Chapter 437 Want to Break Up

Just as Colin was about to kiss her, Anna turned her face away gently, dodging his advance.

Colin paused, taken aback by the unexpected rejection. His brow furrowed slightly, confusion and uncertainty flickering in his eyes. He reached out, gently but firmly grasping her chin, turning her face back to him, forcing her to look at him. "What's going on? You don't want me to touch you anymore? Are you still mad about this morning? I messed up, okay? Please, forgive me."

His tone carried a mix of compromise and plea, clearly not wanting a minor issue to damage their relationship. However, faced with his gentle persistence, Anna seemed hesitant and conflicted. She didn't know what to say; her heart was filled with complex emotions, both attachment to Colin and uncertainty about her future feelings.

Taking a deep breath, she tried to sound more resolute. "No, I just don't feel like it right now..." Her eyes darted around, searching for the right words to express her feelings.

Anna knew her response might disappoint Colin, but she didn't want to force herself. She hadn't yet figured out how to handle this relationship.

Colin didn't seem overly affected by her initial rejection. Acting on instinct and desire, he leaned in, capturing her small, sensitive earlobe with his lips.

His movements were gentle and skilled, carrying an irresistible charm, as if expressing his apology and affection through this act.

"You don't need to do anything, just let me handle it." Colin's voice was low and magnetic, each word seemingly imbued with a soothing magic, attempting to calm her unease and confusion. His touch was as skilled as ever, each contact sending a shiver through her, making it hard to resist sinking into his tenderness.

Anna's heart raced, her rationality blurring, as if this force was about to completely consume her.

Just as she was about to lose herself entirely in his embrace, she suddenly snapped out of it. She pushed him away with determination, her eyes filled with a mix of panic and resolve. "What time is it? The bakery must be really busy right now, and I have dinner plans with Bella. I need to go help her!"

Colin was startled by her sudden push, as if a cold wind had blown over him or someone had doused him with cold water, instantly quelling the heat and desire within him.

Suppressing his irritation, he put on a good-natured expression and continued to cling to Anna. "Can't you go a bit later? I'll come with you and help out at the bakery, okay?"

Anna shook her head firmly, her eyes showing an undeniable resolve. "No, we've only got a couple of days off. Let's not spend all our time in bed. I want to go out and explore more."

As she spoke, her gaze avoided direct contact with Colin's, making him even more puzzled. He couldn't figure out Anna's true thoughts. If she was merely upset about the morning, her attitude wouldn't be this cold and distant.

Her behavior seemed more like she simply didn't want him near her or touching her.

Colin took a deep breath, trying to keep his tone calm and patient. "Are you still mad? I know I messed up. I didn't think about your feelings enough. I'm willing to compromise and respect you, okay? Please don't be mad. We've been apart for days. Don't you miss me even a little?"

Colin's eyes were filled with expectation and plea, waiting for Anna's affirmative response. However, Anna just sighed softly, her eyes showing a complex emotion. She didn't know how to answer because she knew it wasn't just about the morning incident. It was also about her deep confusion and anxiety about the future and their relationship.

But all Anna could do was shake her head lightly, her eyes showing a mix of tenderness and determination. "I'm not mad, but right now, I really don't want to do that."

Colin was silent for a few seconds, seemingly pondering her words. Then he cautiously asked, "So you just don't feel like it right now? There's no other reason, like still being mad about this morning or having any complaints about me?"

Anna looked at him and nodded firmly, her voice soft but resolute. "Yes, I just don't feel like it right now."

Hearing this, Colin finally relaxed. He let out a long sigh of relief, gently ruffling Anna's hair with a gesture full of affection and understanding. "Alright, I get it. Go get ready, and I'll go with you to the bakery."

But Anna instinctively refused. "No, it's okay. I'll go by myself. You've got your own things to do. Don't waste your time at the bakery. Besides, the kitchen gets pretty hot. You wouldn't like it. We'll have dinner together tonight. I'll call you then, okay?"

Colin thought about his afternoon plans and didn't argue. He smiled and nodded, his voice filled with affection. "Okay, whatever you say. Be careful on your way, and let me know when you get to the bakery. I'll wait for you for dinner."

At the bakery, Anna quickly changed into her work clothes, expertly tying her apron and putting on a mask before heading into the kitchen.

The kitchen was orderly, with various ingredients and tools neatly arranged, the air filled with a tempting sweet aroma.

Though the kitchen usually had the air conditioning running, in this hot season, it was cranked up even more to maintain the desserts' best taste and quality. Some desserts needed to be stored at specific temperatures to keep their optimal flavor.

Bella, the bakery owner and head chef, usually handled things herself when it was quiet. But today, with more customers, she had to step in.

Bella was focused on mixing batter and didn't look up when Anna entered. "What are you doing in the kitchen? You don't really know how to make desserts. Go help Serafina with the drinks. They're short-handed."

Anna paused, a flicker of complex emotion in her eyes. She replied absentmindedly, "I'll help you. Serafina's side isn't that busy."

Bella finally noticed the odd tone in Anna's voice and looked up, her brow furrowing slightly. "What's up with you? You're not yourself today."
