Chapter 407 Breakfast

Qiana was clearly stunned by the sudden news on the other end of the phone. She paused for a few seconds, trying to process the information. Then, with a hint of awkwardness, she said, "Alright, just take good care of her and bring her back in the morning."

Colin sensed Anna's anger but chose to ignore it. Instead, he looked at her with gentle eyes and continued speaking into the phone, "Don't worry, I'll take good care of her. She'll be back home tomorrow morning, refreshed."

Anna was fuming beside him, clenching her teeth in frustration. She wished she could disappear into a hole. She knew that tonight's events had gone far beyond her expectations, and Colin's behavior left her feeling completely out of her depth.

Early the next morning, Colin had to get up early for a company meeting. Despite Anna's reluctance, she knew she had to get up too. After all, catching a ride with him was much more convenient than calling a cab, and she could get home to rest sooner.

Throughout the ride, Anna was in a half-asleep state, dozing off repeatedly. Last night, Colin's "stamina" had kept her awake almost all night, and now she understood why he had such a reputation. He certainly had the energy to back it up.

When the car finally stopped in front of her apartment building, Colin kindly opened the door for her and said softly, "Sweetie, I'll pick you up after work for dinner." His tone was filled with affection and anticipation.

Although Anna was still angry, she was too exhausted to argue. She shot him a weak glare and awkwardly got out of the car. She really needed to rest and recharge.

Colin watched her tired figure and felt a pang of guilt, but he couldn't help but joke, "Need me to carry you upstairs?"

This earned him a sharp, dagger-like look from Anna. Her eyes were full of warning and displeasure, but Colin's smile only grew brighter. He seemed to enjoy this dynamic with Anna, even when she was mad.

In the end, Anna ignored Colin's joke and stumbled towards her apartment. Colin stood by the car, watching her until she disappeared into the building before driving away.

Meanwhile, Bella woke up in the soft morning light, moving with a practiced grace that suggested she was used to such mornings. She went into the kitchen and prepared a simple bowl of noodles for Sterling, placing it gently on the table before leaving without a word.

Bella still felt a bit wary and distant about Sterling's sudden appearance and overnight stay.

Sterling heard the door close from the bedroom and knew Bella had left. He slowly sat up, assessing his condition. The idiot driver from last night had injured him, but thankfully, it was just superficial wounds. He gently rubbed the sore spots before heading to the table.

Seeing the steaming bowl of noodles, Sterling smiled slightly. Even though Bella hadn't said anything, the noodles showed her care and concern. He picked up the utensils and quietly savored the meal, feeling the warmth in each bite.

However, Sterling knew Bella's attitude towards him remained cold and distant. He wasn't sure if he could break through this barrier.

The noodles weren't particularly impressive, even a bit bland, but to him, they tasted like home—Bella's unique touch. He chewed slowly, each bite bringing back memories.

Halfway through his meal, Owen's call came in. Sterling answered.

"Mr. Windsor, everything is ready. Mrs. Windsor hasn't contacted me or Zoey, and even if she does, we won't answer. Rest assured."

"Good. Keep monitoring Mrs. Windsor's movements and report any updates to me immediately," Sterling instructed, his tone firm and authoritative.

"Yes, Mr. Windsor. We'll keep a close watch on Mrs. Windsor and ensure her safety," Owen replied.

After hanging up, Sterling continued eating, but his thoughts were elsewhere.

After breakfast, Sterling instructed his men to bring his laptop. He planned to act as if he could barely take care of himself in the coming days, using it as an excuse to stay close to Bella.

Although the plan was Colin's idea, Sterling had initially found it unreliable and even absurd. But since he had decided to try, he had no choice but to go through with it.

Sterling knew the key to the plan was convincing Bella that he genuinely needed care, not that he was causing trouble or playing games. He had to be convincing enough to make Bella lower her guard and doubts.

At the shop, Bella moved like a soulless puppet, mechanically repeating her tasks, each motion devoid of spirit. Her eyes were empty and lost, her thoughts seemingly far away.

Isadora noticed her unusual behavior and asked with concern, "Should we hire someone else? You look exhausted and out of it."

Bella shook her head slightly, forcing a weak smile. "We have enough staff for now. It's tiring, but manageable. But Isadora, I have something on my mind that's really bothering me, and I don't know how to talk about it."

Bella's voice trembled, revealing her inner struggle and unease. Seeing this, Isadora immediately put down her work and walked over to Bella, gently patting her shoulder. "What's wrong? You can tell me anything. We're good friends, remember?"

Bella sighed, a flicker of hesitation in her eyes. She knew that after Anna left, Isadora was one of her closest friends and confidants, her only support in this city.
