Chapter 183 Knocked Out Again
"Debra, if you dare lie to me, you know the consequences," Sterling's cold voice echoed.
Bella felt as if she had been hit on the head, instantly waking up. Debra had indeed brought Sterling to catch them.
She didn't have time to go back upstairs because Sterling must have already noticed she wasn't in her room.
If Sterling found out she and James were lying in the same bed, she couldn't imagine what crazy things Sterling might do.
Bella broke out in a cold sweat despite the October weather. She couldn't imagine what would happen if Sterling caught her lying with James.
Bella remembered the last time she and James were together, Sterling had gone mad with revenge. She couldn't imagine what he would do if he caught them this time.
Bella didn't have time to think anymore. She got up; she couldn't let Sterling catch her.
Even if she wasn't found on James' bed, she couldn't explain why she was in the stairwell on this floor in her pajamas in the middle of the night.
Bella didn't care if Sterling would believe her anymore; she had to leave this place quickly, or she wouldn't be able to explain herself.
Bella bit her lip, the taste of blood and the pain bringing her clarity.
Ignoring the pain in her foot, Bella limped down the stairs.
As she turned the corner on the second floor, she suddenly lost strength and tumbled down the stairs.
Elijah, who was smoking in the stairwell, saw her fall. He turned and recognized her as Sterling's wife.
Elijah's eyes lit up, and he walked over.
Bella lay on the ground for a while before she saw a pair of men's shoes in her vision. She looked up with effort and saw it was Elijah.
Bella tried to stay calm and stood up, holding onto the stairs. "Please move."
Elijah could tell Bella was not in her right mind, but her calm demeanor made him unsure.
Elijah smirked lewdly. "You're Sterling's wife, right? Need some help?"
Bella pushed away Elijah's hand. "No, thank you."
Bella held onto the stair railing and continued down.
Elijah watched her retreating figure and smiled. He had been waiting for an opportunity, and now it had come.
But Elijah knew he couldn't act directly. If he did, Sterling would have something on him.
Watching Bella go downstairs, Elijah quickly took out his phone and called the kidnappers he had arranged with. Tonight was the perfect time to act.
He had been worried about finding a chance to act since Sterling and Bella were always together. Now that Bella was alone, it was the perfect opportunity.
He confirmed Bella's route with the kidnappers and went back to wait for news.
When Bella reached the main hall's stairwell, she thought about finding Sterling. But she realized he was probably upstairs, and she was in her pajamas, making it inconvenient to go out.
Her phone was also upstairs, so she couldn't contact anyone. Desperately thinking of a solution, she didn't notice someone approaching from behind.
Suddenly, she felt a sharp pain in her neck and lost consciousness.
The kidnappers quickly dragged Bella to a corner. Just then, Elijah appeared.
Seeing Bella's beautiful face and figure, he felt an itch to touch her but remembered Liam's instructions: use her to drive a wedge between Sterling and Micah, and avoid trouble.
Elijah restrained himself. "Fuck, such a fine woman, but I can't touch her."
Suddenly, he thought of another plan.
Instead of kidnapping Bella to create a rift between Sterling and Micah, which Sterling might not even believe, why not do something more vile?
If Micah violated Bella, how would Sterling react?
'If your best friend violated your wife, anyone would go mad.' The more Elijah thought about it, the more excited he became. 'Yes, that's the plan.'
Elijah's eyes gleamed with calculation. He told the kidnappers, "Hide her first. I'll take care of Micah."
Elijah returned to the banquet hall and saw Micah flirting with another girl.
His eyes flashed with malice as he touched his pocket. The drugs he had intended for himself would now be used on Micah.
Elijah spiked a glass of red wine and called a waiter. "Take this to Micah over there."
From a distance, Micah unsuspectingly took the wine. Elijah watched as Micah drank it, waiting for the drug to take effect.
Soon, Micah felt the effects, and Elijah had him taken to an upstairs room.
He waited for the moment of exposure, eager to see Micah and Sterling's relationship shatter. This time, Sterling would have to choose.
Meanwhile, Anna, taken away by Colin, was confronting him in a hallway corner, with a resentful Opal nearby.
After Colin pulled Anna away, Opal followed, shouting, "Colin."
Colin turned back impatiently. "Can you stop following me? Get lost."
Opal, unfazed by Colin's harshness, said, "Are you really rejecting me for this bitch? We were engaged."
Anna, feeling helpless, thought she shouldn't have come tonight.
She shook off Colin's hand. "Miss Turner, there's a misunderstanding. Colin and I have nothing going on, and your issues shouldn't involve me."
Anna turned to leave. Colin, entangled with Opal, watched her go and pushed Opal away coldly. "Get lost. Even if we weren't engaged, I could never like you."
Colin pushed Opal aside and chased after Anna.
Anna, confused by Colin's behavior, turned back and glared at him. "Colin, what are you doing? Tonight is your mother's birthday party. Can you stop acting crazy?"
Colin, exasperated, said, "Anna, don't be ungrateful. I saw Opal bothering you and came to help. Don't overthink it, okay?"
Anna didn't know what to say. As they stood in silence, they overheard some ladies talking around the corner.
"Did you hear? Tonight, Mr. Rivera's mother is going to choose a daughter-in-law from among the many female guests."
