Chapter 198 Do Me a Favor
Then Anna suddenly looked at Colin and said, "I have a question for you."
Colin raised an eyebrow, signaling Anna to continue.
"If your ex-girlfriend suddenly gave you a gift, but you didn't want it and ended up losing it, what would you do?"
Colin looked at Anna, speechless for a moment. What kind of silly question was that? He said helplessly, "Is this really worth sighing about all morning?"
Anna glared at him, and Colin immediately laughed, "Why not just buy another one and give it back to her?"
Anna realized there was no useful advice in his response. She knew she shouldn't have asked Colin; he was so rich, why would he care about a gift?
Anna thought that if she had money, she would have already returned the necklace to Caleb. Why would she be sighing here?
Colin also picked up on the key information from Anna's words. His face darkened instantly as he said, "Your ex-boyfriend gave you a gift?"
Anna, who couldn't keep secrets, now saw Colin as someone she could share secrets with. Without thinking, she said, "How did you know?"
Colin didn't expect to guess correctly. His grip on the pen tightened as he suppressed his anger and said, "Your ex-boyfriend gave you something, and you lost it?"
Anna didn't notice Colin's expression and thought for a moment before saying, "I didn't lose it; my mom took it. But seeing how my mom is, she probably won't give it back. What should I do? I want to return it to him."
Colin thought for a moment and suddenly asked, "Is your boyfriend Caleb?"
Anna looked at Colin in shock and said, "How did you know? How do you know everything?"
Colin sneered, "When you were dating him, who wouldn't know?"
Anna's mouth twitched. Did she really make it that obvious?
Colin continued to ask, "What did he give you that's making you so worried?"
Anna sighed and said, "A star-themed diamond necklace. I really don't want to accept his gift. He sent it to my house, and my mom took it. I really don't know what to do."
Colin thought for a moment, a calculating look in his eyes. "I'll help you solve this problem if you do me a favor. How about that?"
Anna looked at Colin warily. "How will you solve it? Are you going to lend me money again? I can't pay it back. I'll figure it out myself."
Colin chuckled lightly and said, "You don't have to pay me back. Do me a favor, and I'll help you return the gift to your ex-boyfriend. How about that?"
Anna still didn't trust Colin, scrutinizing him with suspicion. "What kind of favor is worth the price of a diamond necklace? Do you know how much that necklace costs?"
Colin raised an eyebrow. "What? Is there a necklace I can't afford?"
Anna immediately fell silent. Well, he was a wealthy boss; he could buy as many as he wanted.
Anna still had a trace of doubt. "You won't harm me, will you?"
Colin snorted impatiently, "Why would I harm you? What do you have that's worth harming?"
Anna thought about it and agreed. She had no money; what could Colin possibly harm her for?
"Alright, what do you need me to do?" Anna thought it was better to owe Colin than Caleb.
Seeing Anna agree, Colin immediately said, "Help me arrange a dinner with Caleb."
Anna was stunned, thinking she had misheard. "What? You want to have dinner with Caleb? Do you know him? Why do you want to have dinner with him?"
Colin noted Anna's wariness and overreaction, his face turning cold. "Caleb is a rising star in the business world. I want to discuss some business with him. What's the problem? Just because he's your ex-boyfriend, I can't talk business with him?"
Anna looked at Colin in confusion. She didn't believe him, but seeing his serious expression, she had to suppress her doubts.
"It's just a bit strange, that's all. Alright, when do you want to meet?" Anna had no choice but to agree.
Colin said, "Tomorrow night. And you have to come with me."
Anna was even more incredulous. "I have to go with you? Why do I have to attend a dinner with Caleb?"
Every cell in Anna's body protested; she didn't want to go.
Colin gave her a cold look and said, "Why? Is it strange for you, as my assistant, to accompany me to a dinner?"
Anna didn't know what Colin was planning, but she had to follow his orders.
Before Anna could say anything, Colin added, "And don't wear a dress tomorrow night."
Anna glared at him. "You even want to control what I wear? Why do you care so much?"
Colin glared back. "You dare talk back to me now?"
Anna immediately backed down, putting on a smile.
For the sake of the necklace, Anna called Caleb. After all, it was better to owe Colin than Caleb. She already owed Colin two million dollars; a necklace wouldn't make a difference.
As soon as Anna left, Colin called Sterling. "I have a dinner with Caleb tomorrow night."
Whatever Sterling said on the other end, Colin responded seriously, "Alright."
Colin looked out through the blinds, directly at Anna's desk. A smile played on his lips.
This was getting interesting. Caleb, a rising star in the business world, suddenly returned with a large sum of money to pester his ex-girlfriend Anna.
It seemed normal, but it wasn't, especially since Bella was now staying at Anna's place.
Sterling probably needed to prepare for both possibilities.
Anna went to the cafeteria after lunch hours. She had been thinking about buying some maternity products for Bella, especially since Bella had just spent $46,000 on Qiana. She felt guilty.
Anna was browsing baby products on her phone when Colin suddenly appeared behind her.
He glanced at her phone screen, his expression turning cold. "Who's pregnant? Why are you looking at baby products?"
Anna quickly put her phone away and glared at him. "How can you peek at my phone?"
Colin snorted. "In a public place, what do you mean by 'peek'?"
Colin placed his tray in front of Anna, sat down, and looked at her seriously. "Who's pregnant?"
Anna hesitated for a few seconds, not wanting to betray Bella. She said, "I'm pregnant. Is that a problem?"
Colin's face darkened with anger. Without a word, he stood up and dragged Anna away.
