Chapter 389 Mira's Text Message

Bella tried to stay calm. "Mira, earlier today, Dash and Debra came to my store causing trouble, but I managed to get rid of them. Tonight, someone came and trashed my store. It just happened. Who do you think did it?"

On the other end of the line, Mira's voice instantly became more alert. Realizing the gravity of the situation, she quickly tried to reassure Bella.

"How could they do that? Bella, don't panic. Find a safe place to hide. No matter what happens, protect yourself. I'll get there as soon as I can."

After a brief silence, Bella spoke again, her tone calm but firm. "Mira, you chose these people. Don't you know them? You always say women love bad boys, but my dad was a gentleman."

"He would never act like Dash, behaving like a thug. I hope you can handle this, because it's your ex-husband and your daughter. I don't want them causing trouble for me or my store again. Remember, my patience is limited. If it happens again, I won't let them off easy."

Without giving Mira a chance to respond, Bella hung up. Her voice had been steady, but every word carried an undeniable firmness and warning.

After ending the call, Bella took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart. She looked at Anna and Isadora, who were watching her with worried eyes.

Forcing a small smile, she tried to reassure them. "Don't worry, I've contacted Mira. He'll take care of it."

Anna looked around at the mess, especially the shattered front wall and door, and frowned in distress. "Oh my God, the wall and door are completely smashed. How much is this going to cost? And if we leave, what if a thief sneaks in with no door or wall to stop them?"

Bella understood Anna's concern. She quickly scanned the room, thinking of a solution. After a moment, she had an idea.

"Don't worry, I have a plan. We'll spread some ketchup on the floor. Even the bravest thief, in the dark, seeing all that red, will think a murder happened here and be scared off. By morning, anyone can see it's just ketchup, and we won't have to worry. Also, we'll lock up any doors we can. That should hold us over for now."

Anna found Bella's suggestion a bit amusing but realized it was a practical emergency measure. She nodded and began helping Bella and Isadora spread the ketchup on the floor, trying to make it look like blood.

They also secured the store's important items to ensure nothing would be stolen.

After a while, the store was somewhat tidied up. It still looked chaotic, but at least they had a psychological barrier in place. Bella checked the time; it was almost dawn.

She patted Anna and Isadora on the shoulders. "It's late. We've secured the important things. Let's leave the rest to Mira. We need to get home and rest. We have a lot to do tomorrow."

Mira, after receiving Bella's call, felt a mix of anger and disappointment that made it hard to stay calm.

Without hesitation, Mira dialed Dash's number, but the call went unanswered.

She tried calling Debra, but it was the same—no response. It was as if they had vanished, avoiding the impending storm.

Mira wasn't surprised by their avoidance. She knew them too well. They always tried to live on the edge, exploiting others' kindness and weakness to get what they wanted. This time, they had clearly miscalculated.

Frustrated, Mira decided not to waste any more time on futile calls. She picked up her phone and composed a lengthy message, each word filled with her disappointment and resolve.

[Dash, I never thought you'd turn out like this. I used to believe that even after our divorce, we could maintain some decency and respect for Debra's sake. But I was wrong. You're not just a scumbag; you're a thug. I know you and Debra didn't go abroad. You're hiding somewhere, living off the $100,000 I send you each month. But that ends now.I won't give you another cent. If you bother Bella again, don't say I didn't warn you. She has Sterling behind her, someone you definitely don't want to mess with. You won't know what hit you.

That's all I have to say. I don't want to talk anymore. Since you don't want to study, and Debra is an adult now, I won't take care of her or you anymore. You're on your own.]

After sending the message, Mira let out a long sigh, feeling as if a weight had been lifted from her shoulders.

She knew this message was not just a warning to Dash and Debra but also a farewell to her past mistakes.

Mira closed her eyes, knowing she had to make changes for Bella and for herself.

The night remained deep and silent, but for many, it was a sleepless night.

Seeing Mira's message, Debra's anger and unease flared up. She couldn't sit still any longer. Grabbing her phone, she dialed Mira's number with trembling fingers.

When the call connected, she almost screamed, "What did that bitch Bella tell you? You believe everything she says? I'm your real daughter, and she's just an unwanted bastard! How can you cut ties with me for her? You're so heartless!"

On the other end, Mira's voice was unusually calm and firm. "Debra, you're wrong. Bella is not an unwanted bastard. She's one of the most important people in my life. And you, though my biological daughter, have completely disappointed me. You've not only betrayed me but also tried to hurt innocent people. Someone like you doesn't deserve to be my daughter."

Debra listened to Mira's words, her anger and resentment surging like a tidal wave. She couldn't accept this reality, couldn't accept being so decisively abandoned by her own mother.

Debra continued to shout, "How can you say I betrayed you? I just want to pursue my own happiness! What's so great about Bella? She's just an ordinary girl. Why does she get your favor?"

Mira sighed, her voice filled with disappointment and helplessness. "Debra, don't you get it? Happiness isn't about taking from and hurting others. I owe Bella a lot. I'm paying for my mistakes. What about you? Are you willing to pay for yours?"
