Chapter 100 The Hospital on a Rainy Night

Bella wanted to scream at Sterling, but the pain in her stomach was getting worse. Holding back, she just said, "Sterling, you're gonna regret this."

When she grabbed her raincoat to head out, Sterling snapped, "No raincoat."

Bella glanced at the pouring rain outside, knowing that Sterling was deliberately torturing her. She held back her anger and tossed the raincoat aside. "Fine, no raincoat."

Bella stepped out into the rain, but once she was outside, she saw the pool was empty, the drainage system was working.

When she tried to go back inside, she found the door locked. Bella was mad but also found it a bit funny. Sterling didn't want her to clean the pool; he just wanted her out of the house.

Bella looked at the locked door and suddenly felt a sense of relief. She was free, at least for tonight.

She ran out without a second thought. Tonight, she was free, even though the wind was howling and the rain was pouring. She was drenched, and her vision started to blur.

Bella felt her strength fading, her lower abdomen throbbing with pain, and a warm, wet sensation spreading below. She instinctively placed her hand on her lower abdomen. The pain got worse. Bella thought to herself, 'Baby, are you watching mommy from heaven?'

Bella wondered if the baby was angry because Sterling was torturing her.

Her vision blurred even more as she walked in the rain. The darkness of the night swallowed everything, and the heavy rain seemed to seep into her soul.

Bella finally couldn't hold on and knelt on the ground. But she was still close to The Windsor Villa. She had to escape. She stood up and moved forward step by step.

Eventually, she couldn't hold on any longer and took out her phone. Luckily, her clothes had pockets.

Bella called Anna, hoping Anna would come to pick her up. Anna was her last hope.

She sat on a bench, waiting quietly. The pain in her lower abdomen was almost making her pass out.

She glanced at the ground, seeing a pool of crimson. She was bleeding, but she was confused. Why was she bleeding?

Her consciousness grew fainter. She didn't know how long she waited, but she saw Anna running towards her frantically. A faint smile appeared on her lips.

In the cold, rain-soaked night, she found comfort in seeing someone rushing towards her. Anna, ditching her umbrella, sprinted to her side.

Bella closed her eyes and collapsed on the bench, letting the bright red blood flow and mix with the rainwater at her feet.

Bella heard Anna's anxious calls and cries. She barely opened her eyes and said a few last words to Anna.

Bella knew Anna was trying hard to carry her. She wanted to ask why Anna didn't call for an ambulance, but she had no strength to speak.

Anna, exhausted, struggled to carry her. Suddenly, Anna lost her grip, and Bella fell into the ground. Bella couldn't feel the pain anymore. Was she going to die?

Before Bella completely lost consciousness, she saw Anna's tearful eyes. She wanted to tell Anna not to be afraid, but she couldn't speak anymore.

Zoey watched as Sterling kicked Bella out. She didn't know what to say.

After a while, Zoey couldn't hold back and said, "Mr. Windsor, Mrs. Windsor's been out for a long time. Should we go look for her? It's pouring out there."

Zoey was worried something might happen.

But Sterling coldly replied, "No, she won't get into any trouble."

Zoey felt helpless. Why were Bella and Sterling both so stubborn?

Then, an urgent phone call shattered the silence of the empty room.

"Sterling, where are you? Come quick, Bella's in the hospital. She's bleeding badly. She's gonna die. Sterling, you need to sign. The doctor won't let me sign." It was Anna's voice.

Anna was so panicked that she was almost incoherent, but there was no sound from the other end of the line.

Anna thought she had dialed the wrong number. She looked at her phone in despair and repeated, "Sterling, are you there? Come quick. Bella..."

After what felt like forever, Anna finally heard a voice, calm yet panicked.

"Give the phone to the doctor. I'll talk to them." Anna finally heard Sterling's voice.

Anna handed the phone to the doctor.

"This is Sterling. The patient is my wife. Do whatever it takes to keep her alive until I get there to sign the papers. I guarantee with the Windsor Group that as long as there are no accidents, I won't cause trouble for the hospital without my signature. So, please, save her. I'm on my way."

Hearing it was Sterling, the doctor was momentarily surprised but hesitant. Before he could speak, Sterling hung up. The doctor decided to save Bella's life first. If anything went wrong, he believed Sterling could make the entire hospital disappear from the city.

Anna sat in the hallway, crying uncontrollably. Her trembling hands wouldn't stop. She couldn't believe what had happened tonight, nor could she imagine what would happen if she didn't call Sterling and didn't have the money to pay for the medical bills.

Sterling finally appeared at the operating room door 20 minutes later. Anna didn't know what had happened between them, but seeing Sterling now, she was angry, though it wasn't the time to show it.

Sterling saw Anna and immediately asked, "Where do I sign?"

Anna handed him the surgery consent form left by the doctor. She saw Sterling's trembling hands and his eyes, which were tinged with redness. She also saw the crooked, ugly signature on the form.

Anna realized that even the always calm, arrogant, and domineering Sterling could be scared.

Sterling asked one last question, "Did the doctor say why she was bleeding so much?"

Before Anna could speak, the doctor came out. Sterling immediately handed the consent form to the doctor.

The surgeon said, "She had a miscarriage less than a month ago and has been physically exhausted. Why was she out in the rain tonight? She was soaked when she arrived. What happened? Her body was already weak, and the physical exhaustion compounded by the rain led to severe bleeding."

Sterling listened to the doctor and slumped into a chair, his hair wet from the rain. He looked disheveled.

"Thank you. Just save her. As long as she's alive, that's all that matters." He covered his face with his hands, head bowed. He just wanted her to give in, to say she was wrong. Why did she have to fight him to the end?
