Chapter 220 The Baffling Part-Time Job

Anna stared at Colin for a long time. "Are you really that kind-hearted?"

Colin raised an eyebrow. "I'm just worried about you coming to work right after being discharged. I don't want you to get hurt again. Go on, isn't it more comfortable to sleep on the bed inside than to nap on the desk?"

Colin spoke naturally, but Anna felt a bit awkward. "But what about you? And this is your office. It's not right for me to sleep here. What would it look like?"

Colin snorted. "Do you think I'm letting you use it for free? Once you're well-rested, I have a task for you this afternoon."

Anna looked at Colin, feeling he had ulterior motives. Colin saw her expression and knew what she was thinking.

Colin saw her expression and knew what she was thinking. He tapped her forehead. "Stop guessing. It's a part-time job. Want to consider it?"

Anna said, "Then tell me first, what kind of part-time job?"

Colin glanced at his watch. "You have less than an hour to rest. If you don't go rest now, you can go back to work immediately."

Hearing this, Anna ran into the lounge without hesitation, then turned back and said, "Don't try to trick me."

Colin snorted and ignored her. He didn't have time to rest at noon. He had to handle the follow-up work quickly as he was heading to Oakridge soon.

The humidifier in the room had lavender essential oil to help with sleep. Anna didn't expect to sleep until 2 PM.

She didn't know if it was Colin's bed being too comfortable or the reassuring scent on his blanket that made her not want to wake up.

Anna picked up her phone, turned over, and sat up, muttering, "Oh no, oh no, oh no."

Anna could already imagine getting scolded by her supervisor. She was about to open the door when she heard voices outside.

Anna quietly opened the door a crack and held her breath. She saw her supervisor standing in Colin's office, and she broke out in a cold sweat.

Then she heard her supervisor complaining, "Mr. Rivera, you have to do something about Anna. I can't manage her anymore. It's this late, and she hasn't shown up for work. She didn't even call, and she doesn't answer her phone. She's so undisciplined, always slacking off at work."

Anna's mouth twitched. When had she ever slacked off? She worked so hard every day, and Calla Cooper dared to complain about her?

Anna was about to go out and argue with Calla when she heard Colin say, "Really? You can't manage her? Have you ever thought it might be your own problem?"

Anna saw Calla's face turn sour at Colin's words, and she couldn't help but feel pleased.

Calla always bullied her and made trouble for her at work. She hadn't even complained yet, and Calla was already tattling on her.

Calla held back and said, "Mr. Rivera, you said to report Anna's issues directly to you. But this is too much. She can't be found during work hours and leaves early."

Colin impatiently raised his hand to interrupt Calla. "I know. You can go now."

As soon as Calla left, Anna was thinking about how to argue her case when she heard Colin raise his voice. "You've been eavesdropping for a while. Aren't you coming out?"

Hearing Colin's voice, Anna had no choice but to come out.

Before Colin could speak, Anna immediately raised her hand. "I'm sorry. I forgot to set an alarm. I won't do it again."

Colin nodded seriously. "What else did you do wrong?"

Anna tilted her head in confusion. "What else did I do wrong? Oh, and don't believe what Calla said. She accused me of slacking off? I work so hard every day. Do you know how busy an assistant's job is? Even though I'm a design assistant, I handle all the materials by myself. How dare she say I slack off?"

Colin found her angry face somewhat cute. He said, "If you think Calla is wronging you, why don't you switch roles with her and become the supervisor?"

Anna got nervous and quickly said, "No, don't take it seriously. Calla just has a sharp tongue. If she knew about our relationship, she wouldn't dare to complain."

Colin looked at her meaningfully. "What relationship do we have?"

Anna replied irritably, "We have no relationship, okay? Let her complain if she wants. You can punish me as you see fit."

Colin chuckled. "Alright, if you're working under Calla, let her handle the punishment. But I've already asked HR for half a day off for you. Rest well, and I'll introduce you to a part-time job tonight."

Anna got excited about the part-time job. "What kind of part-time job? Why does it have to be at night? You're not introducing me to something shady, are you? I'm telling you, I won't do any lowly jobs, and I don't have the skills for them."

Colin laughed. "What are you thinking? This part-time job pays well, requires little work, and comes with free vacations and gourmet meals. How about it?"

Anna, still groggy from sleep, said, "Such a good deal? How much does it pay?"

Colin thought for a moment. "If it's a one-time thing, it's ten thousand dollars. If it's long-term, we can negotiate the price."

Anna was tempted by the price. "What kind of part-time job is it?" She was still wary of Colin, remembering how he had tricked her into sleeping with him before.

Seeing that Anna wasn't easily fooled, Colin said, "It's simple. Just accompany me to meet someone."

"Who?" Anna didn't believe it could be that easy.

Colin sighed. "An elder. What? Are you afraid I'll sell you?"

Anna pouted, thinking it was possible.

Colin tapped her forehead. "Don't worry, I won't harm you. Remember, I said you're very useful. As an employee, you should help your boss overcome difficulties. Otherwise, why would I pay you?"

Anna thought it made sense. She also remembered that when she was in the hospital, Colin had helped her by telling Qiana she was on a business trip to avoid worrying her.

"Okay." Anna decided that as long as it wasn't something illegal or immoral, she could help him.

And even if she didn't want to do it later, Colin probably wouldn't force her. As long as it wasn't too outrageous, she could handle it.
