Chapter 98 The Windsor Villa Servant

Bella was at her breaking point, and she had really pushed Sterling's buttons this time.

Sterling hurled his wine glass to the floor, and the shards scattered around Bella's feet, mirroring the state of her heart.

A piece of glass nicked Bella's calf, and a thin line of blood trickled down, but she didn't even flinch.

Sterling bellowed, "Fine, if that's how you feel, then get out. Starting tomorrow, whatever the servants do, you do."

Bella's heart had turned to stone; his words didn't sting anymore. Instead, she felt a strange sense of relief from his outburst.

As she walked away, she remembered her resolve from the day before to not provoke him, yet here she was, having done it again.

Bella shook her head and let out a bitter laugh. 'Bella, just admit it; you want to leave him, but you can't.'

She felt a weird satisfaction from making Sterling mad, but also a deep emptiness inside.

Instead of going back to her room, she headed straight to the servants' quarters where Zoey lived.

Zoey saw Bella and instantly knew there had been another fight with Sterling.

She shook her head and sighed. "Mrs. Windsor, why can't you just give in? What good does it do to make Mr. Windsor angry?"

Bella replied, "I'm not giving in. Starting today, I'm just like you, a servant at The Windsor Villa, not Mrs. Windsor. You don't have to treat me like before. Tonight, I'll stay with you."

Her stubbornness left Zoey speechless.

Zoey sighed and prepared a small room for Bella.

It was tiny, just like the attic Bella had lived in as a child. But she thought sleeping here was better than being in Sterling's bed. Now, sleeping beside him felt like lying next to a cold, venomous snake, especially after the car accident.

Bella found Sterling to be incredibly cold and cruel, like a venomous snake ready to bite her neck at any moment. No, Sterling had always been a lurking serpent.

Zoey made the bed and tried to persuade her again, "Just apologize to Mr. Windsor. Staying with us is really beneath you. Isn't it better to be Mrs. Windsor?"

Bella listened, smiled bitterly, and said, "Zoey, it's not as simple as you think. I want to leave here. I've always wanted to leave, but you know he won't let me go, and I don't care about being Mrs. Windsor. I just want freedom."

Zoey sighed again. "Mrs. Windsor, you're still young. You're so lucky but don't realize it. Do you know how many girls dream of marrying Mr. Windsor? Now you're fighting with him and moving here? Are you planning to fight with him like this forever?"

Bella shook her head, tears streaming down her face. "I don't know...I don't know how long I can endure this life, but Zoey, I really don't want to be with him every day. Let me stay here, so I'll feel a little better. Every time I lie next to him, I feel suffocated. My child can't die in vain, you know, Zoey?"

Zoey's heart ached for her. "I know losing your child is hard, but it happened, Mrs. Windsor. Dwelling on it will only bring more sadness."

Zoey muttered to herself, "Mr. Windsor seemed in a good mood when he got back tonight. How did you manage to tick him off after your shopping trip? He's probably upstairs breaking stuff now; I heard the noise."

Bella shook her head, too tired to talk. She just said, "Zoey, starting tomorrow, I'll help you with the work."

Zoey looked at Bella with concern. "Your body hasn't fully recovered yet. Don't push yourself too hard. There's not much to do, and you don't need to..." But Bella just kept crying, and Zoey couldn't bear to watch anymore, so she advised her to rest early.

Bella was really worn out after a day of shopping. She fell asleep without realizing it, with tear stains still on her face.

Zoey went out and came back to find her asleep, sighed, and covered her with a blanket.

The next day, Bella suddenly remembered she had asked Sterling to take her to Debra's birthday party today, but after last night, Sterling probably wouldn't mention it again.

Sure enough, he didn't bring up the birthday party, but the dress was still delivered.

However, Bella ignored it and had them send the dress upstairs.

She could imagine Sterling and Debra dancing at the party, and her heart ached.

Bella kept herself busy with work.

Zoey realized Bella was indeed trying to prove something to Sterling.

In the past few days, Sterling came home early every day, deliberately staying in the living room for a long time, but he never saw Bella.

Because Bella didn't want to see him, she deliberately avoided the living room. But today, for some reason, Sterling suddenly called Zoey over and asked, "Where is she?"

Zoey said Bella was giving Sunny a bath.

Sterling coldly said, "Go get her."

Zoey didn't dare disobey him and had to call Bella over.

Bella's expression was cold. She kept her head down and didn't look at Sterling.

Sterling pointed to the sofa and floor in the living room and said, "Clean this up."

Bella looked down at the floor and sofa, which were spotless.

She knew he was making things difficult for her, forcing her to give in, but she said nothing. She turned around, got a cloth and a bucket, and started scrubbing the floor.

Sterling sat on the living room sofa, watching her move inch by inch on the floor.

Neither of them was willing to yield first.

Zoey stood not far away, shaking her head. With Bella and Sterling's tempers, no one could persuade them. She could only turn away to do other things.

The rain was pouring outside, and lightning suddenly illuminated the small house Anna rented, followed by thunder and Anna's sharp questioning. "Mom, did you touch my bank card?"
