Chapter 59 Sterling's Brother
Bella nearly jumped out of her skin when she saw Sterling's eyes open. She couldn't tell if he'd been awake the whole time or just woke up.
"What are you doing?" Sterling asked, his voice flat as a pancake.
Bella figured he wasn't mad, just groggy. "I couldn't sleep. It felt super late, so I grabbed your phone to check the time," she mumbled, feeling a bit guilty.
Sterling just stared at her, like he was trying to figure out if she was lying.
After what felt like forever, Sterling said, "If you can't sleep, maybe you're not tired enough. I can help with that."
Bella shivered as Sterling's hand slipped inside her pajamas, his fingers gently brushing her skin, sending little shivers up her spine.
Her mind flashed back to that night when Sterling had a fever, and they had their first real moment together.
Sterling's hand moved up from her belly, heading straight for her breast.
Bella's breathing got all ragged, and her heart was pounding like crazy.
Sterling pressed his body against hers, his breath heavy and hot.
Just as his other hand was about to slide into her pants, Bella felt a sharp pain in her lower abdomen.
She clutched her stomach and cried out, making Sterling stop dead in his tracks.
"Is your stomach acting up again?" he asked.
Bella shook her head, whispering, "Maybe it's just my period being late."
Sterling was quiet for a moment before lying back down. This time, he didn't touch her.
Bella bit her lip, confused and worried. Lately, she'd been having these weird stomach pains. She figured it was her period, but it hadn't shown up yet.
'Is something wrong with me? Maybe I should see a doctor,' she thought. She'd heard stress could mess with her cycle, and she'd been stressing about Anna a lot lately.
With thoughts of Anna swirling in her head, Bella finally drifted off to sleep. But someone else was wide awake because of her.
Debra was in her room, throwing a fit and smashing stuff.
Hearing the racket, Mira rushed upstairs and found the place trashed.
"What the hell happened? Why are you so pissed?" Mira asked, frowning.
Debra screamed, "It's that bitch Bella! She used Sterling's phone to show off that she's sleeping with him. I'm losing my mind!"
Mira snapped, "Bella's your sister. I don't want to hear you talk about her like that."
Debra's anger exploded. "I'm your daughter too! Why are you always taking her side?"
Mira narrowed her eyes, her voice icy. "I've raised you for over 20 years, but I've only had Bella for a few. Consider it my way of making it up to her."
"You wronged her, not me! Why should I follow your wishes? If you feel guilty, go make Bella your daughter. I'm done being yours," Debra shouted before storming out of the room and the villa.
Mira sighed and told the bodyguards to keep an eye on Debra and make sure she wouldn't get into any trouble.
The next morning, when Bella woke up, Sterling told her to change into a new outfit.
While fixing his tie in front of the mirror, Sterling said, "My dad's best friend heard you're in town and wants to meet you."
Knowing she was about to meet someone important, Bella quickly got up to wash and dress.
At a big golf course, Sterling smacked a golf ball with a lot of force. An older man with graying hair standing behind him clapped.
"Your stance is just like your dad's, but your skills are way better," Xavier Getty said with a smile, taking the golf club from his assistant.
Xavier was the elder Sterling wanted her to meet, a tough-looking guy.
Bella stood behind them, having already greeted Xavier. It was her first time in such a fancy setting, and she felt a bit out of place, so she just stood there quietly.
"Alright, you two don't need to babysit me anymore. Let's go have lunch," Xavier said with a smile, leading Bella and Sterling to the reception hall where a fancy lunch was set up.
"It's a shame I missed your wedding. Seeing you two get married would have made your dad so happy," Xavier said, sipping his wine with a nostalgic look, his eyes getting a bit misty.
Bella glanced at Sterling, feeling awkward because they hadn't actually had a wedding.
Maybe seeing Sterling reminded Xavier of his old friend, and he drank a lot, soon getting pretty drunk.
"Sterling, did you know you have a brother?" Xavier said, slurring a bit, pointing at Sterling with a laugh.
Sterling and Bella were both shocked. They had no idea.
Sterling frowned and said, "Uncle Xavier, are you sure? I don't have a brother."
Xavier waved his hand and said, "No, I'm not mistaken. To be precise, your dad had an illegitimate son. Haven't they ever contacted you?"
Sterling shook his head, clearly clueless about this.
Bella, having lived in the Windsor Villa for years, had never heard anyone mention this. She was sure Sterling didn't have a brother and wondered if Xavier was just talking nonsense because he was drunk.
"Think I'm lying 'cause I'm drunk?" Xavier laughed, pointing at his nose.
"I'm telling you, I never lie, and I'm not drunk," Xavier said, trying to stand up but ended up flopping back into the chair, his head resting on the back as he passed out.
Sterling and Bella quickly stood up to check on Xavier and found that he was asleep, both of them breathing a sigh of relief.
"Do you really have a brother?" Bella asked, curious.
