Chapter 165 Misunderstandings Abound
Nia tried to comfort her, "Come on, take another look. What do you mean 'unwilling'? If Anna really didn't want to, could Colin force her? With Anna's fiery temper, who could make her do anything she didn't want to? I'm telling you, they definitely have feelings for each other; they just haven't realized it yet. Give them some more time."
Bella frowned. She wasn't thrilled about Anna and Colin being together. Forget about family background; even Colin's character made Bella feel he wasn't good enough for Anna.
Bella had seen the whole thing with Anna and Caleb before, knowing how deeply Anna had been hurt. And with Colin being such a notorious playboy, there was no way Anna could ever accept someone like him.
Bella was really pissed. Colin kept flirting with Anna.
Nia said, "If you try to break them up now, it'll only backfire and make them more entangled. Just wait and see; maybe they'll end up together."
Bella shot Nia a glance. "Break them up? End up together? What nonsense are you talking about? I'm telling you, Anna could never like a playboy like Colin. And look at Colin's flirtatious ways. Do you think he could genuinely care for her?"
Nia shrugged. "You never know. Maybe he's turned over a new leaf. Maybe he wants to settle down, and the only one who can tame him is Anna. Relax, don't worry about it. Let's go and not disturb them."
Nia finished talking and walked out with her arm around Bella.
After a while, Anna finally pulled herself together and walked out like nothing had happened. When Bella saw Anna come out, she immediately went up to her. Although Anna had tidied her hair and emotions, the scene Bella had seen earlier was still fresh in her mind.
Bella wanted to ask Anna if she was okay, but Anna spoke first, "Do you want some more barbecue? I'll grill some more for you."
Seeing Anna act like nothing had happened, Bella didn't push further. Maybe Nia was right; it was Anna's own business, and she shouldn't interfere.
But Bella still had her doubts. How could a playboy like Colin genuinely care for Anna?
Not long after, Colin also came out, with a clear handprint on his face. He didn't seem to mind and sat down opposite Sterling and Micah, who were discussing investments.
When they saw Colin return with the handprint on his face, Micah and Sterling were both shocked.
Micah said, "What happened to your face?"
Colin nonchalantly picked up his glass and said, "Got scratched by a cat."
Micah and Sterling saw through it but didn't call him out. Micah played along, "That must be one wild cat to leave five finger marks."
Colin thought about how he had kissed Anna earlier, which he couldn't get enough of. He touched his face and thought the slap was worth it.
Colin said, "Pour me another drink."
Micah pushed the drink in front of him and said, "Seems like things got pretty intense. How was it? Did you enjoy it?"
Colin ignored Micah's teasing and lewd look. He just looked at Sterling and asked, "Is marriage really that good?"
Sterling paused with his drink and squinted at him, "It legitimizes happiness, at least you won't get slapped."
Colin's mouth twitched, and Micah burst out laughing, "Didn't expect our serious and aloof Mr. Windsor to crack a joke."
"I'm not joking," Sterling calmly took a sip of his drink.
Micah laughed even harder, "Looks like Mr. Windsor's married life is going well. Look at that gentle expression."
"After a week on a business trip, Mr. Windsor must be making up for lost time," Colin teased.
Bella, not far away, listened to their increasingly inappropriate conversation, blushing and feeling her ears burn, but she couldn't go over to stop them.
Sterling just smiled and listened to Colin and Micah's banter. He seemed to sense something and looked in Bella's direction, seeing her glaring at him with a mix of shyness and accusation.
He should stop them.
Sterling raised an eyebrow and gave Bella a doting smile, then turned back and, as Bella requested, calmly changed the subject, "So, are you thinking about getting married?"
This question was directed at Colin.
Colin, asked this question, stopped smiling and said, "Marriage is too far off for me. I want freedom. And I won't get married."
As soon as Colin finished speaking, there was a sudden sound of a plate dropping behind him, and he stiffened.
Colin turned mechanically and saw Anna, Bella, and Nia standing behind him.
Colin looked back at Sterling, who gave him a smile: 'Yes, I did it on purpose. I saw them coming and asked you on purpose. That's what you get for teasing me.'
Colin almost fainted from anger: 'You really are a good friend.'
Sterling sneered: 'Just letting you experience the essence of marriage and freedom.'
After their silent exchanges, Sterling looked at Anna. The plate in her hand had somehow fallen to the ground, scattering the barbecue.
Colin regretted it. There had already been many misunderstandings, and now he couldn't explain it.
Anna simply said, "Sorry, I didn't hold it steady."
She bent down to pick up the barbecue, but Colin immediately got up, walked over, and pulled her up, "Don't pick it up; it's dirty now."
Anna shook off his hand and said, "Mr. Rivera, you must be rich. This barbecue, you say it's trash, so it's trash. Fine, if you say so, I'll grill some more."
Anna finished speaking and, without waiting for anyone's reaction, turned and walked towards the barbecue area. Nia and Bella glared at Colin.
Colin felt a bit uneasy under their gaze.
Bella said, "Colin, do you remember what I told you before? Anna is not someone you can mess with. If you want to mess with her, you have to be ready to give up your freedom. Saying what you just said makes you a jerk."
Bella put down the barbecue and started scolding Colin, calling him a jerk, despicable, and shameless.
Sterling saw Bella getting more and more agitated and quickly stopped her, "Bella, cool down. Let them handle their own issues."
