Chapter 223 I Regret It

Colin didn't expect that Gia, a powerful woman in the business world, would actually like a girl like Anna.

But it was just as well; he was worried Gia might make things difficult for Anna.

At the dinner table, Anna ate quietly, showing her true self. Her personality was indeed carefree, but she had also grown up in a wealthy environment.

She had all the qualities of a lady, and her manners were impeccable.

Anna's behavior brought a smile to Gia's face. She didn't expect that even though the Powell family had fallen, Anna still had the demeanor of nobility in her bones, and Gia was very pleased.

After dinner, Gia saw them out the door.

Anna sat in the car, finally relaxing. This job was not something just anyone could handle.

Colin raised an eyebrow. "Regretting it?"

Anna had figured it out. She realized that Gia seemed quite easy to get along with. At least Gia liked her and didn't give her a cold shoulder.

It was just Anna who felt awkward, after all, she and Colin weren't really a couple.

"Regret? Not at all." Anna thought, "Getting $100,000 just for having dinner with Gia? This is definitely worth continuing."

"Don't forget to transfer the money to me."

Colin smiled and didn't respond.

Anna had Colin drop her off at home, but she never expected that as soon as Colin's car left, Caleb's car would pull up beside her.

Seeing Caleb, Anna immediately turned to leave, but Caleb quickly got out of the car and grabbed her. "Anna, were you just with Colin?"

Anna shook off Caleb and said coldly, "Who I'm with is none of your business. What are you doing at my doorstep?"

Caleb looked at Anna with a hurt expression. "Anna, I know you still hate me, but Anna, I regret it."

Anna's heart stirred at his words, but she replied, "Whether you regret it or not has nothing to do with me."

"I love you. I've never forgotten you. You know that. Since I left you, I've thought about you every single day. When I came back to the country, I thought if I could see you again, I would never let you go. Anna, can we go back to the way we were?"

Caleb said, his eyes red, expressing his feelings word by word.

Anna looked at Caleb, feeling a pang in her heart.

She had truly loved Colin, and after he abandoned her, he came back saying he loved her. She felt helpless and found it laughable.

Her good mood for the evening was ruined. "Caleb, stop dreaming. We're over. There won't be a future."

Anna turned to leave, but Caleb suddenly hugged her from behind. "Anna, I'm sorry, really sorry. If I could make it up to you, I would do anything."

Anna, held in Caleb's arms, suddenly felt her eyes well up.

She had never imagined Caleb would come back to reconcile with her, but now that it was happening, she found she wasn't as happy as she thought she would be.

Anna calmly said, "Let go of me. We're not kids anymore. You can't just hit me and then give me candy to make it better. Grow up."

Caleb didn't let go but said more firmly, "Anna, this time I won't let you go. Give me a chance to make it up to you, okay?"

Anna, with a determined attitude, said, "Stop being crazy. This is my house. If my mom sees us, it'll be hard to explain."

Caleb finally let go, looking at Anna's face with more seriousness. "We were each other's first love. Do you really have no feelings for me at all? Or have you fallen in love with someone else?"

Anna immediately retorted, "I haven't."

Caleb suddenly smiled. "Really? Then you still love me, right? Let's give each other another chance, at least let me make it up to you."

Caleb's gentle demeanor, especially when he deliberately lowered his voice, made his eyes full of tenderness that could make anyone fall for him.

Anna suddenly turned her head, looking away in a panic.

"It's late. You should go back."

Caleb said, "Okay, I'll go back. But I'll come to see you again."

"Anna, every day since we broke up, I've regretted it. I just wanted to become better, more worthy of you, and then come back to you."

"But now I realize time won't wait forever, and you won't stay in the same place waiting for me, right?"

"But this time, I don't want you to wait for me. You can keep moving forward, and I'll catch up to you, okay?"

"Just give me another chance. No, just give me a chance to see you, and that will be enough."

Caleb finished and took out the necklace again. "This is the necklace you returned to me last time. I hope this time you won't refuse."

"I know you used to love astronomy. When I first saw this starry sky necklace, I thought it suited you. Please don't refuse me, okay?"

Caleb's sincere words made Anna's heart even more flustered. She took the necklace Caleb handed her again, realizing she could never refuse Caleb.

She said harsh words, but her heart was honest. She couldn't refuse Caleb's gentleness or his closeness.

Anna couldn't help but think of their once beautiful and sweet times. Those days were worth reminiscing about for a lifetime.

Until Caleb's car drove away, she was still standing there in a daze. What should she choose this time?

Back home, Anna threw herself onto the bed. The starry sky necklace had come back to her hands again.

At the Windsor Villa.

Bella had just been discharged from the hospital and didn't have much of an appetite. She ate a little and then went back to her room.

This time, her talk of divorce with Sterling didn't go well. They seemed to have a tacit understanding not to bring it up again.

Bella knew Sterling wouldn't agree, and Sterling knew that if he let go, Bella would leave him. He wouldn't allow that to happen.

Bella went upstairs and quickly finished her bath.

She had multiple fractures before, so after being discharged, she couldn't bathe alone. Zoey had been helping her.

But today, she bathed herself. Although her wounds had healed, they left scars.

Sterling had someone prepare a scar removal ointment for her, which worked well but needed to be applied every night to make the scars disappear.

Zoey usually helped her apply it, but Zoey was busy today and didn't come up.

Since some scars were on her back, she was trying to apply the ointment herself when Sterling suddenly came in.

Bella was startled and quickly put on her clothes.

Sterling walked up behind her, took the ointment from her hand, and said calmly, "I'll help you apply it."

Bella felt awkward and said, "No need."
