Chapter 33 An Unexpected Encounter

Bella never thought Anna would drop such a bombshell question. And to make it worse, she got a mental snapshot of Sterling in the buff.

"Why the hell are you asking this? No way I'm answering." Bella shook her head like crazy, her face turning red. She ducked her head and took a sip of her coffee to hide her embarrassment.

Anna's grin was pure mischief. "Looks like your married life's pretty spicy. So, what's your favorite position?"

"Can we not? Why are you even asking this? Would you spill the beans about you and your boyfriend's moves?" Bella shot Anna a glare, feeling both mortified and ticked off.

Anna just shrugged. "If you wanna know, I can totally tell you."

Bella was about to snap back when she spotted two people walking into the restaurant.

It was a guy and a girl, with the girl hanging onto the guy's arm like he was her lifeline.

'Sterling and Debra, seriously? What are they doing here?' Bella felt a wave of panic; she really didn't want to deal with them right now.

Since Bella was facing the entrance, she quickly ducked her head and used her hand to shield her face, pretending to mess with her phone.

Sterling and Debra walked right past Bella without a clue she was there.

Just as Bella let out a breath of relief, Anna blurted out in surprise.

"Isn't that your husband?" Bella kicked her under the table the second she spoke.

"Shut up, don't say a word. I don't want them to see us," Bella hissed at Anna.

Anna seemed to get it and also ducked her head, using the menu to hide her face. Her eyes sparkled with excitement and curiosity as she whispered, "So, are we busting them for cheating today?"

Bella rolled her eyes and shook her head. "We need to get out of here and act like we were never here."

Anna looked at Bella, shocked. "Really? You're just gonna let this slide? Your husband's clearly cheating. That chick's all over him. Just snap a pic, and you can get half his stuff in a divorce."

Bella felt like Anna was getting more and more out of touch with reality.

"Did you forget it was his order that sent you abroad?" Bella reminded the overly excited Anna, not to forget how scary Sterling could be.

Anna shivered, suddenly remembering those three years she spent abroad because of Sterling.

"What the heck is going on? How long has this been a thing?" Anna looked at Bella, totally confused.

Bella didn't want to hash out her private drama with Sterling in the restaurant, nor did she want to tell Anna that Debra, who was all over Sterling, was her half-sister.

"Anyway, we need to bounce. It'd be way too awkward if they saw us." Bella urged Anna to leave.

Anna reluctantly got up from her seat. "Fine, let's hit up another spot. Seriously, I didn't even get to order."

As Anna and Bella left the restaurant, they unexpectedly ran into Micah just outside the door.

"Bella? You eating here too?" Micah greeted them.

Bella shook her head. "Place is packed, and the service sucks. We're heading somewhere else. Catch you later."

Bella and Anna made a quick exit, leaving a confused Micah behind.

"I come here all the time, and the service is usually pretty good," Micah muttered, scratching his head as he walked into the restaurant.

As Micah was about to order, he spotted Sterling and Debra. Suddenly, it all clicked why Bella had bailed so fast.

'A wife catching her hubby with his side chick. That's a whole mess,' Micah thought to himself, then went over to say hi to Sterling.

During their chat, Micah casually mentioned seeing Bella at the entrance.

Sterling's brow furrowed a bit, while Debra's face turned sour.

'Damn it, Micah, why bring up Bella now?' Debra wished she could zap Micah out of existence.

Micah, totally missing Debra's death glare, shared his theory with Sterling.

"She probably saw you two and felt awkward, so she bounced. A husband on a date with his side piece, caught by the wife," Micah teased.

Sterling ignored Micah and scanned the restaurant. He noticed a table with an empty coffee cup and remembered seeing two girls there earlier, one of which did seem kinda familiar.

Debra, seeing Sterling's silence, freaked out that he might go after Bella. She quickly grabbed his hand and said sweetly, "Sterling, our food's almost here. Let's eat first; I'm starving."

Sterling smiled, patted Debra's hand, and then gently removed it from his arm. "You go ahead and eat. I just remembered something I need to handle at the office."

Debra's face fell. She knew that was Sterling's go-to excuse; he was probably going to find Bella.

"Alright then, you go ahead." Debra let go of Sterling's hand, knowing it was best to play it cool and not piss him off.

Sterling quickly left the restaurant, shaking off Debra.

Micah also got ready to leave; he couldn't stand Debra, finding her too annoyed.

"Micah, you didn't tell Sterling about me confronting Bella last time, did you?" Debra suddenly grabbed Micah's hand and asked softly.

"Of course not. I don't like getting involved in your drama." Micah smiled.

'Actually, I lied. I already told Sterling about it,' Micah thought coldly to himself.

Looking at Debra, who kinda looked like Bella, Micah got why Sterling was into her.

'Poor Debra, you'll never know that Sterling's affection for you is all an act. You're just a stand-in for Bella.' Micah felt a bit sorry for the clueless Debra.

Meanwhile, after leaving the restaurant, Sterling pulled out his phone and called Bella.

Bella was chatting with Anna about where to eat next when her phone rang.

Seeing Sterling's number on the screen, Bella didn't want to answer but eventually picked up the call.
