Chapter 296 Leaving
In the Whitewater Bay neighborhood, Colin and Bella sat on the plush sofa, their eyes fixed on the phone lying silently on the coffee table.
They were anxiously waiting for a call, hoping for news about Anna. The past two days had given them some clues, but still no concrete information.
Colin glanced at his watch; it was getting late. He turned to Bella and said, "It's late, and you're exhausted. Get some rest. Don't worry, I'll keep an eye on things. As soon as we find out where Anna is, I'll go get her."
Bella shook her head, unable to sleep. Her eyes were filled with anxiety and worry. "I can't sleep knowing Anna hasn't come back. Her mom might not be reliable and doesn't usually care much about her, but if she's gone too long, it won't stay hidden. I'm really worried something's happened to her. I just hope Caleb doesn't do anything crazy."
Bella's voice trembled, as if she had more to say but held back.
Colin had his doubts. How could Anna suddenly be taken?
Caleb had already sent the letter to Bella, knowing she would leave the Windsor Villa. Why not take Bella to get back at Sterling instead of Anna? It didn't make sense, leaving Colin uneasy and full of questions.
Sterling had not only arranged for security to protect Bella, but he had also personally questioned the bodyguards stationed nearby. They all reported no suspicious activity.
This meant that after Anna's disappearance, Caleb hadn't tried to attack Bella again.
Regardless, Caleb's revenge on Sterling was far from over. Caleb's ability to evade capture showed his power, which they had underestimated.
As Colin's mind raced, the phone on the coffee table suddenly lit up with a loud ring. He quickly grabbed it and answered, "What's the situation now?"
The person on the other end urgently reported, "We've found her. She's being held in a secluded villa on Maple Street. The area is sparsely populated due to slow development, making it ideal for hiding someone. The villa isn't owned by Caleb, so he wouldn't be foolish enough to use his own property for kidnapping. Mr. Rivera, we can head out to rescue her anytime."
Hearing this, Colin felt a wave of relief. They had finally found Anna. He jumped up, still in his pajamas, and rushed out the door.
Bella wanted to follow but feared she might complicate things if something unexpected happened. She didn't want Colin to have to worry about her, so she chose to stay at the villa and wait for news.
Meanwhile, in the Maple Street villa, Caleb received a call and hurriedly woke Brielle, who was still asleep.
"Pack up, quick. We gotta leave. And remember, don't tell anyone you worked here. I've transferred the money to your account. Clean up all traces in the house. We have forty minutes, so hustle!"
Brielle had known from the start that this job wasn't as simple as it seemed. She was mentally prepared for the turmoil ahead.
She quickly began cleaning the house, making sure every corner was spotless and free of any trace. She knew that any oversight could lead to dire consequences.
Caleb also knew he had to leave. He hadn't expected Colin's team to find them so quickly, catching him off guard.
The only thing that frustrated him was that he couldn't take Anna with him. They both needed time to process their emotions.
Caleb hesitated outside the bedroom door before entering. Anna lay on the bed, seemingly asleep, but Caleb knew she was just avoiding him.
He didn't call her bluff. He approached the bed and whispered, "I have your video. You know what to do and say once we leave here." He gave her a long look before closing the door.
Anna didn't fully understand Caleb's words but grasped the threat. He still had the video and was using it to intimidate her.
She sat up, trembling with anger at the thought of the video.
Brielle, exhausted from cleaning, approached Caleb. "Mr. Hayes, everything's done. Can we go now?"
Caleb took a deep breath and nodded. "Let's go."
When Colin and his team arrived at the villa, the building was eerily silent, except for a faint light coming from Anna's room.
Anna heard the commotion outside and felt a surge of fear, instinctively hiding in the corner of the bed.
But when she saw the figures entering through the dim light, she froze, tears filling her eyes. She couldn't believe it. It was like seeing a beacon of hope in the darkness. She reached out, trembling, "Colin, you're finally here."
At that moment, she understood Caleb's earlier warning. He knew Colin was coming, and she was finally free.
Colin stood there, his heart aching. He could hardly recognize the frail, pale woman before him as the vibrant girl he once knew.
In just two days, she had changed so much, looking gaunt and ghostly, with visible scars.
Colin's eyes reddened as he slowly approached her, feeling as if his heart was being squeezed.
