Chapter 64 Criticism

James and Amara split up on a sour note after their fight.

When Amara got home, she went on a rampage, smashing stuff left and right. "James, can't you see how I feel about you? Why are you into that married chick, Bella?"

After blowing off some steam, Amara felt a bit better. She grabbed her phone and called Sterling, planning to get him to deal with Bella. But Sterling had other plans.

"Damn James, if you don't get it together, don't blame me for what happens next." Sterling ordered someone to dig up dirt on the Savoy Family; he wanted to teach James a serious lesson.

As for Amara's request to control Bella, Sterling just sneered. "You don't get to tell me how to handle my wife."

When Bella got back to the villa, Zoey had already whipped up a fancy dinner.

"It smells amazing, Zoey. Is Sterling back? I don't see him," Bella asked while digging in.

Zoey shook her head. "Mr. Windsor's not back yet; he needs another day."

Bella frowned at the mountain of food. "Zoey, if Sterling's not here, don't make so much. It's just gonna go to waste."

Zoey shrugged. "It won't go to waste. If you can't finish it, we will."

Bella didn't have a comeback for that. As she kept eating, she felt a slight cramp in her stomach.

Zoey's face turned a bit weird. She hesitated before saying, "Mrs. Windsor, when I called Mr. Windsor, I think I heard a woman's voice in the background. Shouldn't you do something about it?"

Bella's mind went straight to Debra. She shook her head. "That's Sterling's business; it's got nothing to do with me."

"But you're the lady of the house!" Zoey said, sounding worried.

Bella looked at Zoey and gave a bitter smile. "Zoey, you're kidding. You heard what Sterling said last time. He's the boss here, and he decides who the lady of the house is. Besides, there's no love between us."

"That's crazy. You must be overthinking it," Zoey suddenly shouted, frustrated.

"If Mr. Windsor really didn't love you, why would he keep you around for so long? If either of you had just said 'I love you,' things wouldn't be this messy." Zoey had been holding this in for a while and finally let it out.

Bella was taken aback; Zoey rarely spoke to her like this.

"That's not true. There's no love between Sterling and me. He keeps me around just to get back at me because I'm his enemy's daughter," Bella said, but Zoey wasn't having it.

Zoey threw her hands up and shouted, "Oh my God, why are you two so dense? If he really wanted revenge, why didn't he make you a servant like us? Why let you study design and painting instead of making you mow the lawn? And after living together for over a decade, don't you have any feelings for each other?"

Bella was silent, stumped by Zoey's questions. If she said there were no feelings between her and Sterling after all these years, that would be a lie. But their feelings were complicated and not as simple as people thought.

"But every time he sees me, he's always so cold. He's nice to everyone else, but not to me. He just messes with my head for no reason," Bella said, feeling hurt as she looked at Zoey.

Zoey sighed, rubbing her forehead. "That's why I say you both are idiots. If Mr. Windsor treated you a bit better, you'd probably be into him, right? And the reason he gets mad at you is because you hang out with James, isn't it?"

Zoey had heard from Ryan why Sterling had been so pissed at Bella lately.

"Enough. James and I are just friends. We haven't done anything to betray Sterling. He never trusts me, and if he can go out with Debra, why can't I see another guy?" Bella slammed the table and stood up, but then she felt a sharp pain in her stomach.

Zoey saw Bella's pained expression and quickly went to help her. "Alright, my bad. I shouldn't have said that. What's wrong?"

Bella waved her off. "Maybe it's my gastritis acting up again. I've been having random stomach pains lately and feel nauseous when I smell certain fishy things."

Zoey was taken aback. "Your stomach issues haven't flared up in years, and those symptoms sound more like pregnancy."

Bella froze. She and Sterling had only slept together once; could she really be pregnant from that?

"That's impossible. I saw a doctor, and it's definitely not pregnancy." Bella smiled at Zoey and then headed upstairs.

Zoey frowned as she watched Bella leave. She felt like Bella was hiding something, so she went to find Ryan. Ryan had been driving Bella around lately, so he might know if she'd been to the hospital.

Back in her room, Bella felt a bit anxious. She'd been having stomach pains, thinking it was her period. But now that she thought about it, her period had been missing for a while.

"Could I really be pregnant?" Bella felt a bit panicked.

She searched online for pregnancy symptoms and found that her recent symptoms matched up pretty well.

"That's impossible. The chances of getting pregnant are only 20%. How could I be so unlucky?" Bella tried to calm herself, but she was really nervous inside.

After thinking for a bit, she got dressed and went downstairs. Ryan was in the living room.

"Ryan, my stomach's bothering me. Can you take me to the pharmacy to get some medicine?" Bella's request immediately made Ryan suspicious.

"Mrs. Windsor, don't we have stomach medicine at home?" Ryan asked, puzzled.

Bella didn't want to tell Ryan she was going to buy a pregnancy test. She made up an excuse that the medicine at home wasn't working and she needed something stronger.

Ryan hesitated for a moment, then nodded and took Bella to the pharmacy.

After Bella bought the medicine and returned to the Windsor Villa, Ryan went back to the pharmacy to ask what Bella had bought.

When Ryan found out Bella had bought a pregnancy test, he was stunned.
