Chapter 339 Coming to Make Friends

"Didn't you say you had the day off? Why are you here so early?" Bella asked Lily during a break.

Lily paused while wiping down the bar. "I don't have any family here for the holidays, so I didn't have much to do. Serafina mentioned you guys would be busy today, so I thought I'd come in. But I don't need triple pay, just the regular rate is fine."

Bella smiled slightly. "Are you from around here?"

"No, I'm alone," Lily nodded.

Bella nodded, feeling a pang of sympathy. "If you ever need any help, just let us know."

"Thanks, Bella. I'm used to being on my own, but it does get lonely sometimes. Work helps me find some comfort," Lily replied, trying to keep her tone light.

Bella understood how tough it must be for Lily, working far from home without family support. She gave a few more words of encouragement before heading to the kitchen.

Once Bella left, Lily realized her palms were sweaty and let out a quiet sigh of relief.

Anna suddenly appeared behind Lily, grinning. "What's up? Are you scared of Bella? You looked pretty tense just now."

Lily laughed at Anna's unexpected question and shook her head. "Not scared, just... Bella has this special presence. I feel a mix of respect and closeness, so I always try to be extra careful when talking to her."

Anna blinked, seeming to understand. "I see. You really think highly of Bella, huh? Well, you're right. She's great, and we all love her. Don't worry, she won't bite."

Lily chuckled at Anna's words, feeling more at ease. She nodded.

Just then, a group of young men walked in, catching their attention.

Anna whispered to Lily, "Look at them, all dressed up. Is this some company event? Where are the women?"

Lily followed Anna's gaze, curious. The men looked sharp in matching suits, their name tags reflecting the light.

"Maybe it's a new employee orientation," Lily guessed.

Anna approached them with a warm welcome. "Hi there! What can I get you?"

One of the men smiled politely. "We're from a nearby company, here for a team-building event. We heard your drinks are great and wanted to try them."

Anna enthusiastically seated them and recommended some of the shop's specialties.

The men exchanged amused glances.

One, who seemed to be the leader, said, "Thanks for the suggestions, but we're here to stay and enjoy the place. Can we get your contact info for future orders?"

Before Anna could respond, Lily stepped in, placing the menu on their table with a firm hand. "Just a moment, your order will be ready soon."

One of the men persisted, "Can we save your number?"

Lily replied coolly, "You can save the shop's number. It's on the wall over there."

The man wasn't fazed and asked with a grin, "Will you be the one answering?"

"Whoever's available will answer," Lily said bluntly.

The men didn't seem embarrassed and continued, "We heard there are four beautiful ladies working here. Where are the others?"

Anna and Lily exchanged knowing looks, realizing the men's true intentions. They weren't here for the drinks but to meet the rumored beauties of "Small Opportunities."

Anna found the situation amusing rather than annoying. She smiled and said, "You're in luck. We do have some lovely ladies, but they're busy right now. Don't worry, we'll bring you our best drinks and desserts."

The men started looking around, trying to spot the famous beauties.

Just then, Bella emerged from the kitchen with a tray of freshly made drinks and desserts, placing them on the table with a smile. "These are our specialties. Enjoy."

She returned to the kitchen, and one of the men couldn't take his eyes off her.

Anna noticed and chuckled to herself, thinking how disappointed he'd be to learn Bella was married.

"Can I get Bella's number?" the fair-skinned man asked Anna.

Anna was surprised. "Wow, you even found out her name. But..."

"She's married, no chance," Lily interrupted coldly.

The man's face fell, but he persisted, "You all look so young. I thought..."

Lily didn't explain, just nudged Anna, who cut him off. "You thought we weren't married? Age isn't the only factor in marriage."

The men got the hint and, after paying, left "Small Opportunities."

Watching them leave, Anna couldn't help but say to Lily, "Why were you so cold to them? Maybe they just wanted to be friends."

Lily replied calmly, "I don't like making friends with ulterior motives. If they really like our drinks and desserts, they'll come back. And I don't give my personal number to strangers."

Anna went to the kitchen and relayed the incident to Bella, who laughed. "Don't tease me. I doubt he was that interested. Maybe he was just curious about the kitchen."
