Chapter 89 Buying Flowers and Raising Cats
Sterling didn't care that they were in a police station. He yelled at Bella, "Bella, don't make me lock you up again."
The cops, scared of Sterling's status, just stood there, not daring to step in.
Debra smirked triumphantly, showing no sign of her earlier fear.
This just made Bella more sure that Owen was being set up.
"You've been locking me up since I was a kid. You think I'm still scared?" Bella shot back at Sterling, not backing down.
Sterling was really pissed. He grabbed Bella and dragged her out.
Bella fought back, but she couldn't break free.
He took her outside, opened the car door, and tried to shove her in. But Bella held onto the car door, glaring at him.
"Bella, you better not have done anything crazy. Otherwise, I might not be able to protect you," Sterling tried to scare her, to make her understand the consequences of going against him.
But Bella suddenly started crying, not just a little, but full-on sobbing, letting out all her frustrations. "Sterling, do you really distrust me that much? You torment me, lock me up. What do I owe you? All you do is bully me."
Sterling was at a loss, feeling a bit hurt and confused. He had never seen Bella cry like this before.
How could he be bullying her? He was trying to protect her, to let her grow up safely under his watch.
But what Sterling didn't get was that this wasn't what Bella wanted.
After crying her heart out, Bella felt a bit embarrassed. She had been so frustrated, and Sterling's words just broke her down.
"Done crying? Can we go home now?" Sterling had already sorted out Owen's situation before Bella showed up and was ready to leave when he saw her rush in.
Debra watched from a distance, seething with hatred, her face twisted.
Why, after everything she had done, did Sterling still go soft on Bella?
Debra had noticed someone following her recently. She hadn't thought much of it until she saw in the rearview mirror yesterday that it was Sterling's butler, Owen.
She thought Sterling suspected her of causing the car accident and panicked. She rushed home to talk to her parents.
She couldn't let Sterling find out, or it would all be over.
Dash wanted to have Owen killed, but Debra changed the plan.
She had someone knock Owen out, put a gun in his hand, and then played the victim.
The whole thing was done perfectly, without a hitch.
Debra told the cops that Owen was acting on Bella's orders to kill her.
That was why Bella got a call from the police station.
Sterling had already bailed her and Owen out before Bella arrived; otherwise, Bella would be in jail now.
Bella didn't know any of this, but Debra did. She had gone to great lengths to frame Bella, only to have Sterling fix it all.
She glared at Bella from a distance, vowing that one day she would make Bella disappear.
After being taken back, Bella stayed silent, her face cold.
Sterling knew she was mad and didn't mind. As long as she didn't mention divorce or leaving, he could put up with all her antics.
As soon as they got home, Sterling got a call from Ryan. The news about Bella hiring a hitman was already all over the headlines, and within an hour, the company's stock had taken a nosedive.
Bella also saw the news on her backup phone and felt a twisted sense of satisfaction. Sterling cared so much about the Windsor Group, so she wanted to hit him where it hurt.
But she totally underestimated the Windsor Group's PR team. They had the whole mess cleaned up in just three hours.
Bella collapsed on her bed, and then Anna called.
"What happened? Did you really try to kill Debra?" Anna asked, her voice low.
Bella snorted, "If it were really me, you'd be bailing me out of jail right now. And it wouldn't be attempted murder; I would have already killed her."
Thinking about the nasty Debra, she did have a moment where she wanted to kill her.
After hanging up with Anna, Bella pulled the blanket over her head, like it was the only way to feel a bit safe.
The pain of losing her child, the gut-wrenching agony, she would make Debra feel it one day.
In this lifetime, she and Debra would fight until one of them was dead. As for Sterling, she was done with him and just wanted to be strangers from now on.
Living in the same house as strangers, Bella meant it. She even asked Anna to bring her a ragdoll cat the next day.
She also ordered a bunch of flowers to be delivered the next day.
Since Sterling wouldn't let her go out, she had to find something to do.
The next day, Zoey watched as workers kept bringing in flowers, her brows furrowed.
Finally, she went to Bella, trying to talk some sense into her, "Mrs. Windsor, what are you doing? You know Mr. Windsor is allergic to pollen."
Bella was clearly stirring up trouble. If Sterling saw this, he might blow a fuse again.
Zoey sighed inwardly.
Bella stood aside, sneering, "I know, but so what? I like flowers. Not only do I like flowers, but I also like cats."
At the mention of cats, Zoey's face changed. Cat fur and pollen were a big no-no in the house.
Just then, Anna walked in with a box. Seeing the yard full of flowers, she thought she had come to the wrong place.
The yard usually only had greenery, no flowers, but today it looked like a flower shop exploded.
"Bella, did you buy these?" Anna handed the box to Bella, asking in disbelief.
Bella nodded and opened the box. A snow-white ragdoll cat stretched out its paw, and her heart melted, almost making her cry.
The cat was so adorable that she couldn't put it down. It reminded her of the child she lost. If they had been born, they would have been a cute baby.
Bella looked at Anna with tearful eyes.
"Thank you, Anna. I really like it." She had planned to use the cat to annoy Sterling, but now, seeing the ragdoll cat, she couldn't bear to. Using it to get back at him would only hurt the cat.
She hadn't protected her child, but this time she wouldn't let Sterling harm the cat.
"Don't mention it. I thought the flowers were Sterling's way of apologizing to you. Never mind, as long as you're okay, I'll support whatever you do." Anna's words warmed Bella, making her feel she wasn't alone.
