiling so gently? You used to laugh so boldly and freely. But this is nice too, more feminine. Come on, let's go to my place for dinner. It feels weird having dinner alone with Bella."

Anna hadn't eaten much for dinner and had been craving Colin's cooking, so she readily agreed. After all, Colin's culinary skills had always tempted her.

When they arrived at the Whitewater Bay villa, Colin was surprised to hear noises coming from the kitchen. He rushed in to find Bella still cooking.

Hearing them come in, Bella, holding a spatula, greeted them with a smile. "You're back? Anna, you're here too. I was just trying to cook."

Colin quickly took the spatula from her, looking exasperated. "You two go to the living room. I'll handle the rest."

Anna chuckled and teased Bella, "Bella, can you even cook? Look at his face; he's probably heartbroken over the wasted ingredients."

Bella laughed too, knowing her cooking skills were limited. She explained, "He was cooking and suddenly ran out without saying where he was going or when he'd be back. I was starving, so I had to fend for myself. But don't worry, I didn't manage to finish any dish."

Ordinary people couldn't compare to Colin's kitchen skills. Soon, he served several delicious dishes that filled the room with mouth-watering aromas. Bella and Anna eagerly dug in without any hesitation.

Anna, always one to appreciate good food, knew the key to freeloading was to be complimentary.

As she savored Colin's cooking, she praised him generously. "Colin, your food is amazing! Every bite is pure happiness. Whoever marries you will be so lucky. Especially this beef, it's incredibly tender and delicious!"

Colin's face lit up with a proud smile. He knew he was a good cook, but such high praise still surprised and delighted him.

With a playful smile, Colin rested his chin on his hands, watching Bella and Anna. He wasn't sure if he felt more proud or helpless.

Half-jokingly, he said, "Since you both love my cooking so much, why not one of you move in with me? That way, you can enjoy my food every day. But Bella is my buddy's girl, so that's out. Anna, looks like you're the only candidate."
