Chapter 17 Sadist
Sterling listened to Anna's rant about Bella's brother, and he felt this weird twist in his gut.
'Is she seriously talking about me? When did I ever treat Bella like crap?' Sterling was totally confused. He'd given Bella a loaded bank card, and Zoey always whipped up some killer meals. No way Bella was starving.
"Look at Bella's hands. Her brother's a total jerk. It's bad enough he makes her bike in this freezing weather, and he didn't even get her a pair of gloves," Anna fumed, her fists clenching tighter.
If Bella's brother was actually here, Anna would probably deck him.
Sterling glanced at Bella's hands, which were rough, even rougher than his.
"Mr. Windsor, don't you think Bella's brother is a jerk?" Anna turned to Sterling.
Sterling gave a wry smile. "Yeah, if her brother gave a damn about her, she wouldn't be like this."
Anna's eyes lit up, surprised Sterling agreed with her.
Anna wanted to keep going, but Oliver pulled her away, worried she'd say something to piss off Sterling.
Sterling didn't mind Anna leaving; he just stared at the unconscious Bella on the hospital bed.
When it was just him and Bella, Sterling pulled up a chair and sat by her side.
"Why are you so stubborn? Why don't you use the money I gave you? Why make life so hard? Do you think I'm just throwing charity at you? I didn't know you had such pride." Sterling looked at Bella, a cold smile mixed with anger on his lips.
But soon, his expression softened. Despite Bella always seeming timid around him, he knew she was super stubborn inside.
When Bella woke up, the first thing she saw was Sterling's cold face.
"Sterling, you're still here?" Bella asked softly.
"If I leave, who's gonna take care of you?" Sterling retorted, scratching his head in frustration.
"Alright, since you're awake, let's get you out of here. Home's better for recovery." Sterling said, lifting Bella's blanket.
As Bella was about to get up, Sterling suddenly scooped her up.
"What are you doing? Put me down, I can walk!" Bella blushed and struggled.
"Shut up and stay still. With your frail body, when will you ever walk out of here?" Sterling's commanding tone made Bella stop struggling. He carried her out of the hospital under everyone's gaze and placed her in the car.
On the way, Sterling drove like a maniac, making Bella a bit scared, worried they'd crash.
But luckily, they arrived safely at Windsor Villa. Zoey had already prepared a feast to welcome them.
Sterling brought Bella to the dining table and pointed to the spread, saying, "I'm gonna watch you eat all this, so no one thinks I'm treating you bad."
