Chapter 216 Bringing Up Divorce Again
"Phantom pain? How is that possible? And you said she found out she can't have children?"
Will nodded. "I heard a woman came to the ward this morning, yelling and screaming. It must have been her who told Bella, so she hasn't spoken since. The pain she's feeling now is because she can't accept it."
Sterling now wished he could tear Debra to pieces. He gritted his teeth and said coldly, "But she's in so much pain now, isn't there anything else we can do?"
Will sighed. "I'll give her a sedative shot. It needs family consent, but it'll help her sleep."
Sterling had no choice but to agree.
Sterling returned to the ward and held Bella tightly as she writhed in pain.
He felt her trembling and wished he could take her pain away. The heartache in his eyes was no longer hidden.
"Don't be afraid. I'll have the doctor give you a sedative shot. It won't hurt soon, okay?" Sterling could only soothe her gently.
"It hurts so much, so much. Let me die. I can't take it, I can't take it." Bella's screams broke Sterling's heart, and he could only hold her tighter.
"It's okay. We lost the baby, but we'll have more in the future. Bella, don't be afraid. It won't hurt soon."
At the mention of the baby, Bella exploded.
But she was confined in Sterling's arms, only able to claw and scream at him. "No, no more babies. I can't have children anymore. You're lying to me. I'll never have children again."
Sterling realized he had misspoken and quickly soothed her, "No, don't be afraid. It's okay. We'll have children, we will."
Then he yelled at the bodyguard in the ward, "Go see why Will isn't here yet."
Just as he finished speaking, Will came in with the sedative. "Stop yelling. It takes time to prepare the medication."
Sterling comforted Bella in his arms, "Now let the doctor give you a sedative shot. It won't hurt after that, okay?"
Sterling's heart was breaking. He lifted Bella's arm, but she wouldn't cooperate, making it hard for Will to administer the shot.
"Hold her down." Will told the bodyguard behind Sterling.
Sterling immediately said, "Don't touch her, I'll do it."
Sterling, with Zoey's help, forcibly held Bella down despite his heartache.
The cold medication was injected into her vein, and soon Bella gradually fell asleep in Sterling's arms. Zoey's tears hadn't stopped, and after the struggle, they were all sweating.
After Bella fell asleep, Will said, "Schedule a psychological therapy session for Bella before she leaves the hospital. This blow is devastating for a woman."
Sterling didn't need Will to tell him that.
"What a tragedy. Poor Bella." Zoey held Bella's hand, wiping her tears.
"Zoey, please watch Bella for me. I need to step out."
Sterling walked quickly to the stairwell, and soon there were six cigarette butts on the ground.
He hadn't smoked in a long time, but now he needed it to numb his nerves. It seemed like the only way to suppress his inner turmoil.
Ryan was waiting at the door. Seeing Sterling come out and the cigarette butts on the ground, he couldn't help but feel distressed.
"Mr. Windsor, your body hasn't fully recovered. You shouldn't smoke too much." Ryan reminded him.
Sterling waved his hand and then said, "Find out which hospital did Bella's initial prenatal checkup and why they didn't inform her she couldn't continue the pregnancy. That hospital doesn't need to exist anymore."
Ryan responded, "Yes, Mr. Windsor."
Sterling was furious and didn't know how to vent it. He hated himself for letting her get pregnant again, giving her hope and then taking away her chance to be a mother. Why did he have to be so cruel to her?
Sterling was about to enter the ward but remembered Bella didn't like the smell of smoke.
He immediately asked Ryan to get him some clothes. He took a shower in the outer room before entering Bella's room.
It was another sleepless night. Sterling, Zoey, and the bodyguards stayed up all night.
The next day, when Bella woke up, she only saw Zoey, not Sterling. But she knew Sterling must have been there last night.
"Does it still hurt?" Zoey quickly asked.
Bella shook her head.
Zoey saw she didn't mention last night, so she didn't bring it up either. She just smiled and said, "It's good it doesn't hurt. Here, try this. It's delicious."
Anna was heartbroken when she heard Bella had a miscarriage, and Colin ordered her to stay in bed for a few more days.
Anna felt her limbs were almost atrophied from lying down. She was only allowed out of the ward this morning.
Thinking about how she had recently gone shopping with Bella for baby clothes, shoes, and baby products, but now they were useless, her heart felt like it was blocked with wet cotton.
Anna saw Sterling sitting on a chair in the hallway. She was angry and didn't show him a good face.
Colin, behind her, reminded her to manage her expressions. Sterling's pain was no less than Bella's.
Still, Anna couldn't help but think, 'Bella is part of the much-envied Windsor family, yet she has suffered so much.' How could she show Sterling a good face?
Anna ignored Sterling and pushed open the ward door.
Sterling and Colin chatted at the door. When Anna went in, she saw Bella leaning on the bed, her eyes empty and scary, not knowing what she was thinking.
Anna quickly walked over and hugged Bella tightly. After a few days, she felt Bella was so thin, almost just skin and bones.
When Bella saw Anna, she couldn't hold back her tears. "Anna."
Anna said, "It's okay. It's all over. As long as you're okay. I was so scared. Maybe we just weren't meant to have the baby."
The car accident from a few days ago replayed in their minds like a movie, making them both shiver.
Bella told Anna she couldn't have children. Anna was stunned, pain flashing in her eyes, and then she said, "If you can't have children, then don't."
"Look at those women whose bodies change after having kids, trapped by their children every day. It's not that great. They get annoyed by their naughty kids every day. I'll be with you. If I get married, I won't have kids either. We'll both be child-free."
Colin, outside, was speechless.
Bella looked at Anna and suddenly smiled. She and Anna had cried and laughed together. Even for something like not having kids, Anna wanted to be the same as her.
Bella was amused by her words, and her mood inexplicably improved.
Bella's cold heart warmed up again. She said, "Anna, thank you. I'm okay, just heartbroken and can't accept it."
Then Bella looked at Anna seriously and said, "I want a divorce. I want to divorce Sterling."
