Chapter 226 Blair

When Bella heard the news, she was shocked. She didn't expect Sterling to act so quickly.

But then again, it made sense. There were very few people who could threaten Sterling and get away with it, especially someone like Derek, whom Sterling despised, trying to extort him.

Bella never had a good impression of Derek, so even if Sterling used some unscrupulous means to send him to prison, Bella wouldn't think it was inappropriate.

Moreover, he was a scumbag to begin with.

Sterling's grandfather, Brody Windsor, had three brothers in total.

Brody was the eldest, with two younger brothers below him. Derek was the son of Brody's brother.

Back then, Derek tortured his mother's young niece to death, causing a huge uproar in his mother's family.

When Brody was still the head of the family, to appease the anger of Derek's mother's side of the family, he had to send Derek to prison.

Eventually, he couldn't withstand the pleas from Derek's family and only kept him in prison for a few years.

Unexpectedly, Derek did not reform after his release.

In the end, Derek angered everyone and was expelled from the Windsor family. Since then, Derek's family declined, leaving only Brody, Sterling's direct lineage.

But the Windsor family had many distant relatives who all depended on the Windsor Group for their livelihood.

After Sterling's father passed away, Sterling naturally took over as the head of the family.

Now, besides Sterling, the only surviving brother of Brody was Anson Windsor, whose son Blair Windsor was the most respected elder in the Windsor family.

As the head of the family, Sterling was only responsible for major decisions, while the daily trivial matters were handled by Blair and his team.

When Sterling's parents passed away, all family affairs were handled by Blair and his team, as Sterling had to manage the Windsor Group and couldn't spare the energy for family matters.

Sterling barely had enough time to eat, sleep, and rest, but Blair somehow heard about Derek's arrest and imprisonment.

So today, Blair and his team aggressively arrived at the Windsor Group's entrance, and they were stopped by Sable at Sterling's office door.

"Excuse me, Mr. Blair Windsor, please wait a moment. I'll inform Mr. Sterling Windsor. Mr. Sterling Windsor's office cannot be entered without permission," Sable said in a formal tone.

Sterling suddenly opened the door and said, "Let Blair in."

Only then did Sable let them in.

Blair, already in his 60s, was well-maintained and still robust.

Blair immediately entered, his face very grim. He was about to lose his temper at Sterling, but Sterling signaled the secretary to close the door.

Before Blair could speak, Sterling calmly asked, "What's the matter that you had to come to the company to find me?"

Blair didn't want to waste words with Sterling and directly said, "Sterling, I'm here to ask you what you did at the Windsor Villa a few days ago?"

Sterling's expression remained unchanged as he said, "So you're here to hold me accountable. What? Blair, are you also here for that scumbag?"

Blair's appearance was very similar to Brody's, but his temper was even more volatile.

At least Brody would be a bit amiable in front of others, while Blair had been hot-tempered since he was young.

Blair stared at Sterling and said, "Since you took over as the head of the family, you've done everything well, and the group is managed excellently. Everyone praises you as the most qualified head of the Windsor family in history. But this time, the way you handled Derek's matter, don't forget you're just a junior."

Sterling sneered, "Blair, you just praised me as the most qualified head of the family in history, and now you're calling me a junior. Blair, your words are contradictory. How do you want me to respond?

He continued, "Blair, have you forgotten that Derek was expelled from the Windsor family by Grandpa? And his father didn't say anything back then. So now, are we bringing up old matters again?"

Blair immediately glared and said, "Listen to what you're saying. He is still a member of the Windsor family. No matter how big the grudge, it should have been resolved by now. This time he came back, and none of you informed me. Instead, you sent him to prison. You really don't want to cover up the Windsor family's scandals, do you?"

Sterling's expression turned cold, "So should I let him extort me? Blair, if you have money, you can give it to him, but the money I earn is not easy. If you insist on holding onto this matter, I have nothing more to say. If you feel sorry for him, you can go to the police station to solve his problem and invite him to live at your house, showing your kindness."

Blair was so angry at Sterling's words that his face flushed, and he kept tapping his cane on the soft carpet.

"Sterling, you're becoming more and more like your father. Fine, very well, Derek was right. When it comes to being ruthless, I really can't compare to you and your father."

Then Blair snorted heavily, suppressing his anger, "Sterling, don't think that just because you're the head of the family, you can do whatever you want. You should know that your position was chosen by everyone. If you act recklessly and arbitrarily, you'll lose people's support. Even if you're the head of the family, so what? Don't forget you're a junior. Are you disregarding us elders by questioning your uncle?"

Sterling sat in his office chair with his legs crossed, unmoved, turning the ring on his thumb.

He was actually very good at handling such matters, usually by appeasing a few words and giving out some shares.

He had high emotional intelligence and understood people's hearts, having many ways to make these elders who thought they were superior because of their age shut up.

But now he suddenly didn't want to be nice to them.

Thinking about the potential future troubles, he suddenly felt that it might not be a bad idea to intimidate these greedy elders.

Sterling calmly said, "Are you planning to depose me as the head of the family?"

Blair said with a cold face, "Even if we deposed you as the head of the family, it would be easy."

These words were serious. The people present were relatives of the Windsor family and close to Sterling. Hearing this, their faces changed.

Sterling, however, smiled indifferently, "Blair, did you get something wrong?"

Sterling stood up and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window.

Outside the glass curtain wall, a dark cloud just covered the sun, dimming the light.

His figure was blurred, his expression unclear, but Sterling's overly superior height and innate aura naturally gave off a king's deterrent.

"My status and power are not granted by the family. On the contrary, it is I who have given the Windsor family its status and power in Harborvale. With me, the family flourishes. Without me, what is the Windsor family?"
