Chapter 163 Why Are You Avoiding Me?

Bella nodded and said, "Yeah, I was wondering why Moran Hill looks so amazing. Turns out it's all thanks to the Windsor Group."

Then she turned to Sterling and said, "How about we move to Whitewater Bay?"

Sterling smiled, ruffled her hair, and said, "I suggested that last time, but you weren't into it."

"Well, it's just that we've lived in the current house for so many years—I guess I got attached. Plus, I thought you wouldn't be up for it," Bella said softly.

Sterling chuckled, "Why wouldn't I be? If you want to, then it's all good."

They were chatting away, and the vibe was just right. Sterling and Micah were also talking business, and since the overseas issues were still hanging, they had taken some time to come to Moran Hill tonight.

Bella wasn't sure if Sterling had sorted out his company's issues, and she wanted to ask. But seeing him in such a good mood, she decided to let it go.

Colin and Micah didn't bring it up either, figuring it wasn't the right time to talk shop in front of Bella. The group kept drinking and chatting, having a great time.

Anna occasionally glanced over, noticing Colin staring at her. She quickly looked down, panicking and yelping in pain. The butler immediately handed her a tissue, "Ms. Powell, you should sit over there. I'll handle the grilling."

Anna had been splashed by oil from the grill, and it hurt, but she didn't want to go near where Colin was sitting. "No need, I'll help you grill. I just love grilling."

Anna was arguing with the butler when Colin suddenly appeared, took the skewer from her hand, and placed it on the grill.

"You shouldn't take the butler's job. Let me see your hand," Colin's voice sounded in Anna's ear, making her scalp tingle. She thought, 'Why can't Colin leave me alone for a moment?'

Anna immediately said, "Mr. Rivera, I'm fine. It's just a blister."

Without thinking, Colin pulled Anna towards the villa, causing her to stumble. "What are you doing?" she asked.

Colin didn't respond, his face calm as he led Anna to the kitchen, turned on the faucet, and rinsed her burned hand.

They were silent for a moment, the only sound being the running water in the quiet villa.

Anna felt a bit awkward; this scene seemed familiar. She remembered a time at Colin's house when he had also held her hand under the faucet while cooking.

Suddenly, she snapped out of it, pulled her hand back, and said, "It's fine now. I'll be going."

Colin suddenly called her from behind, "Anna."

Anna turned around as if frozen, "What?"

Colin, hands in his pockets, walked towards her step by step. Anna instinctively took a step back, and for every step she took back, Colin took one forward.

Finally, Anna had nowhere to retreat, her body blocked by the table behind her. She pressed against the table, warily watching Colin approach, "If you have something to say, just say it. Don't come so close."

Colin had noticed Anna dodging him lately. He couldn't figure out why she felt the need to distance herself. Sure, there had been some online rumors, but that hardly seemed like a valid reason for her to avoid him. He asked, "Why are you avoiding me?"

Anna immediately got defensive, "When did I avoid you? I just think we need to keep our distance, got it?"

Colin smirked, "Keep our distance? Did we do something wrong? Or is it you who did something wrong?"

Anna felt frustrated. She didn't believe Colin could play dumb forever. She pushed against his chest with both hands, "Colin, stop pretending. It was me who made the news, not you. Not a single word mentioned you, so of course, you don't care. But I was publicly shamed. Do you think I still dare to appear in public with you?"

Colin sighed, "I didn't handle that well, and I apologize. But that's not a reason for you to avoid me."

Anna pushed Colin away, trying to put some space between them. She continued, "You even said you broke off your engagement because of this. Shouldn't you keep your distance from me? What if you lose another fiancée? I can't bear such a big accusation."

Colin looked at her, unsure of what he was thinking. He said, "Is that really the only reason you want to keep your distance from me?" He didn't believe it.

Anna said, "Of course, what else could it be?"

As soon as Anna finished speaking, Colin reached out and pulled her back, trapping her between the table and his arms again.

Colin stared into Anna's eyes for a few seconds, and before she could react, he lifted her onto the table.

This time, Colin didn't give Anna any room to escape. He stood between her legs, holding her waist, and pressed her head closer to him, "Anna, are you sure it's just because of that?"

Anna was so flustered by Colin's actions that she couldn't react. Hearing his question, she angrily struggled to break free, "Colin, let me go."

Colin suddenly twisted her arms behind her back, holding her wrists with one hand, forcing Anna to face him.

Anna felt the atmosphere between them was really strange. After a couple of seconds, she still wanted to struggle, but Colin held her waist tightly, "Anna, answer me."

Anna's face flushed with anger, "Yes, what else? You're the heir to the Rivera family, and I'm just an ordinary office worker. You've already caused me enough trouble with the last incident. What more do you want? I've realized that we can't be together. Whenever we are, something bad happens. So, let's keep our distance. Otherwise, which socialite would dare marry you?"

Hearing this, Colin suddenly became furious. He gripped Anna's waist tightly, pulling her closer, "Anna, do you really want me to marry those socialites? What if I don't?"

Anna was in so much pain from his grip that it felt like her insides were hurting. "Stop being a jerk. Let me go. Who you marry has nothing to do with me."
