Chapter 75 A Strange Letter
Bella didn't even need to say it; Colin already knew what she wanted.
"You want me to help Anna find a job?" Colin asked, grinning.
Bella nodded.
Colin looked puzzled. "I mean, I can do that, but why not ask Sterling?"
Bella shook her head. "You know how Sterling is. He already forgave the Powell Family's debt. If I ask him for more, he'll think I'm just being greedy."
Colin rubbed his chin. He hadn't heard about Sterling helping with the debt, but Bella had a point. Sterling hated greedy people.
"Alright, I can help. But how are you gonna convince Anna? She doesn't seem like the type to take help easily." Colin shrugged. He could tell Anna was pretty stubborn. Girls like her didn't just accept help from anyone.
"I'll figure it out," Bella said, frowning as she thought.
Soon enough, Anna found the group of thugs.
"The money on this card should cover the debt! Hand over the IOU," Anna demanded, holding out a bank card.
The thug glanced at Colin standing behind Anna and shivered. He took the card and pulled out a card reader.
After a few seconds, the thug looked at the card reader awkwardly and didn't hand over the IOU.
"What are you waiting for? Give me the IOU," Anna snapped.
The thug, holding the card reader, trembled. "Miss, the money on your card isn't enough! You're still short by a hundred thousand dollars!"
"No way, I don't remember owing that much!" Qiana shouted.
The thug explained awkwardly, "Ma'am, you borrowed from a loan shark. The interest is sky-high; it's already up to a hundred thousand."
"You scammer, I'll kill you!" Qiana yelled, tearing at the thug's clothes.
The thug, scared of Colin, didn't dare fight back.
Anna's face showed a mix of grief and anger. Colin sighed, pulled out his own bank card, and swiped it on the thug's reader.
"Is it enough now?" Colin asked calmly.
The thug nodded quickly. "Yes, it's enough. Mr. Rivera, honestly, if you just talked to our boss, he would've waived the debt."
Colin frowned and looked at the thug with disdain. "If I can solve it with money, I prefer that. I don't want any ties with you."
"Okay, okay, I get it." The thug nervously handed over the IOU to Qiana.
Qiana checked the IOU, confirmed it was hers, and tore it up.
"Mr. Rivera, if there's nothing else, we'll be going now." The thug nodded to Colin and quickly left with his men.
"Thanks for your help. I'll pay you back," Anna said to Colin.
Bella suddenly had an idea and gave Colin a knowing look.
Colin rolled his eyes and said to Anna, "Hey, our company's hiring. If you're interested, you should give it a shot. The pay's good, and I can stop you from disappearing on us."
Bella facepalmed. Colin was a good guy, but man, he could be annoying sometimes.
"I wouldn't do that. If you're so worried, just keep an eye on me," Anna shot back, glaring at him.
"Alright, now that this is sorted, let's head upstairs and tidy up the rooms," Bella said with a smile, pulling Anna and Qiana along.
It was a bit of a circus, but at least Anna's job situation was handled.
While Qiana and Anna were tidying up, Bella tried to help but Anna stopped her.
"You're not in the best shape; you should rest," Anna said, glancing at Bella's belly.
Bella got the hint. She was pregnant and shouldn't overdo it, so she nodded and sat down.
Colin looked at Bella curiously. "What's up with you? You don't look sick, and you seem to have put on some weight since I first met you."
Bella rolled her eyes. "Yeah, you're right. My illness is called 'eating too much.'"
Colin scratched his nose, knowing she was joking. He decided not to push it.
"Hey, Bella, I found a letter while cleaning up. It's addressed to you but somehow ended up at my place," Anna said, picking up a letter from the floor and handing it to Bella.
"A letter for me?" Bella opened it, looking puzzled.
Colin glanced at the yellowed paper and joked, "Who still writes letters these days? Maybe it's a love letter?"
He was just messing around, but Bella started trembling as she read it.
"Wait, was I right? Is it a love letter? Sterling's gonna flip," Colin said, surprised.
Seeing Bella's reaction, Anna quickly took the letter from her and read it.
"If this is true, then your dad was framed!" Anna exclaimed, shocked.
Colin's curiosity peaked. He moved closer to read the letter.
To his surprise, the letter was made up of newspaper clippings.
The message read: [Bella, your father's death was no accident. It was a setup! If you want the truth, come find me.]
It ended with an address.
Colin frowned. "This is weird. Why use this method to send a message? If it's true, does that mean Sterling's parents were murdered too?"
Bella took a deep breath, put the letter back in the envelope, and said, "I don't care how weird this is; I need to find out the truth! Colin, take me to Windsor Villa. I need to see Sterling!"
Colin nodded. This was serious and connected to Sterling, so he didn't waste any time. He quickly took Bella to Windsor Villa.
