Chapter 273 Hostage

Derek stood at the back door, and just before Ryan and his men could grab them, he shoved one of his lackeys forward to block their path and then turned to sprint back into the Windsor Villa.

Meanwhile, Tobias approached the door of the east wing where Sterling was staying and knocked. "Sterling, Sterling."

Sterling quickly opened the door, still dressed in his black shirt and trousers, clearly not intending to sleep anytime soon.

Sterling stood at the door and asked, "Why are you still up so late?"

Tobias tried to sound as natural as possible. "Blair just noticed a burglar in the house. I was worried you might be in danger, so I came to check on you."

Sterling's tone was emotionless. "A burglar? Everything's quiet over here, nothing unusual."

Tobias sighed in relief. "Good, that's good."

"But it's quite bold for a burglar to break in while the owners are home. There must be an inside man. Interesting." Sterling stepped out of his room.

"I'll go with you to see what kind of burglar dares to steal from under our noses."

Tobias felt there was a hidden meaning in Sterling's words, as if the burglar was a metaphor for them, doing things right under his nose.

Tobias's face turned pale. "Sterling, I don't think that's necessary. If you get hurt, the Windsor family will have no one to lead. You should stay in your room until it's safe."

"No worries, just taking a look." Sterling opened a black umbrella, then turned back to Tobias with a slight smile. "You care too much about me. You didn't even bring an umbrella and came out in the rain. You must have been in a hurry."

Tobias's lips trembled, but before he could respond, Sterling had already started walking. Tobias quickly followed.

Just then, Derek came running, stumbling and shouting, "Uncle Tobias, we've been tricked! They made us bring the stuff out, and Ryan was waiting at the back door to catch us. We've been exposed!"

Tobias looked at Sterling in terror. Sterling held the umbrella calmly, the raindrops pattering on it.

His expression remained unchanged, exuding the aura of someone in power who viewed others as insignificant, holding life and death in his hands.

This made the 80-year-old Tobias tremble like a leaf.

Sterling spoke slowly, "I always thought you were just into gardening. I didn't expect you to be so bold, hiding drugs in the house and even welcoming us in. It seems the people backing you are quite capable. Tell me, who wants to drag the Windsor family into the abyss?"

Tobias saw the impending downfall of the Windsor family in Sterling's words. He regretted it deeply.

His lifelong obsession was to climb the social ladder. But now, nearing the end of his life, he had been deceived by the younger generation.

Now, being exposed by Sterling, he had no buffer. He couldn't accept it. Tobias's eyes turned fierce, and he suddenly drew a short knife from his cane, thrusting it towards Sterling.

"Sterling, even if I die, you'll die with us. Anyone can lead the Windsor family, except you."

Sterling didn't even flinch. The knife was inches away when a gust of wind from behind sent Tobias flying with a kick.

Tobias landed heavily, screaming in pain. Colin had appeared out of nowhere. He stood beside Sterling, slightly raising his chin as if to show off his impressive move.

With Colin's strength, he could easily take on ten bodyguards.

Sterling said gently, "Colin, go easy on him. He's 80 years old."

Colin replied indifferently, "You still care if he dies? Don't forget, there are two more people we can interrogate."

Sterling said, "I mean, we should respect the elderly and care for the young."

Colin glanced at Sterling, not understanding why he was pretending to be merciful at this moment.

Sterling looked at the man on the ground and asked, "Has he arrived?"

Colin nodded. "Yes, he's here."

Sterling said, "You know what to do."

Tobias took a while to recover, realizing from their casual conversation that they saw him as nothing more than bait to lure out the real target.

Colin signaled his men to capture Tobias. As they approached, Tobias wildly swung his knife. "Stay back, stay back!"

No one knew where an 80-year-old man got such strength, slashing wildly with the knife.

Derek suddenly ran over to support the frenzied Tobias. "Uncle Tobias, Uncle Tobias, let's go."

Sterling and Colin watched coldly as Tobias and Derek struggled like cornered beasts, retreating step by step.

Sterling and Colin, one holding an umbrella, the other wearing a hood, casually closed in.

"Where do you think you can escape to now?" Sterling asked calmly.

"And what if he joins us?" A ghostly voice suddenly echoed in the night.

Sterling and Colin turned towards the voice and saw Caleb, holding Bella hostage, stepping into view.

Caleb pressed a gun to Bella's temple, his arm like a steel vice around her neck.

Earlier, Bella and Anna had been running towards the east wing when they were spotted by a man in black. They had to split up, but Bella had the misfortune of running into Caleb.

Bella thought Caleb must have seen her and followed her. Did he not see Anna too?

Derek and Tobias, thinking they were safe, retreated behind Caleb, catching their breath.

Caleb shouted, "Don't come any closer, or I'll shoot her."

Sterling immediately raised his hand, signaling the bodyguards to stop, his eyes cold.

It took Bella a moment to realize she was being held hostage.

Seeing Sterling, she felt reassured. Even with a gun to her head, she knew Sterling would save her.

Bella clenched her fists, trying to calm herself. She spoke to Caleb behind her. "Did you know Anna is here tonight too?"

Caleb hesitated for a second. "What did you say?"

Bella said, "You didn't see Anna with me earlier? We got separated, but she should be here soon. Are you sure you want to hold me hostage?"
