Chapter 260 Good Friend
When Anna got back to the campsite, she saw Lisa practically glued to Colin, trying to feed him every now and then, but Colin kept dodging her.
Anna felt a twinge of frustration, but the cool night breeze helped clear her head. She took a deep breath to calm down.
Why get mad? Who Colin liked and how much he liked them really wasn't her business.
Anna couldn't figure out why she was so upset. Maybe it was all because of Colin.
Once she realized that, she decided not to let Lisa get to her anymore. She focused on eating and drinking, chatting with Bella here and there, and the mood gradually lightened.
Late at night, the world was quiet except for the occasional rustle of leaves and the sound of the stream flowing through the valley.
Anna and Bella squeezed into a small tent, listening to the symphony of nature and chatting softly.
"Surprised Sterling let you bunk with me. Isn't he usually stuck to you like glue?" Anna teased Bella.
Bella shot Anna a look. "You just say whatever, don't you? Just go to sleep."
"Getting defensive, huh? Looks like Mr. Windsor didn't satisfy you, or you didn't satisfy him. I saw the way he looked at you tonight, like he wanted to eat you up," Anna said with a mischievous grin.
Bella blushed in the darkness. "Anna, if you keep talking, I'm not gonna speak to you anymore."
Sterling had insisted on sleeping with her, but she knew the tent wasn't soundproof. She couldn't risk making any strange noises in front of everyone, so she firmly refused him.
As they chatted, Anna suddenly sat up and peeked towards Colin's tent.
The light was still on inside Colin's tent, and through the thin fabric, she could see shadows moving.
Lisa was in there too, and their shadows didn't overlap, suggesting they were just chatting.
Anna was curious about their conversation but didn't feel like gossiping.
Bella noticed Anna's thoughts and chuckled. "Everyone's here. They wouldn't lose control now, would they? Don't overthink it. The sun will rise in less than four hours. We shouldn't sleep or we'll miss the beautiful sunrise."
Anna agreed she was being overly sensitive. She nodded and said, "Alright, I'll check if the charcoal in the grill is still burning. Let's cook something."
She crawled out of the tent and headed to the grill.
Bella followed, and they started preparing food and tools together.
In the dim light, their figures looked particularly warm and harmonious. Anna struggled with the charcoal, which seemed to be under a spell, refusing to ignite and even extinguishing the few sparks left.
Anna's face and hands were covered in soot, making her look a bit disheveled.
Seeing Bella's eager eyes on the grill, Anna sighed and decided to ask Colin for help.
Anna walked over to Colin's tent, cleared her throat, and called out, "Hey, chef, come cook something. Bella's starving."
As soon as the words left her mouth, she realized they might not have been the best choice, but it was too late to take them back.
Colin heard her, lifted the tent flap, and stepped out. He saw Anna and Bella's soot-covered faces and sighed.
Camping seemed to have made him the go-to guy for taking care of everyone, handling all the food and necessities.
Colin walked to the grill and started expertly handling the charcoal.
Meanwhile, through the half-open tent flap, Bella and Anna saw Lisa inside, getting dressed.
Their mouths formed perfect "O"s, not because of Lisa's figure, but because they hadn't expected to stumble upon such a scene.
Lisa and Colin hadn't shown any intimate behavior earlier. Had something happened between them?
Lisa didn't seem fazed by their surprised looks. She calmly finished dressing, tidied her hair, and walked out with a faint smile, as if to say, "It's no big deal."
Anna, usually tough, was still an inexperienced girl. She blushed and didn't know how to react, lowering her head in embarrassment.
When Colin finished grilling the first batch of skewers, they were glistening with oil and smelled delicious, drawing everyone's attention.
Lisa couldn't hold back her hunger and gracefully reached for a skewer, taking a bite and smiling contentedly.
"I was really hungry. Colin, could you use less chili? It makes me break out, and I have a lot of ads to shoot soon. I can't afford to have bad skin."
Lisa's voice was soft and slightly coquettish, making Anna shiver with discomfort.
Anna frowned and muttered to herself, "What's with Lisa? Why does she always act so coy? It sounds weird, like she's trying to be cute. But I don't see anything cute about her, just fake."
Bella suddenly broke the silence. She stared at the sizzling, fragrant skewers on the grill and said firmly, "Put extra chili on mine. I love spicy food."
Bella's voice wasn't loud, but it carried an undeniable authority, like she was giving Colin an order he couldn't refuse.
Anna's heart filled with joy. She glanced at Bella and saw a fierce determination in her usually gentle friend's eyes, standing up for the injustice she felt.
Anna thought, 'Bella isn't someone to mess with. She can stand up for her friends when it counts.'
Lisa, however, didn't seem to care about Bella's words. She just glanced at Bella, smirked, and stayed silent.
After all, Bella was Sterling's wife, with a high status and influence. Lisa wouldn't dare offend her easily.
In this circle, offending any powerful party could bring unforeseen trouble.
