Chapter 191 James' Email

Bella didn't expect Sterling to know; she thought Sterling would be blinded by hatred. However, this made her feel a bit better.

Bella said, "What about you? If the Hughes family goes bankrupt, what are your thoughts?"

Micah smiled indifferently and said, "You forget, I became independent from the Hughes family a long time ago. Whatever happens to them has nothing to do with me."

But Micah knew that the Hughes family wouldn't fall so easily.

The Hughes family wasn't a small family; it was a century-old, prominent family.

Sterling's punishment would only cause them to lose a few projects, but that was enough to throw them into chaos. Bankruptcy was only a matter of time.

Bella was silent for a while and then asked Micah, "Why doesn't Sterling believe us, even though he knows nothing happened between us and that it was all a conspiracy by the Hughes family? Why does he still act this way?"

Seeing Bella bring up this issue, Micah couldn't avoid it. He thought seriously before saying, "It's not that Sterling doesn't believe us. It's because he trusts us too much, and that's why he's in pain. He doesn't want to see us. Let's try to understand him."

He paused, then continued, "After all, the image of his best friend and his wife lying together is shocking even to me, let alone to someone as stubborn as Sterling. Let's give him some time."

Bella nodded, feeling wronged, and said, "It's not our fault. I'm giving him time; I've already moved out of The Windsor Villa."

Micah's expression changed upon hearing this. "What? It's that serious? You've moved out of The Windsor Villa? I think I should talk to Sterling, but he doesn't want to see me now."

"In any case, this is my fault for putting you and Sterling in this situation. Whatever you decide to do, I have no objections. I just want to say, it's not your fault; some people are just too malicious and vile."

Bella knew Micah was also a victim and couldn't blame him. She sighed and said, "I don't blame you. The root of all this is Debra. It's Debra targeting me. I'll deal with her."

Micah nodded and said that if she needed any help, she could count on him.

After Bella left the office, she suddenly had an idea and returned to Micah's office.

"I want to resign," Bella said seriously.

Micah wasn't surprised and simply said, "I respect your decision. As long as you're sure about it."

Bella didn't say anything more and left the office. She had been a designer for a long time and seemed to have lost her passion for it.

She decided to do something she liked instead. Next, she was going to settle the score with Debra.

Bella really didn't want to see Debra. She mentally prepared herself, wondering what she had done to offend Debra to make her harm her repeatedly.

Debra was like a venomous snake hiding in the grass. If she didn't deal with her, there was no guarantee she wouldn't strike again.

While Bella was packing her things, she suddenly received a message from James. She picked up her phone and read it.

James: [I'm sorry for what happened that night. If I hadn't gone, none of this would have happened. I'm leaving the country and probably won't come back.

Thinking about how I said I would always be there for you seems laughable now.

Bella, I now realize that my presence is the greatest harm and threat to you. They will use our past relationship to hurt you repeatedly.

My presence is their excuse and method to harm you. Maybe only by staying away from you can I truly protect you.

So this time, I'm listening to you. I'm leaving and won't appear by your side again. This way, certain people won't have the chance or excuse to hurt you.

I'm leaving, and you'll be happy, right? Don't make me regret my decision to leave.]

Bella stared at the long email, unable to react for a long time until a colleague reminded her, and she realized her eyes were already wet.

James, the gentle boy in her memory, always brought her warmth and comfort. His gaze always contained endless tenderness, as if it could melt ice.

James was a man she could rely on, but she no longer deserved him.

Let him stay in her memory.

Bella looked at the email, feeling bitter. What did this have to do with James? They were both victims.

Why did they have to bear the pain? She didn't need to think to know that Sterling had a hand in James' departure.

Bella put away her phone and quickly completed her resignation procedures. Micah also readily let her go.

Bella's emotions were still immersed in James' email. She didn't expect to run into someone she really didn't want to see as soon as she left the company.

Mira looked a bit haggard but still glamorous. She walked up to Bella as if nothing had happened and said, "Bella, can we talk?"

Bella didn't want to see her and turned to walk away. But Mira persistently followed her and said, "Bella, let's sit down and talk. I have something to say to you."

Bella turned back and calmly said, "If you have something to say, say it here."

Mira looked at the bustling company entrance and hesitated, "There are a lot of people here. You don't want your colleagues to see, do you? Let's go to the café across the street and talk."

Five minutes later.

Bella sat across from Mira, her expression indifferent, "What do you have to say that's worth me sitting here with you?"

Bella found it strange that she could sit down and talk calmly with Mira.

After thinking for a while, she finally understood. She probably no longer cared because only when facing someone you have no expectations of can you remain calm and unruffled.

Mira seemed to have been preparing for a long time. Her haggardness was visible, but she still forced a smile and said, "Bella, I know I wronged you before, and I can't make it up to you. So please let me compensate you materially, okay?"

Bella sneered, "You want to give me money?"

Mira didn't say anything. She took a stack of documents from her bag, placed them on the table, and pushed them toward Bella, "Take a look."

This time, Bella graciously opened the document bag. Inside were some property deeds, stock certificates, and other financial documents.

Bella couldn't fully understand them, but she saw her name on them.

Bella threw the documents on the table and said coldly, "What does this mean?"

Mira said, "You should know I divorced Dash, right? During the property division, I transferred all the assets I got to your name. These are all yours."

Bella looked at her mockingly, "What are you doing now? Showing off your wealth or displaying your overflowing maternal love?"
