Chapter 134 A Weary Heart

Colin scratched his head, looking a bit lost. "You puked all over my bed and yourself. I couldn't let you sleep in dirty clothes, so yeah, I changed them. But I swear, I did it with my eyes closed. If I touched anything I shouldn't have, it wasn't on purpose."

Anna was furious. She pointed at him, "Colin, you jerk! You did it and now you're making excuses? I can't stand you."

Colin was about to lose it. "I really didn't do anything else, okay?"

Anna sighed, "Let's just say I was sleepwalking and forget about it."

She decided to act like none of this ever happened.

Colin, his face turning livid, muttered, "I shouldn't have brought you back last night. Should've just let you freeze on the street."

He continued, "Do you even remember what you said yesterday?"

Anna, stiffening up, replied, "What did I say? Nothing I said changes the fact that you're a lousy playboy."

Colin, heading to the bathroom, said, "You said you wanted to be my assistant, my personal assistant."

Anna thought back to the bar last night and could only slap her forehead. Drinking really messed things up.

"Fine, can we just forget about today?" she asked.

Colin said, "I didn't do anything wrong. What am I supposed to forget?"

Anna wrapped herself tightly in the blanket and yelled towards the bathroom, "Where are my clothes?"

Colin, brushing his teeth, poked his head out. "I threw them away."

Anna was livid, feeling light-headed with rage. "You threw them away? What am I supposed to wear now?"

She regretted her actions, vowing never to drink again.

Colin said, "Don't worry, I already had someone buy you new clothes. They'll be here soon."

"What about my underwear? Did you throw that away too?" Anna asked through gritted teeth.

Colin stuck his head out again, holding a black bra with his finger. "This? I soaked it in water. Do you want it?"

Anna felt a surge of anger, shouting, "Colin!"

Colin shrugged and tossed the bra back into the sink. "I already had someone buy you new clothes."

Anna asked through gritted teeth, "Who? Who did you ask to buy my clothes? It better not be someone from the company."

Colin raised an eyebrow, "If I didn't ask my secretary, who else would I ask? Should I go buy them myself?"

Anna took a deep breath. "Colin, are you crazy? Are you trying to let everyone know I stayed at your place last night?"

Her eyes were burning with anger. She wished she could go back to last night and knock some sense into herself. What was she thinking? Why did she drink? Drinking causes nothing but trouble!

Anna glared at Colin again. "If you let this slip to anyone else, you'll regret it tonight."

Colin snorted, "I'm not into that stuff. Besides, nothing happened between us. If they know, so be it."

Anna scoffed. She knew Colin had a fiancée, and she had even met her once. Now, she just wanted to leave as soon as possible.

As Anna was about to sneak out after changing her clothes, Colin grabbed her collar. "I'm going to the company with you."

Anna pleaded, "Mr. Rivera, please don't make this harder for me. If people at work find out and start gossiping, I won't be able to handle it. I'm just trying to protect my reputation."

Colin raised an eyebrow, "What's the big deal? If I'm not worried, why are you?"

Anna hated being seen as the other woman, but here she was, stuck in that exact situation. What a mess.

Colin dragged her out the door and into his car.

As they left Whitewater Bay, Anna realized she was lucky she didn't refuse his ride. The place was practically in the mountains, miles from the company.

If she had to walk to find a cab, it would probably be dark before she got to work.

"Why do you live so far out?" she grumbled.

Colin glanced at her, "What's it to you where I live?"

Anna was so mad she didn't speak to him the whole way. When they were about 600 feet from the company, she made him stop the car.

Colin had no choice but to stop, and Anna bolted out of the car.

He watched her run like she was being chased, shook his head with a smile, and then drove into the company's underground garage.

But to his surprise, when Colin came up, he saw Anna being stopped by a woman.

Anna hurriedly pulled the woman to the company's side door, and he vaguely heard Anna call the woman "Mom" in a low, submissive voice.

Colin shook his head and went into the company.

It turned out that as soon as Anna arrived at the office entrance, Qiana caught her red-handed. She grabbed Anna and started yelling, "You jerk, where were you last night? Why didn't you come back to cook for me? Are you trying to starve me? And now you dare stay out all night!"

Anna didn't want to cause a scene at the company entrance early in the morning, so she tried to calm her down, "Mom, I had something to do last night and stayed at a friend's place. Can we talk about this at home?"

Qiana glared at Anna, "What's there to talk about? You don't give me money, you don't cook for me, are you trying to starve me?"

Anna frowned and said, "Mom, can you not make a scene at my company? We'll talk about this at home."

But Qiana wouldn't let it go, "Fine, Anna, are you trying to ditch me? I'm telling you, you'll never get rid of me. If you don't give me money and take care of me, I'll make a scene at your company. I'll let your colleagues and friends see what kind of person you are, someone who doesn't even take care of her own mother. Let's see how you face them then!"

Anna felt a tightness in her chest, struggling to breathe.

She saw her colleagues looking over and whispering about her. She gritted her teeth and dragged Qiana to the company's side door, out of sight of her colleagues.

Anna then coldly said, "Mom, you just spent $20,000 of my money. Why didn't you tell me? Didn't we agree not to spend extravagantly anymore? Why are you back to your old ways?"
