Chapter 207 The Eve of Danger

Zoey looked at Bella with concern, "What are you talking about? How can this be your fault? I can't believe some bastard would dare to harm Mr. Windsor."

"Don't worry, Owen is back. Let him investigate this; he won't let the culprit get away."

Bella diverted some of her attention, "Owen is back? Wasn't he sent away by Sterling?"

Zoey replied, "Owen went out on business. Now that it's over, he heard about Mr. Windsor's accident and came back less than an hour ago."

Bella nodded, looking at Sterling in the ICU, covered in tubes. Her heart felt like it was being cut by a knife.

She knew she might never leave the Windsor Villa in this lifetime. She shouldn't have been angry with Sterling or yelled at him. She regretted all those days they argued.

Bella couldn't imagine what she would do if Sterling didn't wake up this time.

Anna advised her to rest, and Zoey did too, but how could she lie down?

Finally, Zoey said, "Mr. Windsor won't wake up anytime soon. Mrs. Windsor, you should go back and rest. There are so many bodyguards and Mr. Rivera here. You're not alone now."

Bella really didn't want to leave Sterling, but she felt her body couldn't hold on much longer. Worried about the baby, she finally followed Zoey back.

Bella hadn't been to the Windsor Villa for almost two months. It looked the same as always. Zoey took her upstairs to her room.

As soon as Bella entered the room, she saw Sunny looking at her eagerly from the bed. Her heart melted instantly.

She picked up Sunny and cuddled it, but then remembered she was pregnant and reluctantly put it outside the door.

Bella saw that the master bedroom was as clean and tidy as when she left, filled with traces of her life.

Her skincare products on the vanity, her favorite shower gel in the bathroom, the blanket on the sofa, and the nightlight by the bed were all still there.

There were even more clothes in the walk-in closet, many of them new, clearly sent by brands at Sterling's request.

Bella's eyes welled up. Sterling had been silently loving her in ways she couldn't see. She suddenly remembered the day they had argued.

Sterling had said, "If I didn't love you so much..."

Bella had thought it was just a joke, an excuse blurted out. She hadn't realized he was truly loving her silently.

The traces of her life in the room hadn't been erased. She felt both happy and bittersweet.

Bella regretted arguing with Sterling that day. He was just too proud to show his feelings.

If she had been more patient, things might not have turned out this way. At least they wouldn't have missed out on two months together.

Thinking about seeing Sterling and Anna together, she realized she wouldn't have been able to accept it either, even knowing nothing happened.

Sterling must have felt the same way.

Thinking about how he came to see her in the rain and ended up in this situation, Bella deeply regretted not understanding him more, not standing by his side and telling him she didn't mind his misunderstanding, that she would give him time to figure things out.

Instead, she'd let her frustration get the better of her and stormed out of The Windsor Villa.

Bella threw herself onto the bed. She didn't know when she fell asleep, but she woke up from a nightmare at 5:00 AM, unable to fall back asleep.

Finally, at 8:00 AM, Anna arrived at the Windsor Villa to have breakfast with her.

A phone call brought her back to life. Colin said Sterling had woken up and would be moved to a regular room soon.

Bella finally felt relieved.

Anna was also happy, "It's good that he's awake. Are we going to the hospital later?"

"Yes," Bella said, more eager than ever to see Sterling.

In the VIP ward, Sterling's face was cold, "Have they found out about the car accident? It was intentional. He really could do it."

Sterling gripped his phone tightly, his expression calm, but his chest heaved violently.

Colin was startled, "Sterling, don't get agitated. We'll find out what happened. And don't worry, Bella is fine."

"She arrived at the Windsor Group yesterday and then heard about your accident. She should be at the Windsor Villa now; Zoey took her back."

Sterling finally exhaled heavily. Will quickly ran over, "Sterling, you can't get too emotional right now. Calm down."

Sterling closed his eyes tightly. He had to consider everything, couldn't see Bella immediately, and it made him inexplicably angry.

But deep down, he was angry at himself for not being able to see Bella that day.

Sterling knew Bella was probably very worried, but he couldn't help it. He hated himself for arguing with Bella.

He controlled his breathing to ease the pain in his chest.

"Will Bella come later?" Sterling asked.

Colin said, "Don't worry, she should come. Anna is probably going to get her now."

Sterling sighed, "Give me some painkillers. I can't take it anymore."

The pain from his dislocated ribs was almost as unbearable as the days he couldn't see Bella.

Sterling took the medication and lay on the bed, thinking about his next steps. Everyone left the room quietly, not daring to wake him.

Bella thought she could see Sterling immediately, but fate didn't favor her. It seemed like everything was happening at once, as if it had been planned.

The morning rain continued to pour. After breakfast, she couldn't wait to go to the hospital.

"Bella, the rain is so heavy. Can we wait until it lightens up?" Anna suggested softly.

Bella had waited two months; she didn't want to wait any longer.

"It's okay, we'll drive slowly."

Anna agreed. It was impossible to make Bella wait now. Zoey had already asked Owen to bring the car to the door.

"Owen, you're really back?" Bella was slightly surprised to see Owen in the car.

"Yes, Mrs. Windsor, I'm back." Owen smiled warmly.

He had always treated Bella like a daughter. Seeing her again made him very happy.

But Owen wasn't one to express his feelings, so he kept his joy to himself.
