Chapter 348 Reporting to the Police
Anna felt a pang of distress upon hearing the news. "That door must've cost a fortune!"
Her voice carried a mix of frustration and determination. "I swear, I'm gonna catch that jerk and teach 'em a lesson!"
Bella gently patted Anna's shoulder and spoke softly, "Don't worry, we'll find 'em. But right now, the most important thing is to get the shop back to normal. We can't let this mess up our business."
After discussing their options, they decided to contact someone to replace the door immediately and report the incident to the police, hoping the authorities could help them find the culprit and bring them to justice.
The police and the door replacement team arrived almost simultaneously. The officers first examined the damaged glass door, noting the splattered paint and the malicious intent behind it.
One officer took out a camera and meticulously photographed the door from every angle, ensuring all details were documented.
After securing the evidence, the police began reviewing the nearby surveillance cameras. The area was well-covered, with cameras positioned from the shop's entrance to various street corners, leaving almost no blind spots.
"This place has excellent surveillance. It shouldn't be too hard to track down the perp," one officer said confidently.
"Thanks, we really appreciate it," Bella replied gratefully.
Meanwhile, the door replacement team got to work, efficiently removing the damaged door.
As other employees arrived at the shop and saw the team installing a new door, they couldn't help but look puzzled.
"What's going on? Why are we getting a new door?" one employee asked curiously.
Anna's face darkened, her anger reignited. "Some jerk spray-painted insults all over our door! It's not just the nasty words; now we have to replace the door! We've already called the cops, and I can't wait to find out who did this!"
"This is outrageous! How could someone do that?" Serafina exclaimed, looking at the damaged door with its red paint still visible. She felt a twinge of sympathy. "Couldn't we just clean off the paint and keep using it?"
Bella shook her head gently. "It's not worth it. Cleaning it would be a hassle, and it would still leave marks. Unless we hire a professional cleaner, which would draw even more attention and hurt our business. It's better to replace it and seek compensation from the culprit."
Serafina nodded in agreement. The shop's image was crucial, and any negative impression could be costly.
By the afternoon, sunlight glinted off the new glass door. Just then, Bella received a call from the police station informing her that they had identified the person responsible for the vandalism and asked her to come in to assist with the investigation.
Anna jumped up immediately, her anger flaring once more. She had been eager to see who had the audacity to attack their shop. Without hesitation, she decided to accompany Bella to the police station.
"We're going now. I need to see who did this!" Anna said, slamming her fist on the table.
Bella nodded, knowing they needed to resolve this quickly to avoid further disruption to their business. She quickly arranged for the other employees to manage the shop in their absence.
The two of them hurriedly gathered their things and headed to the police station.
On the way, Anna couldn't stop cursing the vandal, while Bella remained relatively calm.
When they arrived at the station and saw the person the police had apprehended, Anna couldn't believe her eyes. It was Charlotte.
"Charlotte! You've really outdone yourself this time!" Anna said, her anger turning into a bitter laugh. She hadn't expected the vandal to be Charlotte, acting out of spite.
Charlotte panicked upon seeing Anna and Bella. She had thought her little scheme would go unnoticed, but now she was caught.
Fearing jail time and the ruin of her reputation, she began to fabricate a story. "Officer, I had a reason. Their desserts are unsafe! I tried to get justice but failed, so I had no choice. You should shut down their shop for a thorough inspection! What if someone gets sick?"
Her words carried a hint of cunning and provocation, as if she genuinely cared about public safety. But Anna and Bella knew it was nonsense. Their desserts had always been highly praised, with no quality issues.
"You're lying!" Anna shouted. "Our desserts are made with care. There's no way they're unsafe. You're just trying to smear us!"
Bella calmly countered, "Officer, our shop strictly follows food safety regulations, and our desserts are rigorously checked. Charlotte's claims are purely out of spite. She has a personal grudge against us."
The officer banged the table, his voice authoritative. "Enough! One at a time. We're here to resolve this, not to argue. Everyone, calm down and listen."
He scanned the room, his gaze sharp and composed. Then he continued, "Based on the surveillance footage, it's confirmed that Charlotte spray-painted the door. The incident occurred around 1 AM, and she was seen loitering suspiciously near your shop. Regardless of her reasons, this behavior is unacceptable and illegal."
Turning to Charlotte, the officer's tone grew stern. "Charlotte, explain yourself. Why resort to such extreme measures? And what about your claims regarding the desserts? Everyone will have their turn to speak, and you must answer truthfully."
Charlotte, now filled with regret, hadn't anticipated her actions being uncovered so quickly or facing police interrogation. She lowered her head, her voice trembling.
